Queer Prom
The Scomiche Chronicles
Scott looked at his emails noticing an email inviting him to queer prom. He wanted to take Mitch, his best friend and the man he was in love with ever since they broke up 8 years ago. He went out and headed out the door.
"Hey where are you going?" Mitch curiously asked, lounging on the couch. Scott hesitated and came up with an excuse on the spot. "Oh I had a few errands I forgot I needed to do. I'll be back in an hour." he said. Mitch nodded and let him leave. Scott got in his car and rushed to his first destination; the flower shop.
Once he arrived he picked a bouquet of red roses, carnations, and other pretty flowers. The next place he went to was called Prom Shoppe to look for a corsage for Mitch. He searched for the perfect one, but none of them looked right. Finally he saw the perfect corsage. It had pale pink flowers wrapped around it. Scott gasped , picked it up and rushed to pay for it.
He then drove to Walgreens to buy the biggest box of chocolates he could find. When he went to pay the cashier asked "Trouble with the wife?" Scott laughed and said "No no just asking my best friend to queer prom." The cashier nodded and continued scanning his item. Scott payed and rushed all the way home, driving faster then the speed limit.
He arrived home and practically ran up the stairs, eager to ask Mitch to prom. He barged in and found Mitch still lounging on the couch. Mitch looked up, curious as to why his friend was panting, but before he could speak he was handed a box of chocolates. Puzzled, Mitch tried to figure out what Scott was up to. He opened his mouth to ask but before he could Scott started speaking.
"Hey so I got this invite to go to queer prom and I was wondering if maybeâ you'd like to go with me?" Scott nervously asked. His face lit up when Mitch responded with "O my God I've always wanted to go to queer prom. Of course I'll go."
Scott let out a relieved sigh and told him the time it started. They both went into their rooms to get ready. The party had already started once they arrived. The venue was decorated with Pride colors, the lights were dimmed giving the place an air of romance, and there was an area for pictures. Scott and Mitch headed for the picture area and posed with Scott standing behindâ Mitch and both of their hands on Mitch's waist.
They went in and hung out with the other people there. Suddenly Christina Perri's Thousand Years came on. Scott asked Mitch "Can I have this dance?" Mitch smiles up at Scott and accepted. They danced together, Mitch's hands on Scott's shoulders and Scott's hands wrapped around Mitch's waist and Mitch's head on Scott's chest. They stood there, swaying from side to side, just admiring each other's beauty. Mitch decided to do something he's been waiting to do for a long time, reached up and kissed Scott on the lips.
Scott froze out of shock. Was Mitch actually kissing him? Scott decided to make the most of this moment and softly kissed him back. This wasn't like their first kiss. Their first kiss was awkward, messy and inexperienced. This kiss was slow and sweet and soft and perfect. Mitch broke away first and said "Scott, there's something I need to tell you. I'm so sorry I broke up with you in high school. I was scared. It was my first relationship and I was scared. I ended it because I wasn't ready for a relationship, but I think I am now. I really want to date you. It's ok if you don't want to date me." Mitch finished, looking up into Scott's eyes. Scott remained silent thinking about what Mitch said.
Finally he spoke. "Mitch, I've been in love with you ever since we broke up. I just didn't say anything because I thought you didn't feel the same way." Scott admitted, feeling his face turn red. "I do feel the same way. Scott I love you" Mitch shyly admitted. Scott's face lit up with pure happiness. "In that case, Mitch Grassi would you do me the honor of being my boyfriend?" Scott asked hopefully. Mitch nodded and kissed him "Yes and I promise not to mess it up this time" he responded. The two continued to kiss and dance the night away.
