My Brothers Possessive Best Friend 19

My Brothers Possessive Best Friend

Carly reminded me a little bit of that chick from that vampire movie that I was forced to go watch with some girl when Blake wasn’t able to make it to his date on time. You know, the pixie looking thing. She stood in front of me, Blake and Logan, listing off all of the food items that they had in the cupboards.

“And then you have all the meats. Oh! And there’s fresh OJ in the fridge as well if any of you want any.” She smiled at the three of us as we stood in our little line, me smack band in the middle of it. Sam, Carly’s brother, got up from the table when he’d finished his food and walked over to us.

“It’s nice to meet finally. Heard a great deal about you both.” He smiled politely and shook all three of our hands. It was only then that I noticed that Logan stood slightly behind me. Ever since we’d got home he’d hardly said a word. Understandable, but still. Looking up at him he gave a me a wide, cheeky grin, making me laugh lightly.

“Quick question are you two like, you know, a thing?” Turning to Carly Logan answered before I had chance to take another breath.

“Yes, why do you ask?” She blushed and pushed her arms behind her back, looking down at the floor.

“Oh, just that you act really cute around each other.” Logan laughed lightly, agreeing with her. This seemed to make Carly feel a little more comfortable as she dropped her awkward stare contest with the floor and looked up to us smiling.

“Carly!” A light brunet, almost like caramel, hair coloured girl came running around the corner, making me turn in her direction. “Carly!” She whipped her head back and forth looking in all directions. She was almost my height and definitely had curves that would make a man look twice when she was walking down a street.

“That’s Amelia.” Carly laughed. “No relation, just a friend.” Amelia went running into the back yard screaming out for Carly some more.

“Erm, maybe you should go see what she wants?” Blake said, not taking his eyes off of Amelia’s retrieving body. Uh oh, like I haven’t seen that look before.

“If it’s urgent she would be screaming for Uncle Derek or Grandpa.”

“Not to sound harsh.” Logan said. “But if she’s no relation...what she doing with you lot?” Carly’s strong stance directly in front of us faltered for a moment before she controlled herself and answered.

“Well, let’s just say not everyone has a great upbringing.”  There was an awkward silence for a moment but it was broken by Amelia busting through the other set of kitchen doors.

“Woman! I call, you answer, marco, pollo, I thought we had this covered!” She ran over to Carly and grabbed her by the elbows, eyes wide with excitement. “You’ll never guess what I found out.”

“What?” Carly giggled.

“The STD infested bitch cheated on him! Hah! Karma, one, fucker face, zero.” She started doing a little dance before she looked up at us, her attention zoning straight away on Blake.

“Oh, er, hey. You must be Derek’s and Ruby’s kids...and the friend.” She smiled with her cheeks getting redder and redder by the second. Obviously clearly embarrassed by what we’d just witness here do. “Logan right?” He nodded and smiled.

“Lacey?” I repeated Logan’s actions.

“And Blake.” Now this, this she almost whispered. I was surprised he even heard her. But by the way they were holding eye contact I’d say that he wasn’t even paying attention. “It’s nice to meet you all.” She said a little louder but her eyes never faltering from Blake’s direction. Suddenly she shook her head, as if there was something in her hair.

“S-sorry, I’ve, erm, yeah I’ve got to go.” She rushed out before heading back the way she had entered. Me, Logan, and Carly looked up at Blake as he was again, watching the door that Amelia had just walked through.

“That was interesting.” He muttered.

~

We’d been in this place for easily over two hours now. I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t staring at the door every two minutes wanting her, Ruby, my Mother, to walk through. For the last 18 years I’d wondered what she looked like and by the end of today I was going to find out. I was going to have a mother by the end of the day. It felt like I was a five year old kid waking up on Christmas morning. But the memory of something that Blake has said earlier today dampen my spirits slightly.

The three of us sat at the table, alone. Carly had left to give us some room and go find Amelia and everyone seemed to be doing their own thing.

“You’ve had a picture of her for over a year and you never bothered to show it to me?” Blake sighed immediately and hung his head.

“I didn’t think that it would have been a good idea.”

“And why’s that?” He lifted his head and looked at me.

“Because I didn’t want to hurt you Lacey. Yeah I had the picture, but that’s it. I’ve looked at that photo a thousand times and felt to laugh, cry, rip it up, and burn it, all at once. I didn’t know what to do other then, just, well, look. I didn’t want you being all confused and bringing up old feelings.” I huffed in annoyance. I wanted to be angry but the douche was only trying to protect me.

“Well?”

“Well what?”

“Do we look like her?” He gave me a half smile.

“You more so then me. You have the same lip and eye shape as her. We both have her hair colour. You have the same smile as her and the same little glint in your eye when you’re happy.” I couldn’t help the little chuckle that left my mouth.  “And to be honest, she looks like a complete badass.” All three of us laughed.

My muma the badass.

Carly’s POV

“What was that!?” I couldn’t stop the smug grin that I knew was slowly appearing on my face. Amelia was my best friend and has been since we were in kindergarten. Let’s just say that we bonded over familiar experiences...

She’d been hurt so many times and especially recently with Simon. The bastard! After what he done to her he’s lucky I’m not dashing his head through a window and then grabbing hold of his hair to drag his face back through the shards!

Cool Carly, it’s all cool.

Breathing in and out I jumped on the bed next to Amelia. It would take a blind blithering idiot not to see how beautiful she was.

“What was what exactly?” She was averting eye contact with me. I could read this girl like a book and she knew it.

“That whole deal with Ruby’s kid. You know, tall, dark and handsome thing.” I winked and she blushed, again.

“No idea what you’re on about, I was just saying hi.” She started to pick at her blue nail varnish out of nervous habit.

“And making the eye.” I uttered.

“No I was not!” She gasped.

“Amelia.” I laughed. “You are the world’s worst liar and what makes it worse is that you know this and yet you still attempt to anyway.” She playfully shoved me in my side, making me fall back on to the bed. She soon followed suit and we were laying side my side staring up at the ceiling.

“Okay.” She said after a while. “So I may have, possibly, maybe, been giving him the eye, just a tiny tad.”

“Okay you really need to brush up on your measurements if that is your version of just a tiny tad.” She jabbed me in my side as I teased her.

“Seriously! I need to stop throwing myself at the first guy I see and like.”

“Amelia you’re making yourself sound like someone you’re not. You’re still a virgin for Christ sake.” She made several hushing noises whilst whipping her head about to make sure nobody was about.

“Yes and I don’t want the whole family to know alright.” I held up hands up in defence.

“Hey, I’m not judging.” She flopped back on to the bed and groaned in frustration. “So you going to do anything about it?”

“About what?”

“Your little love crush on Blake.”

“Just shut up Carly.”

Derek’s POV

I was sitting in my office that I shared with my wife, Ruby, staring down at the last photo that was taken as a family.

Had we done the right thing?

All we wanted to do was protect them from Jackie and her lunatic, steroid hooked back up boys. That’s all a parent wants for their kid. For them to be safe and happy. We’d gone through every possible possibility, and this seemed like the best one. Sure, it hurt like mad, it hurt both me and Ruby like mad, but at the end of the day, we just wanted our babies to be safe.

I’d noticed that they had their own little unit, the three of them. They’d had each other to rely on for the past 18 years. I was well aware of Logan’s past. That’s why we so willingly let him into their lives. It would have taken a monster to send him back there.

I sighed, bringing the photo back in to focus again. Will they ever forgive us?

Suddenly I felt a hand curl around my shoulder and the soft kiss of my beautiful wife on my cheek. “Darling, you’ll make yourself sick with worry. They’re here now, they’re safe.” I smiled up at her. She’s shrunken out of her leather Jacket and this put all of her tattoos on show. Grabbing her wrist I twisted it lightly so that I could see the one that she’d gotten in favour of me and kissed it.

“You’re right, you should be the one worrying more than me.” She placed her hand on my cheek, pushing me into her direction. She looked me dead in the eyes and smiled. Jesus, she was so beautiful. Even after all this time and she still took my breath away.

“Derek.” She paused and gently pressed her lips to mine. “Our babies are home.”
