Chapter 15

i belong to you

The days that followed the confrontation in the bar felt like a whirlwind. Taehyung had returned home that night with a sense of relief, but his mind remained unsettled. The weight of everything that had happened—his doubts, his anger, and the lingering confusion—still pressed heavily on his heart. But there was something different now. He knew that things weren’t perfect, but the willingness to fight for each other was still there.

The morning after, Jungkook had apologized in his quiet, reserved way, with sincerity in his eyes. Taehyung had accepted it, though the words still felt heavy on his tongue. The hardest part wasn’t hearing the apology; it was finding a way to forgive himself for allowing the doubts to cloud his judgment.

As the sun set on another day, Taehyung sat on their balcony, staring out over the city. The sky was painted with hues of orange and pink, but there was an unsettling stillness in his chest. Everything seemed so close, yet so far away. His thoughts kept drifting to the future, to the uncertainty that loomed over them. Could they truly overcome everything? Could they find peace?

Jungkook appeared beside him, leaning against the balcony rail with a sigh. His presence was calming, yet Taehyung couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing between them. The tension that had been there for so long hadn’t fully dissipated, and the silence between them felt too thick to ignore.

“You know, I’ve been thinking,” Jungkook said softly, his gaze fixed on the horizon. “About us. About everything.”

Taehyung turned to face him, his brow furrowed. “What about it?”

Jungkook hesitated, as if searching for the right words. “We’ve been through a lot, Tae. And... I don’t want to keep dragging things out. I don’t want to keep hurting you.”

Taehyung felt a pang in his chest at the honesty in Jungkook’s voice. He wanted to respond, but for a moment, the words felt stuck in his throat.

“I don’t know how to fix everything,” Jungkook continued, his voice quiet. “But I do know that I’m willing to try. If you’re willing to try with me.”

The sincerity in Jungkook’s voice was undeniable. Taehyung searched his eyes, and for the first time in a long while, he saw the person he had fallen in love with—vulnerable, yet determined. There was no more room for games or misunderstandings. This was the raw truth.

“I’m scared, Jungkook,” Taehyung admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I’m scared that we’ve lost too much, that we won’t be able to fix everything.”

Jungkook stepped closer, his hand brushing gently against Taehyung’s. “We don’t have to fix everything right now. We just need to take it one step at a time. Together.”

The warmth of Jungkook’s hand in his was all Taehyung needed. For the first time in a long while, he allowed himself to let go of the fear and doubt. Maybe the road ahead wouldn’t be easy, but with Jungkook beside him, it didn’t seem as daunting.

They stood there in silence for a moment, the evening air cool against their skin. Taehyung looked at Jungkook, seeing the determination in his eyes, the vulnerability, and the love that had always been there.

“I’m willing to try too,” Taehyung finally said, his voice steady. “I don’t know what will happen next, but I want to see where this goes.”

Jungkook’s lips curved into a small smile, the first genuine one in days. “That’s all I needed to hear.”

With a deep breath, Taehyung took Jungkook’s hand in his, holding it tightly. As they stood together, watching the sunset fade into the night, they both knew that the journey ahead wouldn’t be easy, but they were no longer walking it alone.

For the first time in a long while, the future didn’t seem so uncertain. Together, they could face whatever came their way.

And that was enough.
