Chapter 189: Reemployment (3)
I Returned as a High School Girl
It was almost midnight. Hearing So Ha-Jin entering the home, the light in the master bedroom turned on.
âDid you just get back?â Ha-Jinâs mother asked while forcibly opening her drowsy eyes.
Ha-Jin said while taking off her shoes, âYou shouldâve just stayed in bed. Why did you get up?â
âI canât just stay in bed when my daughter has come back home. Where have you been?â
âSeoul.â
âTo meet that young actress lady you guarded last time?â
The mother also knew that Ra-Eun had called Ha-Jin. Ha-Jin nodded and started packing her things once she went back into her room. n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
âHuh? What are you doing?â
âIâm going back to Seoul.â
âWhy?â
There was only one reason why.
âI decided to do bodyguarding again.â
â...?â
The mother couldnât help but be dumbfounded by her daughterâs continuous flips in attitude.
***
Ha-Jin moved into the home that Ra-Eun had provided for her as soon as she arrived back in Seoul. She then changed into a female suit and adjusted it in front of a full-length mirror. Today was her first day at her new job.
âI never thought Iâd come back so soon.â
Ha-Jin had gone back down to her hometown with a firm resolve that she would quit bodyguarding, but she had expected herself to get back into it once or twice. That was how much she loved her job. However, this was far too soon.
Not even she had been able to overcome the sweet temptation of money. There was no one who would refuse when they were offered three times their former salary.
Ha-Jin drove to Ra-Eunâs building and went to her private security company office.
âWho the hell are you?â
âThis place is a restricted area. Get out this instant.â
â...â
The gangster-like men that Ha-Jin had passed by on her first time here picked a fight with her.
âLike Ra-Eun said, you still lack education,â Ha-Jin remarked while sighing.
âHyung-nim! This womanâs out of her mind!â
The eyebrows of Park Du-Chil, the scarred man as well as one of Ma Yeong-Junâs executives, strongly flinched. He stuffed his hands deep inside his pockets and approached Ha-Jin.
âWho the hell do you think you are to say our chairwomanâs name willy-nilly? Huh?â
Du-Chil intimidated Ha-Jin with his height, taller than her by the length of her head, but Ha-Jin remained expressionless despite the huge difference in their builds. Her silence caused a vein to pop out in Du-Chilâs head.
âYou must be out of your mind!â
He had simply raised his hand to intimidate Ha-Jin; he had no intention to hit her. However, that had been a huge mistake. Ha-Jin raised her left hand and struck Du-Chil right on his neck. She then extended out her right leg and tripped him. Du-Chil fell backwards after getting attacked on his neck and leg with no time to react.
Boomâ!
Du-Chil fell on his butt, but his upper body remained upright because he had stretched his arms back as he fell. Ha-Jin was impressed.
âWow. I was trying to make your entire body fall, but I guess your reflexes arenât as bad as Iâd expected.â
âCrazy bitch!â
Du-Chilâs rage overpowered the momentary confusion he had experienced from the surprise attack.
âI was going to go easy on you because youâre a woman, but youâre dead now!â
Whooshâ!
Du-Chil rapidly swung his right fist. Although it lacked accuracy, it was quite a fiery punch.
âItâs not bad, but...â
Ha-Jin slightly twisted to the left. She had perfectly dodged Du-Chilâs fist with the slightest movement.
âI suggest you rein in that temper of yours.â
She raised her knee and struck Du-Chilâs abdomen. His back bent like a shrimp, experiencing massive amounts of pain from getting struck right on his solar plexus. Du-Chil recalled a similar experience in the past. The woman who had given him that experience arrived along with Yeong-Jun.
âThat was marvelous,â Ra-Eun remarked.
The men bowed at ninety-degree angles once they saw Ra-Eun slowly clapping.
âGood morning, Chairwoman!â
Ra-Eun exchanged glances with Yeong-Jun, which he then went to help Du-Chil up.
âAre you okay?â he asked.
âB-Boss! That bitchââ
Just then, Ra-Eun raised her voice. âWho are you calling âthat bitchâ? Thatâs no way to address your new training instructor.â
âPardon?â
Du-Chil simply blinked repeatedly, still unable to fully process what Ra-Eun had said. Meanwhile, Ha-Jin was surprised by how the situation was playing out.
âHow long have you been here for, Ra-Eun?â she asked.
âFrom when you were educating Du-Chil.â
âYou couldâve resolved the misunderstanding if you were here all along...â
Ha-Jin wondered why Ra-Eun had just sat back and watched.
âI wanted to see what you were capable of, and I thought these guys also needed a lesson on what kind of person you are.â
Ra-Eun smiled while looking at Du-Chil, who was still rubbing his abdomen. It was no less than the devilâs smile.
âWhat did you think after getting floored by her?â she asked.
â...Sheâs no joke.â
âDid it leave a greater impression on you than what Iâd done?â
âNo, I wouldnât say that...â
His memory of getting floored by Ra-Eun had been far more memorable for Du-Chil. Once the commotion died down a little, Ra-Eun introduced Ha-Jin to everyone once again.
âLike Iâd mentioned before, this is the instructor who will allow you all to transform from gangsters to bodyguards. You all just saw her skills with your own eyes, so make sure you follow her instructions well from now on. Got it?â
âYes, Chairwoman!â
The men once again bowed at ninety-degree angles. Ha-Jin could not comprehend what was going on at all.
âJust who in the world are you, Ra-Eun?â
The Kang Ra-Eun that she was seeing right now was completely different from the one that she remembered.
Ra-Eun smiled meaningfully and said, âYou donât need to know.â
There was no reason for Ha-Jin to know in detail either.
***
Things had become far more stable once Team Leader So Ha-Jin entered Ra-Eunâs security company. Ra-Eun was far too busy with her acting career and business, so she could immediately see the effects once someone was available to educate the men in her place. However, Ra-Eun was not planning on leaving Ha-Jin just as an instructor; her main role was to be Ra-Eunâs chauffeur as well as her personal bodyguard.
Ha-Jin got in the driver's seat, started the car and said to Ra-Eun sitting in the back seat, âHere we go, Ra-Eunâ I mean, Chairwoman.â
Since Ra-Eun was now her boss, Ha-Jin now had to call Ra-Eun âChairwomanâ instead of her name.
Ra-Eun nodded and remarked while crossing her arms, âAlright, letâs see if your driving skills hold up.â
Ra-Eun was already well aware based on her past life knowledge that Ha-Jin was a good driver, but she decided to check just in case.
âIâll have to see for myself.â
There were times when things did not go exactly as she knew of the future, hence she had decided to test Ha-Jinâs driving skills. Ra-Eun left the steering wheel to Ha-Jin as they went for a short drive from Gangnam to Suwon.
âYouâre a good driver,â Ra-Eun mentioned.
She was sure of it only five minutes after departure. She could tell just from the way Ha-Jin turned the steering wheel. Ha-Jin lightly nodded as she was praised by Ra-Eun and focused back on the road.
âThank you, Chairwoman.â
Ha-Jin had driven countless times since it was practically a requirement for a bodyguard, so she had not been worried in the slightest. However, she had been bothered by something else.
âWhere did you hire those people?â
âAre you talking about Misma and his men?â
âMisma?â
âItâs a nickname that I gave Mister Ma Yeong-Jun. I thought of it myself.â
âAha...â
The information did not seem all that useful to Ha-Jin. She was more curious about how their relationship with Ra-Eun came to be. But before that, Ra-Eun wanted to confirm something.
âYou remember the contents of the contract that you signed, correct?â
âYes.â
There was a unique clause in the contract: The employee is subject to any and all punishment in the case that they reveal any secret they are aware of to an outside party. Confidentiality was common in contracts, but Ra-Eunâs contract was extremely strict with the punishment in the case that it was broken. There was likely a reason why.
âI told you that I had a revenge plan, didnât I? Thatâs why Iâm purposefully gathering people,â Ra-Eun stated.
âWho are you trying to take revenge against...?â
Ha-Jin wondered who all this preparation was for.
Ra-Eun shrugged her small shoulders and answered, âCongressman Kim Han-Gyo.â
It had been a while since she had spoken her mortal enemyâs name.
***
Ha-Jin was also very well aware of who Congressman Kim Han-Gyo was, since she had also guarded him before.
âDid Congressman Kim Han-Gyo wrong you somehow, Ra-Eunâ I mean, Chairwoman?â
âYes, to a point that you wouldnât believe.â
He had framed her for every injustice that he had committed and then took her life. There was likely no greater sin than that. Ra-Eun still held an enormous grudge against Han-Gyo after all this time. However, she did not reveal what Han-Gyo had done to her because that was related to her return to the past; she would only sound like a lunatic if she said something so unrealistic.
.
Hence, Ra-Eun answered vaguely, âMy opponent is an extremely influential politician, so thatâs why Iâve also been raising my influence while making ample preparations.â
âThen is your business and acting careerââ
âYes, they are part of my plan.â
Ra-Eunâs tenacity was impressive. Ha-Jin couldnât believe that Ra-Eun had been doing all of this simply for revenge.
âThe guys that youâve been teaching used to be just run-of-the-mill gangsters.â
âIâd thought as much.â
âBut I saw that their fists could be of use. Especially Misma.â
âYouâre talking about Mr. Ma Yeong-Jun, right?â
âYes.â
Ha-Jin had understood Ra-Eunâs abbreviation this time.
âIâm sure theyâll be a great help to you once you train them well,â Ra-Eun remarked.
âI understand.â
Ha-Jin had become Ra-Eunâs as soon as she signed the contract. Since she had decided to become the closest of Ra-Eunâs associates, she would now never doubt any of her actions. However, Ha-Jin couldnât help but worry.
âCongressman Kim Han-Gyo is an extremely influential man in the Korean political world...â
In short, Ha-Jin was asking Ra-Eun if her revenge would really go according to plan. A corner of Ra-Eunâs mouth rose. Like Ha-Jin had mentioned, it definitely would not be easy. However, she was still confident.
âIâll make sure it gets across Congressman Kim Han-Gyoâs head that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.â
Ra-Eun would prove that old proverbs existed for a reason.
1. The two cities are about twenty minutes away by car.
