Chapter 13: Confrontation
i belong to you
The sky outside was tinged with a deep shade of orange, signaling the end of the day as Taehyung sat in the lounge, tapping his fingers impatiently on the armrest. The weight of the situation was heavy on his chest, but he was determined. He had made it clear to Jungkook that Soojin was no longer going to control their lives, and it was time to end things once and for all.
Jungkook walked into the room, his expression serious but calm. He had spent the entire day organizing everything, trying to keep his mind occupied. But now, with the confrontation looming ahead, the tension between them was palpable. Neither of them spoke for a moment. There was nothing more to say â it was time for action.
âAre you sure about this?â Jungkook asked, his voice quieter than usual. His eyes, filled with both concern and determination, met Taehyungâs.
Taehyung stood up from his seat, walking toward him. âWe canât let her control us anymore, Jungkook. Weâve been running from this for too long. Itâs time to face it.â
Jungkook nodded, his jaw clenched as he took a deep breath. âI know. I just... Iâm scared. I donât want to lose you over this. You mean everything to me, Taehyung.â
Taehyung reached out, gently cupping Jungkookâs face. âYou wonât lose me, I promise. Weâre in this together. No matter what.â
Jungkook closed his eyes for a moment, leaning into the warmth of Taehyungâs touch. The weight of the last few days, the emotional strain, seemed to lift ever so slightly with those words. He knew that as long as they were together, they could handle anything.
âLetâs go,â Taehyung said, his tone firm. âWe donât have time to waste.â
They both walked out of the lounge and toward the car, the air outside crisp and cool. Taehyungâs heart beat faster with each step. The confrontation with Soojin would not be easy. She had always been a powerful presence in their lives, and even now, she was determined to make sure they would never be free of her.
As the car sped toward their destination, the familiar streets blurred past. Taehyungâs thoughts wandered briefly to the time when he and Jungkook had been happy, before everything had become entangled in lies, misunderstandings, and the ghosts of their past. He wondered if they could ever truly move on, if the past would always come back to haunt them.
Jungkook reached over and took Taehyungâs hand, squeezing it tightly. âI know itâs hard, but weâll make it through this,â he whispered.
Taehyung looked at him, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. âWe always do.â
The car slowed to a stop in front of a sleek, glass building. It was Soojinâs office, the place where she had been hiding for the past few months, the place where she was plotting her next move. Taehyungâs eyes narrowed as he looked up at the imposing structure. This was it. The moment that would change everything.
They both got out of the car, making their way to the entrance. Taehyungâs heart was racing, but his steps were steady, determined. Jungkook was right by his side, his presence a grounding force.
Inside, Soojin sat behind her desk, looking as poised and unbothered as ever. She didnât even glance up when they walked in, continuing to fiddle with the papers in front of her. The silence stretched between them, thick and suffocating.
âSo, you finally decided to show up,â Soojin said coolly, her voice dripping with disdain.
Taehyung didnât waste any time. âCut the act, Soojin. We both know why weâre here.â
Jungkook stepped forward, his voice firm. âYouâve been manipulating me for too long. Iâm done with you, Soojin. Iâm done with the lies, the games, and everything else.â
Soojinâs eyes flickered with something, maybe surprise, but she quickly masked it with a smile. âYou think itâs that simple? You think you can just walk away from me like Iâm nothing?â
Taehyungâs patience was wearing thin. âYouâve had your hold over him for far too long. And now, it ends.â
Soojinâs smile faltered, her fingers curling into a fist on the desk. âYou think you can just steal him from me? He was mine first, Taehyung. You were always just the replacement.â
Jungkookâs face hardened. âYou were never the love of my life, Soojin. You were a part of my past. And Iâve learned from that. Iâm not going to let you drag me back into your world of manipulation and lies.â
Soojinâs eyes narrowed, her lips curling into a snarl. âYouâre really going to choose him over me? After everything we shared?â
Jungkook took a step forward, his voice unwavering. âYes. I choose Taehyung. I choose us.â
There was a moment of silence, the air thick with tension. Soojinâs gaze shifted between the two men, the truth finally sinking in. She had lost. Not just Jungkook, but the power she thought she still held over him. Her eyes darkened with fury, but she didnât say anything more. She knew she had no leverage left.
Taehyung felt a sense of finality settle over him. They had done it. They had confronted Soojin, and now they could finally move on with their lives. The past was over.
âWeâre done here,â Taehyung said coldly, his voice sharp as he turned to leave.
As they walked out of the office, Taehyung could feel a weight lift off his shoulders. Soojin had been the last ghost from their past to haunt them, and now, with her defeated, they could finally breathe. They could finally be free.
The car ride back was quiet, but it wasnât uncomfortable. Taehyung leaned back in his seat, his hand still resting in Jungkookâs. For the first time in a long while, he felt peace settle in his chest. They had faced their demons, and now it was time to focus on the future.
When they arrived back at their place, Jungkook turned to Taehyung with a soft smile. âItâs over, isnât it?â
Taehyung nodded, his heart swelling with a mixture of relief and hope. âIt is. And now, itâs just the two of us.â
Jungkook stepped closer, wrapping his arms around Taehyungâs waist. âTogether. Always.â
Taehyung leaned in, pressing his forehead against Jungkookâs. âAlways.â
And in that moment, they both knew they had fought for each other, and they had won. The future was theirs to shape, and they would face it hand in hand.
