Fan Shunâs assistant did not leave right away. Since his boss rarely took interest in anything, the assistant could not help glancing at the laptop screen. Sadly, the assistant did not understand what he was looking at and did not dare to ask his boss about it.
Fan Shun closed the laptop and thought about Yuan Huanâs recent predicament and Cheetahâs fate. He said to the assistant after a moment, âCheck on Yuan Huan and see if anything has happened to him.â
The assistant nodded.
Since he had all the right connections, the assistant was able to report back to his boss about Yuan Huan the next morning.
Fan Shun had already figured out that something must have happened to Yuan Huan the previous day. Sure enough, he received confirmation of his speculation. He naturally felt annoyed by the news. âWere you able to find the culprit?â
The assistant shook his head. âWe were only able to conclude that Mr. Yuan has completely lost his mind. We have no idea what caused this. The culprit covered his tracks well enough.â
Fan Shun narrowed his eyes. Moments later, he said, âDid you say that he has lost his mind?â
âThatâs right. Our men said he has gone crazy.â The assistant paused before he added. âShall we bring Mr. Yuan back? Perhaps we have a higher chance of treating him at the base.â
âDonât bother.â Fan Shun spoke mildly. âWe canât take him away.â
The culprit could have killed Yuan Huan once and for all, but he chose to drive him insane which meant that the culprit was not afraid of anyone. If he insisted on taking away Yuan Huan, it might not be worth it.
Fan Shun thought about someone who might be able to help. He looked at his assistant and said, âMake an appointment with Shangguan Hou. I want to see him.â

Meanwhile, at the university.
Huo Yao did not encounter Yuan Xi in class. She checked with Yuan Xiâs dormitory mates and realized that Yuan Xi went straight back to her room after lunch in the canteen.
When she got to the dormitory, Yuan Xi was lying in bed listlessly. She was not sick but simply looked preoccupied.
The moment she saw Huo Yao, she became uneasy.
Since Yuan Xiâs roommates were also in the room, Huo Yao raised her brow and asked. âCan we talk somewhere private?â
Yuan Xi was embarrassed to see Huo Yao. She struggled inwardly sometime before she got up from the bed.
They walked to the track and sat down on the stairs.
Yuan Xi held her hands nervously with her head lowered. After some time, she finally said apologetically, âIâm so sorry about my older brother. He kept trying to make me ask you out, so I knew something was wrong. I canât believe he managed to get you this time.â
Huo Yao reached her legs out and placed them on the steps. She glanced at Yuan Xi languidly. âIs that why you didnât go to class?â
Yuan Xi touched her nose awkwardly. âI didnât know how to face you.â
âWell, Iâm fine now, right?â Huo Yao patted Yuan Xi on the shoulder. âYou donât have to feel bad. It wasnât your fault.â
Yuan Xi smiled sadly and shook her head. âNo, it was my fault. If you werenât friends with me, my older brother wouldnât have done this to you.â
Huo Yao sighed gently. Sure enough, Yuan Xi was a kind and honest girl.
âOh yes. How did we escape yesterday?â Yuan Xi tried asking Zhuo Yun about it last night, but he did not know either.
âI think you donât know it yet. Your brother has lost his mind,â said Huo Yao succinctly as she shrugged.
âWhat do you mean by âlost his mindâ?â Yuan Xi was stunned. âWhy would he suddenly go crazy?ân/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Huo Yao patted her on the shoulder and stood up. âWhatever the reason, you donât have to be afraid anymore.â
Yuan Xi looked at Huo Yao and did not quite understand what she meant.
When Yuan Xi finally went home for the weekend after a couple of days and saw Yuan Huan with her own eyes, she finally realized what Huo Yao had meant.
