Chapter 287
The Green Tea’s Crushing Victories in the ’70s
Jiao Yunshi arrived at Wen Ruguiâs dormitory. His door was opened but he wasnât inside.
She called a couple times at the door but there was no answer.
She walked inside. She had planned to just leave the hot sauce there and take off.
When she walked in front of his desk, however, she saw a notebook there. It was opened to a certain page and on there was a drawing of a girl.
The drawing was very vivid. She had never seen the girl in the drawing, but she could already imagine how pretty the girl was in person.
Looking at the notebook, she felt that her heart was pinched viciously.
It hurt some and she also felt helplessness.
Footsteps came behind her at this moment.
âComrade Jiao, what are you doing here?â
Jiao Yunshi shuddered when she heard the voice from behind her.
She turned and, with a stiff smile said, âWeâve made some hot sauce at home so my mom had me brought over some for you and Comrade Zhou. There werenât a lot so pardon us that we could only give a bottle to each of you.
Truth was, she only brought it for Wen Rugui but she no longer dare to say that out loud.
Wen Rugui, âThank you, Comrade Jiao.â
Having said that, he walked inside and closed the notebook.
There was silence in the air.
Jiao Yunshi felt incredibly awkward. âIâm sorry. I should not have just walked in like that. But donât worry, Comrade Wan, I wouldnât say anything to anyone!â
Wen Rugui turned and said nonchalantly, âThank you.â
Jiao Yunshi felt that she could not stay there any longer. Her face beet red, she said, âI have some other matters to attend to. I will see you around.â
Having said that, she dashed out before Wen Rugui could say anything.
She ran for a long time before she finally came to a stop.
Jiao Yunshi turned and looked in the direction of the dormitory. The hallway was empty and there was nobody there.
Her eyes felt dry. As though being punched by someone, she wanted to cry.
He had someone in his mind already!
And such a beautiful girl at that. She didnât even see her in person but she could already see that the two of them would make a good couple together.
She bit down hard on her lip and her throat felt dry.
The sky was overcast and the rain clouds were very heavy.
Suddenly, a lightning struck across the sky followed by a loud deafening âboomâ that exploded in midair.
Startled, Jiao Yunshi lost her footing and felt onto the ground. She felt a sharp pain in her ankle.
She struggled for a few times abut failed to get back up onto her feet. Suddenly overcame by aggrieve, she hugged her knees and started to weep silently.
The first time she saw Wen Rugui, he was standing in front of a bamboo forest, making him seem strikingly gentlemanly.
Their entire way back, he had taken care of her family caringly and attentively.
That made him incredibly attractive to her.
Of course she knew that they were not right match for each other but she couldn't help but had hopes.
But her hopes had been crushed and she felt ridiculous.
Pea-sized raindrops fell on her and they were both cold and painful. She, however, felt nothing.
At this moment, she felt someone calling out to her from not too far away. âYunshi? Where are you?â
Jiao Yunshi looked up. Tears rolled down with the rain and it was impossible to tell the tears from the rain. âMom, I am over here.â
Zhong Shulan came over with an umbrella. Seeing her daughter sitting on the ground, she changed colors. âWhat happened to you, Yunshi? Why are you sitting here?â
Jiao Yunshi, âMom, I fell and twisted my ankle.â
Hearing that it was just a twisted ankle, Zhong Shulan let out a sigh of relief. âWhy are you being so careless, child?â
Jiao Yunshi stood up holding onto her motherâs hand. âMom, why are you here?â
Zhong Shulan felt her heart ached. âYou have been gone for a while and it had started to rain. I worry about you so I came looking for you. Lucky that I have come. Who knows how long you would have stayed here otherwise?â
Jiao Yunshi tightened her lips and said, âMomâs the best!â
Zhong Shulan felt that something was off and she said, âYou have gone over to Ruâ¦.â
She was interrupted by Jiao Yunshi before she finished. âMom, letâs go. Iâm getting cold.â
Hearing that her daughter was cold and worried that she would get sick, Zhong Shulan didnât care about asking questions anymore. She hastened her steps while leaning support to her daughter.
That night, despite the hot bath, Jiao Yunshi still ran a fever.
