Aasiur—the source of all magic

Aasiurmancy—the practice of magic by the manipulation and conjuration of aasiur, split into nine branches:

* Aeromancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of air

* Aquamancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of water

* Idomancy—whereby a mage travels short distances by stepping through space

* Pyromancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of fire

* Shadowmancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of shadows

* Solarmancy—whereby a mage ca conjure aasiur in the shape of light

* Geomancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of earth, rock, soil, mud, etc.

* Thundermancy—whereby a mage can conjure aasiur in the shape of lightning

* Worldstriding—whereby a mage can travel any distance through a created portal

Abyss, the—the void that exists beyond the world and surrounds the universe

Arch-General—the overall leader of one of the seven Reign armies in the Imperium

Architects—mythical creators of the Novhar and Ravessi races

Arisen—toppled immortal godkings who ruled parts of the continent between 4,000 and 6,000 years ago

Arisen Theocracies—the empire ruled over by the immortal godkings

Atlas Gate—now-defunct portals once created and used by the Novhar to travel between worlds

Cataclysm, the—an apocalyptic event 10,000 years ago whereby the Abyss was loosed into the world

Caesidi—once the highly-trained shadowmancer assassins serving the Arisen godkings

Caetoran—ruler of the Imperium

Captain-General—commands the Dhakan in Empyria

Cavalry-General—overseer of the cavalry in an army in the Imperium

Corajus—the governor of a Reign in the Imperium

Doglord—overseer of all the doglords in an army in the Imperium; title exists only in the army of Denjin

Eld—the world on which the story takes place; the biggest in the Vast Infinite

Exalt-Lord/Lady—noble title used in the Imperium

Fensidium—a renegade mage order in the Karhes

First-General—second-in-command of an army in the Imperium

Gnostic Planes—the metaphysical planes on which aasiurmancy can be accessed

Jalin—overseer of all things magic in Drasken, including the Ren Câdern College in Kaltoren

Kandras—the overall leader of an army in Kalduran

Keizerin—overall ruler of Drasken; rules for a term of twenty years; sits on the Varkommer

Kommer—one of the ten who sit upon the Varkommer; each has their own area of control

Masantra—second-in-command of an army in Kalduran

Novhar—creators of the human race; immortal; once controlled the entire Vast Infinite

Paramount-General—the overall leader of all armies in the Imperium

Praevin—the policing force in Empyria

Ravessi—denizens of the Abyss; they caused the Cataclysm

Reign—a province in the Imperium

Shifting City—a nomadic settlement that travels around the Karhes, usually on massive wheels powered by a Surrekan engine

Shroud, the—the metaphysical, magical barrier between the physical world and the Gnostic Planes

Stonehound—the massive, wolf-like war-dogs bred by the Boratorren family; they make up the Doglords of Denjin

Surrekan engine—made of pure aasiur and created by Novhar; powers the Empyrian Tower, Kaltoren’s towers, thunderships, and Shifting Cities

Varkommer—the oligarchic council of ten that rules the Drasken Empire

Vast Infinite, the—the known universe and everything in it

Warmaster—military advisor to the Caetoran in the Imperium
