Wait, She’s a Billionaire ( Sheena Lawson )
Chapter 300
Moreover, she seemed to be very close to Nathaniel.
With his thin, pale lower lip bearing the marks of his biting, Elijah remained silent,
suppressing his emotions. Watching Nathaniel approach Sheena with a tender gaze, raising his hand to touch her face, Elijah was surprised she did not evade.
Elijah acted almost instinctively, grabbing Sheenaâs arm and redirecting her attention to himself.
âWhatâs wrong?â Sheena asked.
Elijahâs eyes welled up with tears, and his face pale as he said between coughs, âSheena, Iâm not doing too well⦠It hurts a lotâ¦â
Only now did Sheena notice the deep red mark on his lower lip. Moreover, he appeared weak, not looking like he was acting.
Sheena asked, âWhere does it hurt?â
Elijah hesitated but raised his bruised wrists. âMy handsâ¦â
Underneath the handcuffs, his wrists displayed deep red marks, swollen, and shocking to behold. Yet, instead of sympathy, Sheenaâs expression turned cold.
Did this guy forget that she was also handcuffed like him?
It was clear that he did this to himself!
Sheena remained silent, her gaze piercingly focused on Elijah.
Quicker to grasp the situation, Nathaniel cast a cold glance at Maurice. âUsing handcuffs so quickly, Captain Maurice? Who taught you these interrogation methods?â
Mauriceâs face paled, and he stammered, âMr. Nicholls, they are both suspects, soâ¦
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes, emphasizing, âRelease them.â
âYâYes, Mr. Nicholls.â
With a forced tone, Maurice commanded his subordinates to fetch the keys. One minute later, the handcuffs were removed.
Elijah, naturally, took Sheenaâs hand and gently massaged her wrist. Nonetheless, the red marks on Sheenaâs wrist were faint and soon disappeared. Given Elijahâs recent selfâinflicted drama, she withdrew her hand without a trace of sympathy.
Sheena looked ahead, also voiding eye contact with Nathaniel. There was a complex emotion in her eyes, and no one knew what she was thinking.
Nathaniel took Mauriceâs interrogation seat, scanning through the case files. After a while, he
chuckled.
âWith the evidence youâve gathered so far, itâs insufficient to accuse these two. You actually considered locking them up in the detention room. Are you trying to lose your position as captain?â
Caught between obeying orders from his superiors and Nathanielâs crushing remarks, Maurice found himself in a dilemma. He promptly betrayed his superior, saying, âMr. Nicholls, itâs not my decision. I wanted to release them, but Madam Carver and my superior disagreed. With my lower rank, I had to follow orders. But now that youâre here, itâs entirely up to you.â
Melania could tell that Nathaniel was here to assist Sheena. With him around, she speculated that not even the detention room would be an option, let alone imprisonment.
Frustrated, Melania complained, âIâve heard of you, Mr. Nicholls, but it seems this case doesnât fall under the jurisdiction of the Special Investigation Department. If youâre here to observe, fine, but intervening in Captain Mauriceâs decision seems inappropriate.â
Nathaniel remained silent while Maurice cursed, âYou know nothing! Whatâs the Farlem police station in front of Mr. Nicholls? As long as he wants to take charge, everyone here must follow his orders!â
Melaniaâs expression soured.
Bethany was equally resentful.
Still leaning on her hand, Sheena maintained her languid demeanor as if she were the bystander enjoying the show.
A strange silence engulfed the interrogation room for two minutes until a trace of disdainful laughter suddenly pierced the air.
Nathaniel frowned and stared at Elijah, asking, âWhat are you laughing at?â

All eyes turned to Elijah.
Unfazed, Elijah casually quipped, âNothing much, just marveling at Captain Mauriceâs skill in flattery.â
The implication was a sub
