Author's POV
Salaar's phone rang, waking him up from the best slumber he had gotten in his entire life. The reason for his peaceful slumber was none other than his precious love, Zara. Being disturbed by the sound of the annoying alarm, Zara had to open her eyes too.
As her eyes opened, the first thing that came into her view was a very structured and handsome face of her husband. Her husband, who was also staring at her. When Zara's eyes met Salaar's, she didn't waste a second to stand up.
The sudden jerk caused her to see dark spots and lose balance which Salaar fortunately helped her maintain by holding her hand. (A/N: Iron deficient people line up.)
"Tumhari tabiyat theek he?" Salaar asked with concern filled eyes. Zara just nodded her head not knowing what to say. Salaar relaxed while still holding her hand in his. (Are you okay?)
"Okay. Acha jaa ke tayar ho jao, mil kar nashta karte hen." Salaar said. (Okay. Go get ready, let's have breakfast together.)
"Theek he." Zara said but didn't move. Salaar got confused as to why she didn't get up only to look up and find Zara smiling at him. (Alright.)
Salaar gave her a questioning look and Zara just motioned to him with her eyes to look down. He looked down to see him still holding her hand. He immediately left her hand, clearing his throat and murmuring sorry.
Zara chuckled and got off the bed, leaving Salaar to wonder how beautiful Zara was. Once Zara entered the bathroom, he got off and gathered his clothes to get ready in the other room.
Before that, he messaged his made up family to arrive for breakfast. A rule that everyone was supposed to follow was having breakfast together. This rule was set by the one who owned the house, Salaar Hussain Sikander.
He never justified why he wanted it but he did and it was done. After Zara and Salaar were done dressing up, they went down from their room to the dining room.
Huzaifa, Mikael, Rayan and Raha were already seated and waiting for the food. Salaar went ahead and sat at the head chair with a spot vacant next to him for his queen, Zara. The carts started rolling into the room.
Zara however, didn't take a seat. Instead, she started helping the ladies that were serving the other. She took plates from the carts and placed them on the table in a manner that was accessible to everyone.
Everyone observed her being the responsible lady of the house. One observant however, had his heart filling with pride and experiencing even more love, if that was possible.
Only when everything was placed did Zara have a seat. She realized all the eyes on her once she looked up. Zara cocked an eyebrow in a questioning manner.
Salaar grabbed her hand from under the table to get her attention. Startled by the sudden action, Zara hit her hand against the table in an attempt to avoid the thing she didn't know of yet.
Once Salaar had the attention of a flushed Zara, he smiled and assured her that they weren't looking at her in a bad manner.
"Hum kisi ka intezar kar rahe hain kia?" Zara asked in a soft voice, confused as to why they were not eating. (Are we waiting for someone?)
"Nahi to." Replied Huzaifa, Salaar's brother. (Nope.)
"To phir khana kyun nahi kha rahe? Ese to thanda ho jaye ga." Zara asked in a matter-of-fact tone. As soon as she said that, she grabbed the hotpot (sort of a round bag that keeps the rotis/chapatis/tortillas hot) and started distributing the aaloo wale parathes (potato filled tortillas/rotis/chapatis) to everyone. (Then why are you not eating? It will get cold.)
Everyone said their thank you as she put one on their plate. Lastly, it was Salaar's turn, as she put one on his plate, she looked up to find him staring at her with literal heart eyes.
As she was about to go, Salaar grabbed her hand. "Shukriya meri jaan. Daal to diya he, iss masoom ko apne pyaare haathon se khila bhi den to bahut bara ehsaan ho ga." (Thank you my love. You served me, now if you feed this innocent man with your beautiful hands, it would be a huge favor.)
Huzaifa, Mikael and Rayan started choking on their food after hearing their best friend/brother being a romantic. Zara turned red knowing that they heard about his shameless flirting.
She snatched her hand from his hold and sat down in her seat, embarrassed. Raha broke the awkwardness by saying, "Bhabhi aapko meri behen hona chahiye tha, magar mujhe ye bandar jesa bhai mil gaya." (Sister-in-law, you know you should've been my sister instead I got this monkey as a brother.)
Rayan was about to open his mouth to reply to that remark but Zara just chuckled and said, "Mere bhi bhai hen. 2 bhai. Meri bhi unke saath humesha koi na koi larai howa karti thi magar mushkil waqt mein woh hamesha mere sath hote the." (I also have brothers. 2 brothers. I always used to fight with them but during difficult times, they were always there for me.)
"Apke bhai bhi apke jese ache hen?" Asked Raha. (Are your brothers as good as you?)
"Hmm. Aik bhai ne to mere peeche goli bhi khayi he." Zara's voice hardened as she side-eyed Salaar. Salaar's ears turned red hearing her speak. (Hmm. One of my brothers took an actual bullet because of me.)
"By any chance, apka koi bhai meri age ka he aur single bhi?" Raha asked nonchalantly. This remark earned a glare from everyone in the room, especially Huzaifa and her dear brother, Rayan. (By any chance, are any of your brothers my age and single?)
Zara laughed at her cheeky-ness but noticed how Huzaifa sat up straight after hearing her mention another guy. "Abhi aap ki shaadi wali umar nahi he bache." Salaar said to Raha who just pouted. (It is not your age to marry yet, kiddo.)
Raha just pouted but didn't continue further. By this time, everyone was almost finishing their breakfast. Zara got up to collect the dishes and some ladies also walked in to take the dishes away.
Zara went into the kitchen to help with the clean up. As soon as she touched one of the dishes, a helper said, "Bibi aap ye kaam na karein. Hum ye kar lete hen." (Ma'am don't do these, we can do it.)
"Magar mera bhi dil kar raha he. Aap log ye kaam akele karein ge to mujhe bura lage ga aur waise bhi mujhko aadat hai khane ke baad bartan dhone ki." Zara said. (But I want to do it. If you guys do it alone then I will feel bad plus I am used to washing dishes after meals.)
"Lekin aap iss ghar ki bibi hen aur Salaar baba ki zojah hen." The same helper said again. (But you are this house's lady and Master Salaar's wife.) (A/N: The word lady is implied as in you are in-charge/owner of the house and the word Master is not said in a slave-master kind of way but more like a respectful way, a way that means sir.)
"To kia howa agr men Salaar ki biwi hoon. Meri nazron men sab ke kaam aik jese hen. Salaar ki biwi ho ke men bartan nahi dho sakti? Aaj se iss ghar ke kaam hum mil kar baante hen." Zara said, making sure the helpers don't feel any less importance in this house. (So what if I am Salaar's wife. In my eyes, all works are the same. Being Salaar's wife doesn't give me the authority to make someone else wash my dishes. From now on, we will divide the chores of this house.)
With that said, the helpers along with Zara began washing the dishes. After they were done, Zara asked, "Aap logon ne nashta kiya he?" (Did you guys have breakfast?)
"Nahi bibi. Hum abhi karne lage hen." The helper said as she took some food out. (No Ma'am. We are about to do it now.)
"Aap log humare sath kyun nahi karte nashta?" Zara asked. (Why don't you have breakfast with us?)
"Wo...wo..." The helper tried saying but couldn't complete. (Uhm....Uhm...)
"Kia hua? Kia Salaar ne mana kia he?" Zara asked again. (What happened? Did Salaar forbid you?)
"Nahi nahi bibi. Salaar baba ne to kuch nahi kaha. Wo humne wese hi socha ke aap log pasand nahi karenge." The helper said immediately. (No No Ma'am. Master Salaar didn't say anything to us. We just thought you guys would not like it.)
"Arey ye kya baat hui. Kal se aap hamare saath khayen ge, balke aaj se hi." Zara said, frowning after hearing her explanation. (Areyy why do you say that. From tomorrow, you guys will eat with us, actually from today.)
"Bibi, humein thora ajeeb mehsoos hoga agar hum aapke saath bethen." The helper said, not wanting to come in between their family time and also to avoid feeling uncomfortable. (Ma'am, we will feel a little uncomfortable if we dined with you guys.)
"Acha to phir ese karein ke sare helpers ke liye chote dining room men plates rakhwa dena. Aap log udher baith ke khaana khaya karein jab hum bhi kha rahe hon. Aur main naa nahi sun rahi." Zara said. (Then you can set plates for the helpers in the small dining room. You guys should dine there while we are eating as well. And I will not hear a no.)
The helpers just nodded their heads with a small smile. Zara left the kitchen after making sure everyone had their breakfast.
She roamed around the huge house, exploring all sorts of rooms until she reached a study where she heard Salaar along with Mikael and Rayan. Salaar was talking to them in a very serious tone.
She silently entered but they were still in their conversation. She knocked on the door to get their attention. Once they looked up, Salaar's eyes softened visibly. "Out." He said.
Zara thought that order was for her but as soon as she was about to turn around dejectedly, all the other guys left the room. Zara just stood in her place not knowing what to do.
Salaar stalked towards her making Zara feel small, "Mein chali jaati hoon. Aap log important baat kar rahe the." (I should go. You guys were having an important discussion.)
Zara was about to turn around when Salaar grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards himself. He grabbed her small waist to stabilize her. The intimate position made Zara's stomach fill with butterflies.
"Meri jaan, aap aa to gayi magar shayad jaa nahi payein gi." Salaar said in a whisper, really close to her. (My love, you did come but you won't be able to go back.)
"Wo kion?" Zara asked again, as she placed her hands on his chest. Her hands could feel his hard muscles underneath the thin white collared-shirt. (Why is that?)
"Wo iss liye.." Salaar said as he tightened his hold on her waist making Zara suck in a breath from the tingles. (That is because..)
"Ke aap tarase howe aadmi ke paas ayi hen." He said as he pulled her in even further. They were practically glued to each other.(You came to a very desperate man.)
"Or ye tarasa howa aadmi kis cheez ke liye tarasa he?" Zara asked, pushing him. The tension in the room was heavy and could be felt from a mile away. (And what is this desperate man desperate for?)
"Aap ijazat den to men aapko batata hoon." Salaar said as he looked deep into her eyes. Salaar pressed her against the door and skillfully moved his hand towards the door knob, turning the lock shut. (If you permit, I would like to show you?)
Zara just looked at him, not sure what to do. Having an internal battle about whether she herself wanted him or was it just the sexual tension created.
This battle didn't go unnoticed by Salaar. Without hearing a reply he leaned in, pecked her forehead and moved back. He knew this wasn't the right time for this.
Zara felt the cold air hit her as soon as Salaar moved away. To her surprise, she felt disappointed. Salaar couldn't do this so he just tried to make her feel alright, "Apko mere se kaam tha?" (Did you want to talk to me?)
"Wo..uhm nahi men to wese hi ayi thi." Zara gathered herself back. (That...uhm no I just came for no reason in particular.)
"Acha. Agr tumhe koi bhi cheez chahiye ho to bata dena men le ayoon hoon." Salaar said. (Ok. If you need anything, let me know I will bring it for you.)
"Oh ok. Phir men chalti hoon." Zara said, trying to get away from this awkward conversation. (Oh ok. Then I will take my leave.)
Zara exited the room before she could hear a reply from Salaar. She let out a huge breath from relief of getting away from the heavily tense room.
She went around the house again and eventually found Raha, relaxing in the living room. She sat down with her and spent the rest of the day with her.
______________________
Just like that, one day rolled in after the other. Zara and Salaar were making progress with their relationship. They had gotten close over the past month to engage in physical contact and teasing conversations.
Today, Salaar came upto Zara, "Jaan, aaj aap ka kiya dil he karne ka?" (My love, what do you want to do today?)
"Kuch khaas nahi. Aap jo karo ge men bhi kar loon gi." Zara just replied as she got ready for the day. (Nothing special. If you want to do something then we can do that.)
"Acha theek he. Das mint tak tayar ho lo. Men niche jaa raha hoon. Aur pant pehen lo, it would be better. No worries, udhar koi nahi ho ga." Salaar said as he left the room. (Alright. Get ready in 10 minutes. I'm going downstairs. Also, it's better if you wear some western clothes. Don't worry, there won't be anyone there.)
"Sune-" Zara was about to ask but Salaar just left the room. (List-)
She wanted to ask where they were going but he left. She moved to her room's window that showed the front of the house, and a few seconds later, she saw Salaar. He stood there in a very
She took her phone and gave him a call all the while looking at him. She could feel him frown seeing her name. He picked it up anyway, "Assalamualaikum."
"Walaikum Assalam Shohar sahab." Zara teased him. She could see the tips of his ears going red. The sudden comment came to her naturally and she was a little taken back but felt comfortable saying it. (Husband dear.)
"Sab Khairiyat?" Salaar asked, gaining himself back. He looked up to the window, connecting his eyes with hers. (Everything ok?)
"Lagta hai aapko kuch zyada hi jaldi he. Apne bataya hi nahi ke hum jaa kahan rahe hen?" Zara said. (Looks like you're really excited. You didn't even tell me where we are going?)
"It's a surprise." Salaar winked at her and cut the call. Zara just smiled and got ready.
She wore a hoodie and some sweatpants and tied her hair into a ponytail as she headed down. She saw Salaar waiting for her. As soon as he saw her, he opened the door for her to get in.
She sat inside, waiting for Salaar to close the door. However, he snuck his hand behind her back and pulled her hair tie out. Zara gasped at the sudden action giving him a questioning gaze.
Salaar just said, "You look nice with your hair down."
Zara blushed at his sudden compliment but didn't say anything further. Salaar got into the driver's seat and they drove off to the 'surprise'.
Zara kept asking Salaar where they were headed but he didn't budge and gave a kiss on her hand which would automatically make Zara blush and quiet.
They reached after a while to this remote area that looked sort of like a farm. At first Zara didn't get it but once they entered the farm, she saw a lot of horses and an open field.
He brought her for horse riding. Horse riding was Zara's dream for the longest time. She had wanted to do it but never got the time or energy for it.
Salaar intertwined his hand with hers as he led her inside. It was a deserted area. No one was there, apart from the animals. "Surprise" Salaar said in his deep voice.
"Ye farm kis ka he?" Zara asked as she turned to face him with happiness in her eyes. (Who's farm is this?)
"Ye aapka hai meri jaan." Salaar replied, looking into her eyes with utmost adoration. (This is yours my love)
It took a while for the words to settle in. And when they finally did, she leaped into him and gave him a tight hug. He went ahead and purchased the farm for her.
"How did you know?" Zara asked. She wanted to know how he knew about her obsession with horse riding. She didn't mention it to him.
"I saw you saving a lot of videos about horse riding so figured you would like it." Salaar just shrugged and led her to the stables.
"Koi ghora pasand kar lo, mein aata hoon." He said, as he went towards the back. (Pick a horse, I'll be back in a while.)
Zara looked around and settled on a white Arabian horse with black patches. Salaar came back with a saddle and helped her sit. He walked her around the horse in the open field, making sure she was comfortable with the horse.
Just like that, the whole day passed on the field with the couple doing horse riding. The sun slowly began to lower, announcing the end of the day.
Zara and Salaar found a place to watch the sunset. They sat snuggling up against each other to protect each other from the winter's cold.
"Jaan, did you enjoy today?" Salaar asked, wanting to get a review on whether or not this was a good idea.
"Yess I did. Thank you so much Salaar!" Zara said as she turned to face him.
Salaar just smiled and pushed stray hair away from her face, enjoying the view of her beautiful face. Zara's heart thumped in her chest. She felt safe in this moment. She wanted to pause it forever.
This was when she realized she always wanted to see Salaar happy. His smile became so precious to her. Her feelings for him felt so surreal yet inevitable. She had to say it. She wanted him to know
"Salaar." She started.
"Jee Jaan." Salaar replied, urging her to say what she wanted to. (Yes love.)
"I think...no.... I know" She said, the words stuck in her throat.
"What is it, meri jaan?" Salaar grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"I love you!" Zara blurted out. Salaar froze, his hand leaving hers.
Hearing no response from Salaar, made her eyes water. She tried to explain, "I.....I...really do."
"I understand if you don-" She was about to tell him that she would understand if he didn't feel the same after all she did, she was ok with it. But before she could finish, Salaar's veiny arms shot out and grabbed the nape of her neck, smashing his lips on hers.
Zara stilled, feeling the softness of his lips. Zara closed her eyes, enjoying the special moment. They pulled apart after a few seconds which felt like heaven to them. Salaar still had a hold of her neck.
"I thought you lost feelings after what I did." Zara said as she tried to contain her emotions. The tears of happiness leaked from her eyes.
"Pagal larki. How could I lose feelings for you when the sole reason this heart beats is because of you." Salaar replied as he wiped the tears from her cheeks. (Crazy girl.)
"You have no idea how much I have wanted to hear that. I love you too Zara." Salaar said as his hands cupped her face, making her look at him to see the pure emotion showing on his face.
Zara hugged Salaar immediately by wrapping her hands around his neck. Salaar's hands went towards her waist to pull her even closer. Zara pulled back only to smash her lips onto him once again.
Salaar kissed her back, latching onto her neck once he was done with her lips. Zara moaned as he kissed all over her neck, biting and leaving marks. Zara's hands went into the Salaar's soft hair, pulling them making him grunt.
He stood up wrapping his hands around her waist, making Zara wrap her legs around his waist, and carried her inside the cottage. Salaar kicked the door open to the bedroom and put her down on the soft mattress landing on top of her.
His desires were coming out, not being able to stay in anymore. He pulled back one last time and looked at Zara as if asking for permission to go further. Zara looked him in the eye, giving a small nod.
That was all he needed, he proceeded to spend the night making love to his jaan. The horses outside heard nothing but moans and grunts throughout the night. But the illiterate animals were too naive to understand.
The couple had officially submitted to each other.
