Chapter 11: Unspoken Feelings

i belong to you

The night air felt cooler than usual as Taehyung and Jungkook stood outside the grand hall. The sounds of music and laughter from the event faded into the distance, leaving only the sound of their breathing and the occasional rustling of leaves. The tension between them had shifted, and Taehyung could sense that something was changing, something that had been brewing for a while.

Jungkook had always been an enigma, but tonight, the wall he had built around himself seemed to be crumbling, piece by piece. Taehyung wasn’t sure if he was ready to push through it, or if he should wait for Jungkook to make the first move. But one thing was certain: the distance between them had shrunk.

“Taehyung,” Jungkook’s voice broke through the silence, deep and quiet, his words holding an unfamiliar weight.

Taehyung turned to face him, his heart pounding in his chest. “Yeah?”

Jungkook’s gaze was intense, searching, almost as if he was looking for something in Taehyung that he had missed before. “I... don’t know what this is. But I can’t ignore it anymore.”

Taehyung’s breath hitched. His mind raced, trying to comprehend the meaning behind Jungkook’s words. Could it be? Was Jungkook finally acknowledging what they both had been dancing around for so long?

“You don’t have to say anything,” Taehyung said quickly, his voice betraying the nervousness he felt. “We don’t need to rush things. I—”

“No,” Jungkook cut him off, taking a small step forward. His eyes softened. “I’ve been running from this for a long time. From you. From... us.”

The confession hit Taehyung like a wave. He swallowed hard, unsure of how to respond, unsure of what to say. He had been waiting for this moment, but now that it was here, he couldn’t find the words to match the emotions swirling inside him.

“I don’t know what’s been wrong with me,” Jungkook continued, his voice low and raw. “I thought I had everything figured out. I thought I was fine without you. But I wasn’t. And I’m not.”

The honesty in Jungkook’s words took Taehyung by surprise. This wasn’t the cold, indifferent Jungkook that he had come to know over the past few months. This was someone vulnerable, someone searching for something he hadn’t been able to find until now.

Taehyung stepped closer, his voice barely above a whisper. “You don’t have to do this alone. We don’t have to do this alone, Jungkook.”

Jungkook’s gaze softened even further, and for the first time, Taehyung saw a flicker of something deeper in those dark eyes. It was a mix of longing and regret, a vulnerability that Jungkook rarely allowed anyone to see.

“I don’t want to push you away anymore,” Jungkook murmured. “I’ve made so many mistakes, but I want to make things right. I want to start over... with you.”

The words hung in the air between them, thick with meaning, thick with a promise that neither of them had expected to make. Taehyung’s heart raced, and before he could say anything, Jungkook closed the distance between them, his hands gently resting on Taehyung’s shoulders.

Taehyung looked up at him, his breath catching in his throat. “Are you sure?” he asked, his voice barely audible. “Are you sure you want this? After everything that’s happened?”

Jungkook nodded, his grip tightening ever so slightly. “I’ve never been more sure of anything in my life.”

Without another word, he leaned down, capturing Taehyung’s lips in a kiss. It was slow at first, tentative, as if they were both unsure of what they were doing, but soon it deepened, and Taehyung felt a rush of emotions overwhelm him. The kiss was filled with everything they had both been holding back — the yearning, the frustration, the love that had always been there but never fully acknowledged.

When they finally broke apart, Taehyung’s chest was rising and falling rapidly, his heart racing as he tried to gather his thoughts. Jungkook’s forehead rested against his, their breaths mingling.

“Taehyung,” Jungkook whispered, his voice low and filled with something deeper. “I’m sorry for everything. For hurting you. For pushing you away.”

Taehyung closed his eyes for a moment, letting the words settle in. “You don’t need to apologize anymore,” he said softly, his voice steady despite the whirlwind inside him. “We’re here now. That’s all that matters.”

Jungkook smiled faintly, his thumb gently brushing Taehyung’s cheek. “I don’t deserve you.”

“You’re wrong,” Taehyung replied, his voice firm. “You do deserve me. We both deserve this.”

For a moment, they stood there, just holding each other, the world outside forgotten. The future, the mistakes, the doubts — they all seemed so far away in that moment. All that mattered was the now, the connection between them, and the understanding that they were finally taking the first step toward something real.

Later That Night:

Taehyung couldn’t sleep. His mind raced, replaying the events of the night over and over again. Jungkook’s confession, the kiss — it was all too overwhelming, too new. He knew they had a long road ahead of them, that they would face challenges, but for the first time, Taehyung felt like they had a chance.

But just as he was about to close his eyes, his phone buzzed.

It was a message from his friend, Yeri.

**Yeri: Taehyung, have you heard? Soojin’s been seen with another guy tonight. She’s already moving on, even with everything going on with Jungkook. Don’t let her come between you two, okay? You deserve better.

Taehyung stared at the message for a long moment, feeling a rush of conflicting emotions. Soojin. Jungkook’s past. Would it always haunt them?

But this time, Taehyung wasn’t afraid. He had made up his mind. He wasn’t going to let anything tear them apart. Not now, not when they were finally moving forward.

Tomorrow was a new day. And this time, he wasn’t facing it alone.
