Chapter 192
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 192
Kevan waited by the door and yanked it open the moment the doorbell rang, giving Dylan a scare.
âYouâre alone? Whereâs Larissa?â Dylan scanned the house with his neck outstretched and immediately spotted Larissa, who was waving at him from the middle of the living room. âLarissaâs here, so why did you summon me?â Dylan asked impatiently.
*Come in first, then weâll talk.â Kevan wasnât in a rush to explain, and he went into the study to grab a pen and paper. In the quick two minutes he was gone. Larissa pulled Dylan to her and told him the situation in a whisper. âMr. Rogers is drunk and he thinks Iâm the woman he has feelings for. Now he even wants to marry me.â
Dylan was one of the few who knew about the situation. After listening to Larissaâs explanation, he connected the dots and immediatel guessed what Kevan was up to. He had to admit that Kevan was very cu nning.
When Kevan came out of the study, Larissa and Dylan instantly sat upright and pretended as if nothing had happened. He handed the per and paper to Dylan and instructed, âWrite a more formal letter of guarantee in Lariâs perspective guaranteeing that she will get engaged with me at the City Hall tomorrow. If she fails to keep her promise, then she will be at my disposal When it came to her fate, Larissa couldnât help but interrupt, saying, âIsnât the phrase âbe at your disposalâ too vague? What if you do something illegal?*
âThen what do you want to change it to?â Kevan sounded like he was asking for her opinion, but his downtumed lips and icy gaze showed his displeasure. Larissa actually wasnât brave enough to say another word at that moment. Dylan grabbed her arm, but he shifted his grip onto her sleeve when Kevan shot him a chilly glare. âWait here for a moment. I need to say a few things to Larissaâ said Dylan.
This time, Kevan agreed right off the bat. âGo ahead.â Larissa was still in a daze when she followed Dylan out onto the balcony. âWhat do you want to tell me?â she asked. Dylan shut the glass doors of the balcony tightly so that their voices wouldnât carry into the living room to Kevan.
âLet me tell you something.â Dylan put on a bitter expression and said, âKevanâs alcohol tolerance is really low. Heâs very annoying whenever heâs drunk. Iâm sure you know how bossy and narcissistic he usually is, but once heâs drunk, he can be a hundred times more narcissistic and bossy. Heâs just like a child who wonât give up until he gets what he wants.â
Dylan was Kevanâs best friend who had been with him for a long time. He had seen all the different sides of Kevan, so his words were
reliable.
*Then what should we do now?â Larissa asked anxiously. According to what Dylan told her, she must sign the letter of guarantee that night, or Kevan would never give up. However, if she really signed it â¦
Dylan naturally knew what she was worried about. âJust go ahead and sign it. Itâs okay.â He wanted to pat her on the shoulder, but the palpable stare fixed on his back made him drop his hand. âThereâs actually a bright side to him being drunk. He wonât remember anything
he did or what others did to him. Soâ¦â He smiled cun ningly as he continued speaking. âIf you come across another incident like this, just
scold him, hit him, and scold him. Vent all the anger youâve pent up toward him all at once. The same goes with your anger over other
issues.â
He had obviously done it many times before. âAs for the letter of guarantee, Iâll write it according to his instructions, and you just have to sign it. Weâll pacify him first, then Iâll get rid of any evidence of the letter when he doesnât notice. Then weâll act like this never happened. But, even if he keeps the letter and recalls what happened tonight, itâs okay. You already said that he just thinks youâre the woman he
loves, so he wonât force you to marry him.â
