===================================
Shobha picked up the phone, and Alok noticed that she too had been crying so much that her condition had deteriorated, and her eyes were swollen.
He said, "Shobha, what have you done to yourself?"
"Where is Rishabh?" Shobha asked him directly, with tears welling up in her eyes. Alok turned the phone's camera towards Rishabh.
Seeing Rishabh lying unconscious with an oxygen mask on, Shobha's eyes filled with tears, which began to stream down her cheeks.
Alok said to her, "Shobha, he's fine, absolutely fine. As soon as he's discharged, we'll come to Mumbai immediately. Where is papa?"
when Alok saw him, he said, " Papa, are you okay?" Dada ji nodded slowly.
Alok continued, "What are you doing, Papa? If you become weak like this, what will happen to us? Donât worry at all, Rishabh is absolutely fine now, everything here is fine. As soon as heâs discharged, we'll come to Mumbai immediately. Okay?"
Dada ji nodded again, he was feeling too weak to say anything.
After talking for a while longer, Alok hung up the phone and, looking at Rishabh, placed his hand on his arm and leg, saying, "Karma has already given the punishment it had to. Now, no punishment will come your way, nor will any sorrow come to Anokhi. Both of you have suffered a lot, now neither of you needs to suffer any more not she." With these words, Alok closed his eyes and pressed Rishabh's palm to his forehead.
With Anant Sethi's death, perhaps the sorrow in all their lives had ended today as well.
After sitting like this for a while, Alok felt some movement in Rishabh's fingers. He quickly opened his eyes and looked at Rishabh, whose eyelids were also faintly twitching. It seemed like he was regaining consciousness.
Seeing this, a smile appeared on Alok's lips. He quickly took out his phone and called Hardik, saying, "Hardik, it seems Rishabh is waking up. Bring Anokhi and everyone here quickly."
"Alright, we're on our way," came Hardik's voice, filled with joy on the other end. Alok hung up the phone and leaned in close to Rishabh, softly calling, "Rishabh..."
Rishabh slowly opened his eyes, but as soon as the light hit them, he closed them again. After a moment, he opened them once more.
The first thing he saw was the ceiling. He looked around the room, and when he saw Alok, a small smile appeared on his lips.
Alok gently stroked his head and said, "Rishabh, are you alright?"
Rishabh nodded slightly. He tried to remove the oxygen mask from his face, but Alok stopped him, saying, "Rishabh, what are you doing?"
"Papa, I'm fine," Rishabh said as he removed the oxygen mask from his face and, looking around, asked, "Where is everyone else? And Cupcake, is she okay? Where is she?"
Though Rishabh's voice was weak, Alok could clearly hear the worry and anxiety for Anokhi in his tone.
Alok smiled and said, "She's absolutely fine, Anokhi and everyone else too. They should be here any moment."
They were still talking when everyone else arrived with Anokhi in Rishabh's room. Seeing that Rishabh had regained consciousness, smiles spread across everyone's faces.
Vikram, with slightly moist eyes, smiled and said, "Man, I swear, if you weren't lying on this bed, I would have put you in such a state that you'd need another surgery. You useless guy, you scared us all!"
Vikram's words clearly showed his annoyance.
But Rishabh just smiled but said nothing, his eyes were only on Anokhi, who was staring at him. Alok made Anokhi sit on the chair he had been sitting on earlier.
Rishabh and Anokhi were silently looking at each other, as if they were asking each other about their well-being with their eyes.
Suddenly, a flood of tears welled up in Anokhi's eyes, and she began to cry, resting her head on Rishabh's arm. Her sobs filled the room and seemed to slow Rishabh's heartbeat.
He was about to stop Anokhi when Vikram said, "Let her cry. You have no idea what sheâs been through. The moment you lost consciousness, she lost hers too. There were no tears in her eyes, no expressions on her face. She had become lifeless. Now, after so long, she has found your shoulder to cry on, so let her cry."
Hearing Vikram's words and seeing Anokhi cry, Rishabh's eyes also became slightly moist. He truly couldnât imagine what Anokhi must have gone through seeing him in that state.
Rishabh loved Anokhi just as much. If Anokhi got even a small injury, it would cause him pain. And here, it was a matter of Rishabh's life. She must have been feeling exactly same as Rishabh did when Anokhi was kidnapped, may be more than that.
Rishabh glanced around at everyone, and they quietly left the room. Rishabh gently called out to Anokhi, "Cupcake," but Anokhi kept crying.
As time passed, her sobs turned into hiccups. She was crying so much that her condition was worsening. Rishabh couldnât bear it anymore and said, "Anokhi, look at me, I swear to you."
Hearing his oath, Anokhi raised her tear-streaked face. Her hair was disheveled, her face was covered in tears, and her fair skin had turned red. Her eyes were swollen from crying so much. Rishabh had never seen Anokhi in such a distraught state before.
It felt as if someone had ripped his heart out of his chest. Seeing Anokhi in this condition, Rishabh said to her, "Come closer, Anokhi."
Anokhi moved a little closer, and Rishabh said again, "Come even closer, right next to me."
At his request, Anokhi, still crying, moved right up to his face. As soon as she was close, Rishabh placed his lips on hers, silencing her sobs.
Anokhi, with her eyes tightly closed, kept her lips on Rishabh's, feeling him.
After a while, Rishabh pulled away and, looking into her eyes, said, "Stop crying, just stop. Cupcake, I canât bear to see you cry like this. Please, Iâm already in this state otherwise, I would have comforted you. Why are you causing me pain by crying like this? Iâve told you a thousand times, I canât see tears in your eyes."
"Then why did you do it? Why did you do that? Why did you take that bullet to your chest? It had my name on it, didnât it? Anant Sethi wanted to kill me, so why did you come in front of me? Seeing you in that state, I was already devastated. Do you think it doesnât hurt me to see you like this?" Anokhi asked, complaining.
After a moment of silence, Rishabh replied, "I did it today, Iâll do it tomorrow, and Iâll do it every time in the future. Every pain, danger, and sorrow meant for you will be mine, Cupcake."
Rishabh spoke with love, confidence, and a sense of right, looking into her eyes, and seeing the emotions in his eyes, Anokhi was left speechless.
Rishabh raised his hand and gently hugged Anokhi. Though the touch of her body against his chest caused Rishabh pain, at that moment, he could endure the pain, but he couldnât bear to see Anokhi like that.
The peace he felt when he held Anokhi in his arms was worth enduring a thousand pains. Anokhi, too, closed her eyes in peace as she leaned into his embrace.
After a while, Anokhi opened her eyes and gently kissed Rishabh on the cheek. Seeing her, Rishabh asked, "What was that for?"
Anokhi replied, "For coming back to me."
"But Cupcake, Iâm the same Rishabh who..."
Rishabh was about to say something, but Anokhi placed her hand over his mouth, shook her head, and looking into his eyes, said, "I donât want to hear anything, nothing at all. Especially not about the past. My past is filled with pain, and my future has you in it, so I choose you."
Hearing Anokhi's words, Rishabh looked at her, and she looked back at him. Just then, Hardik entered the room, saying, "If you two are done talking, can I check on my patient?"
With Hardik's arrival and his words, Anokhi moved away from Rishabh and, standing up, said to Hardik, "Yes, Iâm going outside." She said this and left, while Rishabh watched her go.
Hardik came over to him, checked him thoroughly, and said, "Yes, everything is fine."
"When will I be discharged?" Rishabh asked Hardik.
Just then, Vikram, who was entering the room, heard Rishabh's question and responded, "Why are you in such a hurry to get discharged? At least show some mercy to the nurses here."
Hearing Vikram's words, Hardik and Rishabh looked at him, and Vikram continued, "Yeah, I was just passing through the hospital corridor when I overheard two nurses sighing as they admired your handsome face. So, give them a few more days to take care of you. Poor things will be happy."
Hearing Vikram's words, Rishabh glared at him furiously, and Hardik started laughing. Still glaring at him, Rishabh said, "You're lucky that I'm lying on this bed in this injured condition, or else you'd be in this bed. So, control your tongue, or else the first thing I'll do when I recover is pull it out your tongue."
Rishabh was angry at him, but Vikram didn't seem affected by his anger at all. He just kept smiling at him with his teeth showing. Hardik, smiling, said as he was leaving, "You two are hopelessâone teases, and the other gets teased."
On the other hand, Shivay, Shivika, and Abhinav had taken care of the entire Rang Mahal matter. They had told the Kolkata Commissioner everything truthfully, and by using a mix of intimidation and persuasion, they got him on their side and had the fire at Rang Mahal declared as an accident, thus closing the file.
With the file closed, the stories of Anant Sethi, Kalindi, and Rang Mahal also came to an end. Even though it was officially declared an accident, a sense of fear settled in the minds of those men in Kolkata who were involved with Rang Mahal, who used to visit it to brighten up their nights. But while some people were afraid, every girl in Kolkata was happy that now no monster would show their monstrosity to them, and no one would take them away from their families.
