My Brothers Possessive Best Friend
Sitting in the deathly silent car I couldnât help but notice that Blake looked a lot like Dad. Weâd been driving for a good twenty minutes and they both had the same stern expression on their faces. Logan sat next to me squirming. I knew that Blake knew. The way that Logan acted towards me in the kitchen made it completely obvious that something was going on. But with the mindset that I was in I honestly didnât care and I donât think that Blake would at this moment either.
I had no idea where I was going. But in the last two hours, Iâd met my crazy son of a bitch auntie, and found out that the parents, where I thought that one was heartless and the other non avoid with the correct mindset of a parent, were actually together, and apparently loved me and Blake very much.
We were in the middle of town and Dad was honking at the traffic. âFor fuck sake.â He muttered underneath his breath.
âWhatâs the rush?â I hissed through my teeth.
âSheâs going to be pissed. Really pissed. And she is going to lash out harshly. I need to get you three to safety. None of you are going to be able to walk away from this now. Youâre too far in.â He turned up a street, that was near enough empty, and speed up. The black Jeep reefed forward and took off down the back roads. âThe quicker that youâre all behind closed doors and we can keep an eye on you, the better.â
âWe?â He glanced at me at the corner of his eyes for a moment.
âYour mother Lacey.â
âAwh great. Just the perfect little family reunion.â I muttered sarcastically.
âActually, itâs going to be just that.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean exactly?â
âWell, all of your motherâs side of the family are going to be there. We all live on the road together.â
âFucking fantastic.â
âIf itâs any consolation, everyone is excited to meet you.â
âDad, I think itâs best if you just drive for now.â Blake interrupted. The rest of the car ride was in pure silence until he pulled off into a small side road that lead up to, what looked like, an old abandoned home.
âEveryone is inside waiting for you all. Iâll give them the heads up. Take all the time you need. Youâre safe here.â Dad walked across the stoned floor and through the double doors.
âHow can you be handling this so fucking calmly Blake? Iâm going insane over here and youâre strolling about as if youâre about to go fuck your flavour of the week.â
âYouâre pissed Lacey, I get it, but donât take it out on me. Iâm running a thousand miles in my head a second here! Iâm just taking it how it comes okay. Iâve wanted a family for as long as I can remember and right now itâs looking like I might actually have one. Dysfunctional, yes, but still a family.â
âWell sorry that me and Logan werenât good enough.â
âYou know thatâs not what I meant! And you and Logan have each other now! What about me Lacey?â Shit, heâs brought it up. I felt Logan tense up behind me. Blake moved towards us and wrapped his arms around both of us so that we were in a three way hug.
âListen, Iâve known for a couple weeks and to be brutally honest, I donât give a fuck. I see how happy you make each other and that makes me happy. But seriously dude, hurt her and youâre dead.â We chuckled lightly. âWe go in there together, we come out together.â
Everyone gave one last squeeze before slowly walking towards the double doors. Blake and Logan were the people to push them open and as we stood at the threshold I was slightly overwhelmed by the amount of people looking at the three of us.
âLacey, Blake, Logan.â My Dad said as he stepped out of an office door. âThis is your family.â I couldnât help it. My eyes darted from every womenâs face, but no one stuck out to me in the way that Iâd hope she would. âSheâs not here Lacey.â He muttered. Great.
âWell, where is she then?â
âSheâs out looking for Jackie. Sheâll be back soon though.â Two elderly people stepped forward. One woman and one man. âThis is Gerald and Sophia, your grandparents.â The woman stepped forward and cradled my face in her hands.
âMy my you look just like my baby, so beautiful.â I donât know why but my heart stung from her comment. Stepping out of her embrace I looked her up and down.
âWell, Iâll have to take your word for it, you know, never seeing her and everything.â I knew that she was expecting something completely different out of me but, I was pissed. The man, Gerald, stepped forward and pushed his hand out, shaking with Logan and Blake.
âI am Gerald. Iâm glad youâre here and safe now.â He looked at me and smiled sweetly. âSheâs right you know. You look just like her. And youâll find out for yourself soon enough.â I picked at my chipped nail varnish out of nervous habit.
âWell.â Dad interrupted. âWould you like to meet everyone?â Blake stepped forward immediately. Turning I whispered into Loganâs ear.
âDonât leave me.â He wrapped his arm around me and placed his warm hand on the small of my back whilst placing a kiss on my temple.
âLace, I ainât ever leaving you baby.â My heart fluttered as he looked down at me and didnât move his eyes. He made me feel as if it was just me and him in the room.
âHi, my names Steven.â Turning, in front of me stood an overly muscled man with dark hair like mine and Blakeâs. Dressed from head to toe in pure black and wearing a short sleeved shirt that showed off his arms that were covered in tattoos, some poking out the neckline of his shirt, he looked like someone you would cross the street just to avoid eye contact with. âIâm your Uncle.â He smiled and opened his arms to me, dragging me into a bear hug. âIâve waited so long to meet you two!â
Jesus, this is not what I was expecting.
He soon let go of me and I stumbled back into Loganâs arms. âAnd you must be loverboy?â He winked at Logan as he eyed our appearance. I felt my cheeks redden at the attention. âNo harm done boy.â He said as he slapped Loganâs shoulder. âJust as long as you keep my little niece happy, we havenât got a problem.â
âSteven! Leave the poor people alone. Youâre overwhelming them already and they havenât been here two minute!â A girl my age came bouncing round the corner and came to a halt in front of me.
âHey.â Her smile soon faltered. âIâm sorry for the mess that my Mother is creating for you.â Oh shit, this must be one of Jackieâs kids!
âItâs fine.â I muttered, not knowing what else to say. âHonestly.â She half smiled at me and held out her hand like Gerald had to Logan and Blake.
âMy name is Carly. My brother over there.â She pointed to a boy who was sitting at the table stuffing his face. He waved and smiled at us with his mouth filled with a meatball sub. âThatâs Sam.â Watching him it was only then I realised how hungry I was. My stomach grumbled in response. Carly laughed.
âDerek, can I make them some food? By the time theyâve finished Ruby should be back.â
âRuby?â Blake asked.
âThatâs your motherâs name. And yes Carly, thatâs not a bad idea actually.â
âCome.â She said. âIâll fix you something to eat.â
