Chapter 27

Stolen glances

We just ordered our food and man, it's going so great! Normally I'm not the kind of person who would go out to dinner but with Samantha everything feels so great and I'm so calm. I have a lot of social anxiety, especially when I'm one on one with someone, but with Sam it's so easy.

I have to admit, this restaurant is very fancy. It's might be a lot for others but Sam and I dreamed of this for months! And I'm really glad I could fulfill her that dream.

"I can't believe you got us a table here. This is perfect." Sam mumbles after the waiter left and I smile at that. "Anything for you." I tell her softly and she looks away at that, blushing embarrassedly. But then she turns back to me and reaches across the table to gently grab my hand. "I'm so in love with you, Lu." Samantha suddenly says, which makes my eyes widen and my heart skip a beat.

"Y-You are?" I ask shocked, my voice slightly shaking. She slowly nods at that and I can't hide a big smile anymore. "I'm in love with you too. God, so much." I tell her and her eyes softens at that and a big smile appears on her face as well. Then I lean over the table, gently cup her cheek with my right hand and kiss her. A few seconds later I pull back to her smiling at me widely, her cheeks slightly flushed.

"I've been wanting to tell you this for a while but figured today would be the perfect moment." Sam tells me shyly as I take her hand again. "Me too." Right then a waitress comes with our food. We thank her and then start eating, sharing food here and there. "Yours is so much better than mine!" She groans, making me chuckle. So I take some of my sushi and put it over on her plate. Oh no no no, it's yours." She says quickly but I shake my head. "I insist, it's okay, love." I reassure her and Irene blushes shyly.

"Oh my god, Samantha, Luz?" We suddenly hear Diana's voice, which makes us immediately look over to her. Diana is another friend of Samantha. She's also a cheerleader and super popular as well. But she's not alone, she's with three other girls. They all were at the Halloween party as well. If I remember it right Diana introduced them and Sam right in the beginning when we arrived at the Halloween party.

"Oh hey guys." Samantha replies with a smile, glancing at me for a second. I just shrug at her, raising my eyebrows while pressing my lips together. I then glance down at our hands, she hasn't let go of my hand yet. The girls seem to notice that and look down at our hands as well. "So..what are you two doing here?" Diana asks curiously, raising her eyebrow at us but smiling.

On that I look over to Sam, waiting for her to say something. I want her to call the shots. I'm out to basically everyone at school, she's not. So I don't want to take it away from her.

"We're on a date, actually." Sam tells them with a smile, giving my hand a soft squeeze. The girls eyes widen at that and Diana smiles widely. "Aww, that's great, guys." She tells us and we smile at that. "Well we better get to our booth." She adds but then just awkwardly sits down at the table next to us. Samantha and I can't help but chuckle at that and so do they. "Don't let us distract you two." One of the girls says to us with a smirk.

So I slowly turn back to Sam, who's already looking at me with a smile. "So..after this I thought-" "There's more? Luz, this is already too much!" Sam cuts me off but I just smile at her sweetly. "Well I want this date to be special. And you're worth it all." I tell her softly and her face softens at that. On that we hear the girls 'aww', which makes us both chuckle a little.

Samantha then looks down to hide her red face but I caught it anyway. "So what's the plan?" She asks shyly, making me smile. "Well.." I start to brush my thumb over her hand. "I thought we could go to my place? Watch a movie?" I suggest with a small smirk and she smiles at that. "Sounds perfect."

Let's just say dinner was interesting with Diana and the others sitting next to us. But we're now back in my car, driving back to my place.

"Isn't the way to your house that way?" Samantha says confused, since I drove right and not left. What I didn't tell her is that we're going to make a quick stop at the place where I first realized I have serious feelings for her. It's on a small mountain, where we had a picnic. Well..it was the last day of junior year and our art class went here to celebrate the last lesson. I just hum in responds and then shorty after park the car at the place.

"Wait, I know where we are. Didn't we all have a picnic here on the last day of junior year?" Samantha says with big eyes as she turns back to me. I just give her a soft smile before getting out of the car. I quickly walk around it to her door and open it for her. She looks super surprised but I just take her hand and lead her over to the edge.

"This is where I first realized I liked you." I start as I stop to turn around to face her. Irene's face softens at that, gently squeezing my hand. "You mean so much to me, Sam, and I couldn't imagine my life without you anymore. I know we haven't been seeing each other for that long yet but I just can't stop thinking another you, about this." I tell her softly and then take the little box out of my pocket and open it, revealing the ring to her.

Samantha's eyes widen at that and she even lets out a small gasp. "Aren't we a little too young to get married?" She suddenly jokes, which makes me chuckle. "Why does everybody think I'm proposing!" I groan annoyed and she laughs at that. "Go on, please." She tells me shyly while gently cupping my cheeks. I give her a nervous smirk and then take out the ring. "Will you be my girlfriend?" Sam instantly jumps into my arm at that and kisses my face everywhere.

"More than anything!" She answers and then presses her lips against mine. I bring my hands up on her hips as I kiss her back. We eventually pull away and I put the ring on her finger. "This is really perfect, Lu. You're the best girlfriend in the world." Sam tells me and I can't help but blush at that. "I try my best."
