“Our foster daughter was the sole reason Secretary Lin took notice of Lu Corporation.” He Xiaoman paused before she said in regret, “If your family wasn’t so patriarchal, I wouldn’t have treated her so badly.”

If she did not ill-treat her, everything would be different now.

He Xiaoman did not feel like answering his questions. After some time, she replied softly. “Why don’t you find out for yourself?”

“But I bet you won’t be able to find anything about their connection. Enough. I am tired. I am heading back to the room.” He Xiaoman picked up her purse before she went upstairs listlessly.

After Lin Shuwen left the campus, he received a call from Fang Chen. Fang Chen wanted him to head to his place, and retrieve his medical records to bring them to Fang residence.

Lin Shuwen asked Mrs. Fang quizzically as he handed her the records. “He is already recovering. What do you plan to do with these records?”

Fang Chen had only told Lin Shuwen to give his mother the medical records without explaining the reason, so Lin Shuwen was curious about the situation.

Despite her son’s assurance last night that he was much better, she was still not ready to believe it. Instead of answering Lin Shuwen, she could not help asking him. “Did you gang up with my boy to lie to me about his condition?”

The moment Lin Shuwen heard what she said, he smiled. “You are overthinking it. I would never lie about something so important. Fang Chen is really doing much better.”

Mrs. Fang scrutinized him briefly and stopped probing. She placed Fang Chen’s medical history inside her purse before she took the car keys and prepared to leave.

“Go back to work. I am going out.”
