Chapter 21

Junoon 6

Hirz-e-Jaan

DISCLAIMER: The male lead is extremely obsessive and possessive and maybe borderline toxic. I will not change that at all. He might do some things that are offensive to some of you.

Author's POV

Salaar woke up around 8:22 am with a stiff back from sleeping on the couch. He made a note to get a convertible sofa bed as soon as he can. He groaned as the muscles in his back cracked. His gaze unknowingly moved to Zara sleeping on the bed with a relaxed face. (A/N: I LOVEEEE convertible sofa beds.)

The corners of his lips tilted upwards from seeing his angel looking so calm and beautiful. He moved towards the bed as he ran a hand through his already messed up hair.

He knelt beside the bed still looking at Zara hypnotically. "MashAllah." He couldn't help but mutter. Zara was painfully beautiful. He could feel his heart oozing the love he held for her. He was smiling so hard that he thought his jaw would dislocate if his smile stretched a little more.

He wouldn't say that he didn't feel bad for what he did. He did feel bad but all he did was for the better. He was trying to protect Zara from the evils lurking around the world. If he tried protecting her from the shadows, questions would start arising within his business world about who the girl is.

He shrugged the thoughts away, and slightly brushed away the stray hairs resting on her cheek. His eyes touched every nook and cranny of her face, not missing a single detail. His eyes momentarily stopped on her plump lips.

Her lips looked more kissable now than ever, his mind wandered to the more sinful thoughts of him kissing those lips insensibly. His thumb grazed her lips lightly, making Zara whimper in her sleep.

Before he could lose all his senses, his phone dinged, indicating a message. He gave Zara one last look and got up to check who it was.

He opened his phone to see Rayan's message, 'Yo, are you coming to the gym today or do you have other plans, dulhe mian😏?'

He could feel Rayan and Mikael giggling like teenage girls through the screen. Men might be tough but they can have teenage girl tendencies when talking about their best friend's love life.

He sent a quick, 'Coming' and headed downstairs to the gym.

The sunlight came in through the curtains and camped on Zara's face making her stir from her sleep. She turned around trying to regain her sleep but the sunlight was not going away. She eventually decided to open her eyes.

Her eyes came in contact with the vaguely familiar room. Memories from yesterday came rushing back to her. She sat up and looked around to see no one around, her heart seemingly relieved.

She looked for her phone and unplugged it from the charger she was given. She looked at the time which read 10:07 am. It wasn't too late, she sighed. She still had time to go for her shift at the hospital.

She stretched and eventually left the comfortable bed. She opened the closet to pick a decent outfit for her day. After choosing an outfit, she went straight to the bathroom to get ready for her day.

As she was in the bathroom, Salaar came into the room only to find it empty. For a moment, his heart panicked but the sound of water running in the bathroom made him calm down. He sat on the couch looking through his phone and waited for his wife dearest to get ready.

Zara came out of the bathroom feeling fresh. Her heart came to a halt when she saw Salaar lounging on the sofa, who looked up from his phone to acknowledge her. The rage from yesterday came full force on her along with fear of what he can do.

She could not do much so she decided to ignore him and give him the silent treatment, it was the most she could do. She walked towards the full body mirror in the room to dry her hair.

Salaar, on the other hand, was happy to spend the day with his wife. "Assalamualaikum Zara." He whispered in his deep voice. On hearing no response, he looked up from his phone once again to see her drying her hair.

He thought she might have not heard him so he said it again but louder this time, "Assalamualaikum Zara.". He was sure that she would have heard him now.

Upon hearing no response this time as well, he had had enough. He got up and threw his phone on the couch as he stormed towards her. Zara who was peacefully drying her hair had the air in her lungs knocked out as she saw Salaar standing closely behind her looking furious.

Salaar grabbed the brush from Zara's hand forcefully. Zara tried turning around and saying something but she was held in place by Salaar's huge hand cupping her face making her look at them through the mirror.

"Ye kia-" Zara just opened her mouth to say but was cut off by Salaar.

"I suggest you use your words and actions very wisely. I can only be patient if you are putting in the effort as well." He said looking into her fearful eyes through the mirror.

Zara's eyes started to water hearing him say that. What was she supposed to do? Be happy and accept the marriage as if she wanted it? She knew it couldn't happen.

Salaar left the hold he had on her cheek and started brushing her hair from the back. "I am ready to do anything for you jaan. Just give us a chance."

He gave a kiss on her head and left her to go to the bathroom. Zara tried clearing her eyes but in that, a single tear escaped her eye which she quickly wiped away. She thought long and hard on what she should do and settled on one idea.

Salaar soon came out of the bathroom and led Zara downstairs for breakfast. Zara had more time to look around the house and it was actually a very pretty house somewhere in between vintage and modern. Although, it was clear that it was newly built.

She also saw several guards and helpers around the house. She kept in mind to ask about Salaar's work. Zara and Salaar had breakfast along with Huzaifa, Mikael, Rayan and Rayan's sister, Raha.

Raha was a cute girl around Zara's age. Raha had immaculate vibes and Zara felt nice being around her. Salaar sat on the head seat with Zara to his left and Huzaifa to his right. Raha was beside Zara while Rayan and Mikael were beside Huzaifa. Raha and Rayan bickered a lot which reminded Zara of her and Adeel.

"Bhabhi, what are you planning to do today?" Raha asked Zara right after breakfast started. Everyone looked at Zara, waiting for her to reply. Zara felt weird being called bhabhi, especially with the reference of Salaar.

Zara looked at everyone and then replied, "Kuch khas nahi, hospital jayoon gi." She shrugged. (Nothing special, I'll go to the hospital.)

"Hospital se tumhe chutti he, marriage leave pe ho." Salaar informed her. This made her whip her head around quickly. (You're on marriage leave from the hospital)

"Mgr mene to leave nahi li." Zara said. (But I didn't take a leave.)

Salaar put down his stuff and looked at her, "Meri jaan, aap bhool rahi ho ke wo hospital mera he." (My love, you are forgetting that the hospital is mine.)

"Acha." Zara replied grudgingly. She thought to herself, 'Har cheez ko apna kehne ki aadat hai inhe. Hospital mera, ye mera, wo mera, tum meri. *insert eyeroll*' (Ok.) (He has a habit of calling everything his. Hospital mine, this mine, that mine, you're mine.)

Zara turned to Raha, "Mein aaj faarigh hoon." (I am free today.)

"Okay. Phir hum mil kar kuch karein?" Raha asked Zara who she really liked. (Okay. Then should we do something together?)

Zara opened her mouth to suggest something but Salaar cut her off, "Raha bache, aaj mene aur Zara ne kahin jana hai. Aap kal apne plans bana lena." (Raha, Zara and I have to go somewhere today. You can make your plans tomorrow.)

Zara gave Salaar a questioning look who just stared back at her, daring her to say no. She just went along with whatever Salaar had planned. Raha, being an obedient kid, just said yes.

After breakfast, Salaar and Zara headed to their room. As soon as they entered, Salaar said, "Tyaar ho jao, mein tumhe ami abu ki taraf le jata hoon." (Get ready, I will take you to mom and dad's house.) (A/N: Salaar means Zara's parents. In Pakistani culture [most of it], after marriage, you call your mother and father-in-law as mom and dad.]

"Sachi?" Zara asked in a shocked voice mixed with a happy voice. There was nothing more exciting for a girl than to go to her parent's house after marriage. (Really?)

Salaar just hummed. "Acha men abhi aati paanch mint men. Thank you so much Salaar!!" Zara replied feeling ecstatic. (Ok I will get ready in 5 minutes.)

"Tayaar ho kar niche aa jana." Salaar said. (Come downstairs when you are ready.)

True to her words, Zara got ready in 5 minutes and met Salaar right outside the huge main doors leaning against a car. Salaar opened the car door for Zara and waited for her to enter before rounding it and entering himself.

Without further ado, they sped out of the huge mansion's driveway past the outer gates. Salaar and Zara did not have much conversation during the drive which Zara was grateful for.

Soon enough Zara reached the familiar streets which she grew up on. She exited the car before Salaar could have a chance to open the door for her. He could not help but smile seeing her excited and full of life.

Zara eagerly rang the bell and waited patiently for someone to open the door. A few moments later, Adeel's voice hit her ear, "KON?" (Who?)

"Zara hoon bhai, darwaza khol den." Zara replied hurriedly. (It's me Zara, open the door.)

Adeel didn't waste a second to open the door. Zara went forward and hugged her brother, squeezing him. The bro-sis duo parted after hugging each other to their heart's extent.

Adeel saw Salaar behind Zara who he wanted nothing more than to strangle. However, Zara just gripped his arm to avoid him from doing anything that would create drama.

"Assalamualaikum Salaar." Adeel said through his gritted teeth as he extended his arm for a shake.

"Walaikum Assalam Adeel. Arey behan ko to bahut galey mile ho, behnoi ke liye esa kuch nahi?" Salaar replied by acting hurt. (Walaikum Assalam Adeel. You hugged your sister really hard, nothing like that for brother-in-law?)

The two men were having a heated unsaid battle when Zara spoke up, "Salaar, bas karein." (Salaar, stop it.)

"Anything for you meri jaan." Salaar didn't hesitate cutting the heated battle.

"Acha jaldi ao mene mama se milna he." Zara said to Adeel, ignoring Salaar's comment. (Ok come one hurry, I have to meet mama.)

Mrs. Siddiqui was surprised seeing her daughter and immediately hugged her, but stopped seeing Salaar behind her who bent down to for Mrs. Siddiqui to pat his head. Zara just assured her mother through her eyes. (A/N: Older females and males pat the head of the younger generation as a way to show love.)

Salaar, to everyone's surprise, greeted the Siddiqui family with good intentions and presented gifts to the whole family. They had lunch together and then Zara, Mrs. Siddiqui and Ahsan's wife made chai to serve along with sweets for the whole family.

The females then sat in a separate room while the men sat in the living room. Mrs. Siddiqui kept on asking Zara if Salaar had done anything to her to which she replied in negative because it was the truth.

A little while later, Adeel came into the room which had the females and sat beside Zara. "Suno, aik plan he." Zara said. (Listen, I have a plan.)

"Kiya?" Asked Adeel, to know what his sister had in mind. (What?)

"Men bhaag jati hoon." Zara replied as if it was totally normal. (I should run away.)

"Dimaag to thik hai tumhara? Satiya gaye ho kya?" Ahsan asked in all seriousness. (Is your head ok? Are you mad?)

"Nahi yar wo baat nahi he. Mujhe Salaar se dar lagta he. Mera jism kaamp jata jab mujhe wo gehri nigah se dekhta he. Usne itna kuch kiya he, kon kehta hai ki kal wo sara kuch mere uper na kare?" Zara said, making a valid point. (No bro that's not it. I fear Salaar. My body trembles whenever he looks at me with his deep gaze. He has done a lot already, who is to say that he won't do that all to me in the future?)

"Wo to theek he Zara, lekin wo tumhara ab shohar he. Tumse pyaar karta he." Adeel tried talking some sense into her. Adeel didn't like Salaar but he felt this was wrong. (That's ok Zara, but he is your husband now. He loves you.)

"Adeel bhai, kabhi sacha pyaar dekha he? Nahi na. Exactly." Zara replied to him. (Brother Adeel, have you ever seen true love? No right. Exactly.)

"Acha theek he. Batao kia plan he." Adeel gave in. Zara shared what she had planned. (Ok fine. What is the plan?)

When it was almost time to leave, Zara went outside to see Salaar getting along with her dad and older brother.

"Kya hua jaan? Sab theek?" Salaar asked Zara as he saw her standing gazing at them. (What happened, love? Everything ok?)

"Jee sab theek. Hum chalein?" Zara replied. (Yes everything is ok. Can we go?)

"Han theek he, chalo. Theek hai phir abu jaan, hum phir nikalte hen. Allah Hafiz." Salaar said his goodbyes and left once Zara said her goodbyes too. (Yeah, let's go. Alright then dad, we will be taking our leave. Allah Hafiz.)

______________________

"Aap ko phir maza aya?" Salaar asked during their drive back home. (Did you enjoy it?)

"Jee bahut maza aya. Thank you so much!" Zara replied back as she looked at the almost setting sun. (Yes, I enjoyed it a lot. Thank you so much!)

Salaar smiled, knowing Zara was happy. Soon enough, they entered the huge metal gates that led to the driveway.

Zara began looking around, trying to find something. Salaar noticed this and asked, "Kya hua? Kuch gum gaya he kia?" (What happened? Did you lose something?)

"Jee mujhe mera phone nahi mil raha. I think men ammi abbu ki taraf bhool ayi hoon." Zara said in a panicked voice. Her brows furrowed due to anxiety. (Yes, I can't find my phone. I think I left it at mom and dad's house.)

"Oho acha men abhi Adeel ko phone karta hoon to aap pooch lo ke udhar hai ki nahi." Salaar said and whipped out his phone. (Oh ok. I'll call Adeel and you can ask him if it's there or not.)

After a few rings, Adeel picked up the phone and said in a hard voice, "Assalamualaikum, kia chahiye?" (Assalamualaikum, what do you want?)

"Walaikum Assalam bhai. Men Zara bol rahi hoon." Zara replied, letting Adeel know it wasn't Salaar who he was talking to. (Walaikum Assalam brother. I am Zara.)

"Khairiat Zara?" Adeel asked. (Everything ok Zara?)

"Jee bhai. Aap mujhe dekh ke batayein ke mera phone wahan he?" Zara jumped straight to the point. (Yes brother. Can you tell me if my phone is there?)

After a few seconds of inaudible voices, Adeel replied, "Han idhr hi he." (Yes it is here.)

"Ok thank you bhai. Aap usse apne paas rakh len." Zara said and cut the call. (Ok thank you brother. Keep it with you.)

Zara started biting her nails in anxiety. Salaar saw this and gripped her hand, making her stop. "Acha, men kal laa doon ga tab tak mera spare phone istamal kar lo." He tried easing her. (Ok, I will bring it to you tomorrow, until then, you can use my spare phone.)

"Nahi. Mujhe apna phone hi chahiye Salaar. Uske andr hospital ke important patient details hen." Zara told him. (No. I need my phone, Salaar. It contains some important hospital patient details.)

"Acha men jaa ke laa deta hoon. Aap andr jao, men thori der tak ata hoon." Salaar said as he opened the door for Zara. (Ok I'll go and get it. You go inside, I'll be back in a while.)

"Thank you so much Salaar!" Zara thanked him and sort of hugged him. She exited the car as Salaar sped out of the driveway and left to get her phone.

Zara entered the house and got a little happy, knowing her plan had started working. She went and changed her clothes into comfortable ones. She saw some guards leaving their post and eventually exited through the window once it was dark.

______________________________

Salaar had just gotten Zara's phone from Adeel and left. It was dark outside and he couldn't wait to get back and have dinner with Zara, his wife. He smiled, remembering how happy she was meeting her family.

He had covered half the distance to his house when Zara's phone started ringing, it was an unknown number. Salaar picked the phone.

"I told you to watch your back. You didn't listen to me and now you are married to the devil himself." A strange male voice said from the other side.

Salaar's hands gripped the steering tightly. "Who is speaking?"

As soon as Salaar asked the question, the call was cut off. He immediately looked at the number again and realized it was a rival's number.

He was furious knowing Zara didn't tell him that she got a call from this number. He was drowning in rage when he got a call from Rayan.

"Salaar, Bhabhi bhaag gayi he." Rayan said. (Salaar, sister-in-law ran away.)

"KAHRETSIN! KIYA? TUM LOG KIDHAR THE." Salaar roared, his already furious self turning even more furious. (FUCK! WHAT? WHERE WERE YOU GUYS?) (Kahretsin - fuck in Turkish)

"Humein kuch bhi nahi pata chala. Wo Raha bhabhi ko bulane gayi to usne bataya ki wo kamre mein nahi he. Poora ghar dhoonda magar kahin nahi mili. Ab Mikael kuch guards ke sath jungle mein gaya hai Bhabhi ko dhoondne." Rayan said, explaining the situation. (We didn't notice anything. Raha went to call sister-in-law and found out she wasn't in her room. We searched the whole house but couldn't find her. Now Rayan and some guards have gone into the woods to find her.)

Salaar just cut the call without hearing further and rolled into the driveway. He immediately exited the car and rushed towards the woods. There he met Mikael with some guards standing idle.

The guards bowed as a way to show respect as they saw a raging Salaar approaching. He couldn't control himself more and released his anger, "YOU CAN'T EVEN DO YOUR JOB PROPERLY."

"Calm down. Abhi humari priority bhabhi ko dhoonda he." Mikael said, calming him down a little. (Calm down. Our priority is finding our sister-in-law right now.)

"Leave the house, I'll handle it." Salaar then left the group and went into the woods alone. He had an advantage of knowing these woods well enough to know where things were.

_____________________________

It had been about a few minutes since Zara left the house and ventured into the woods. It was really dark and she was regretting her decision already. What if some snake bit her and she died?

The thought alone sounded bad. She kept reminding herself as to why she was doing this. She had no clue where she was but she knew she was going towards the road.

After a few minutes she started hearing shouts and rustles behind her. It settled in that she was being followed and she sprinted as fast as could. However, how fast could she run on 2 tiny legs?

Soon enough, she could hear someone running right behind her. "Zara, abhi isi waqt wapis ao." Salaar shouted from behind her. (Zara, come back right this instant.)

She didn't bother replying and kept running, her heart was beating hard in her chest. Salaar ran after her, snaking his muscular arms around her waist, lifting her off the ground. His breath sounded in her ear.

"Mujhe choroo." Zara screamed, tears streaming down her face from being caught. (Leave me.)

Salaar ignored her and carried her back to the mansion with a hard face. Zara kept thrashing and screaming till they reached the house. She kept punching his chest to which he didn't even flinch.

No one was present and it scared her to no end. He could do anything with her and no one would be able to know.

Salaar brought her to their room and left her on the bed as he locked the door. Zara got off the bed, panicking as she backed away. "Salaar, door kion lock kar rahe ho?" (Salaar, why are you locking the door?)

Salaar stalked towards her, "Mene tumhare upar kabhi haath uthaya he?" He asked in a hard voice. (Have I ever hit you?)

Zara didn't reply, "Salaar-"

"Men tumse kuch pooch raha hoon Zara." Salaar said again as he took a step forward. His eyes held a dangerous glint. (I am asking you something.)

Zara took a step back, and shook her head in negative slowly. Fresh tears ran down her face from fear.

Salaar continued, "Kabhi zitayi karne ki koshish ki he?" (Have I ever sexually assaulted you?)

Zara again shook her head in negative slowly as tears streamed down her face. She was now trapped between Salaar and the wall. Her body was trembling.

"So then why... Why do you want to leave me?" Salaar grabbed her face and wiped the tears running down her cheek.

"Salaar-" Zara tried coming up with an excuse, but was cut off once again.

"Don't you get it? I am trying to protect you. I would've never married you forcefully if it wasn't for me trying to protect you." Salaar said as his brows furrowed, trying to make Zara understand.

Zara's heart twisted seeing him so hurt. These emotions made her question how she felt towards Salaar.

"I would never hurt you Zara. I love you, I really really do." Salaar as he looked at her with the utmost adoration and love.

"I-I am sorry." Zara said. She could only come up with that.

"Are you really? You didn't bother telling me about the calls you were getting?" Salaar said as he whipped out Zara's phone. Zara got confused as to what calls he was talking about.

Once she saw the number, she realized who he was talking about. "I don't know who that is." Zara said, making Salaar understand she had no clue.

"Just let me know when you get a similar call again." Salaar said as he backed away from her.

"If you try to leave me one more time, I won't be as understanding. I might not be able to hurt you but I can't guarantee that you will get to see your family again." He said and went into another room.

Zara finally released a breath she was holding. She knew what she did was bad but it also made her realize that she should give Salaar a chance. After a few seconds, she heard a loud crash.

Zara got on her feet and ran towards where the noise came from. There she found Salaar messing a room up badly. Everything was shattered, as if a storm had hit the room.

"Salaar STOP." Zara tried to stop him but her words fell on deaf ears. She could see the blood on his hands from the punches he laid on the wall. Without thinking, she ran and hugged him from behind.

Salaar stopped his rampage from the feeling of her against him. His muscular arms flexed as he let them loose.

As soon as she understood what she was doing, she slowly detached her arms from his body, leaving him alone feeling cold.

Silently, Zara grasped his hand and led him to their room. It was as if her body was acting on its own. She sent him to the bathroom to clean himself up and went looking for a first aid kit.

When she returned, Salaar was in casual clothes, sitting on the couch. She silently treated his knuckles that were bruised. Salaar looked at Zara as if she was the most precious thing in the world.

After treating his wounds, Zara put the kit away and told Salaar to sleep. Salaar silently took a pillow from the bed when Zara grabbed his arm, stopping him. Salaar's eyebrow shot up in question.

"Aap idhar hai so jayein." Zara said, looking down shyly. If she was going to give this relationship a chance then she should put all her effort in. (You can sleep here.)

"Are you sure?" Salaar asked in his deep voice.

Zara just hummed and moved to her side of the bed. Salaar silently slid into the covers beside Zara and closed his eyes. They both laid there for a while when eventually sleep hit them.

Unknowingly, they both drifted closer to each other during their sleep with Salaar's arm around Zara's waist and her back pressed against his front. It was a hectic day for both of them.

Who knew what the day would hold for them.
