Larissa didn’t give Xavier a chance to take her by force.

She knew that confronting Xavier head-on was not a wise move, so Larissa chose to compromise before the bodyguards took action.

“I will return home with you,” she said, “but before that, I need to ask for leave from the general manager and delegate my work to others.”

“Don’t try to be clever with me.” Xavier warned her, “I have a flight scheduled for 8 pm, so you must be here before 6 pm. If you try to escape, I’ll go to your general manager.”

Larissa had no intention of playing any tricks. Since Xavier knew where she worked and lived, it would be as easy as pie to catch her, no matter how hard she tried to escape.

However, Larissa couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.

Xavier had always despised her and thought of her as a burden.

When she was still living with the Seymour family, he treated her as if she were invisible.

He reached out his palm towards Larissa. “Hand over your phone. I will consider it collateral, so you won’t run away.”

Initially, Larissa had planned to contact Dylan as soon as she exited the executive suite, but now her plans were completely ruined.

She handed over her phone obediently, but Xavier was still not satisfied.

He assigned a bodyguard to accompany her. “Accompany Miss Larissa while she goes to request a leave of absence and explain the situation clearly to her supervisor.”

Larissa and Xavier’s bodyguard went to meet the general manager, Mr. Compton.

Initially, Mr. Compton was reluctant to approve Larissa’s leave of absence. “You know how busy the hotel has been lately, and you’ve already taken time off before this due to various reasons. If you insist, your performance assessment might be affected this year.”

On the other end of the phone call was Xavier himself.

The expression on Mr. Compton’s face changed from his initial confusion to shock, and lastly to one of flattery.

“It’s a serious matter since your mother fell ill. The hotel management wouldn’t be so cold-hearted to turn down your application. I will

approve your leave, so you can go back and spend more time with your mother.”

This outcome was within Larissa’s expectations.

“I will only take leave for three days maximum. After the holidays around New Year’s, I will definitely return to work regardless of any circumstances.” Chapter 197

Larissa emphasized the word “definitely” and stared at Mr. Compton meaningfully, hoping he had received her hint.

Xavier’s bodyguard was exceptionally vigilant. He grabbed onto her wrist and whispered in a low tone, “Miss Larissa, it’s time to leave.”

Larissa handed over her work to her assistant as Xavier’s bodyguard stood nearby, glowering at them.

Larissa’s assistant was too intimidated to ask any questions and fled the scene with her documents as soon as she was done clarifying issues regarding her work.

Larissa’s hope of pulling a fast one on Xavier was in vain.

Now, she could only rely on Mr. Compton in case anything happened to her after she returned to Bartham.

She prayed that he would quickly realize that something was wrong and call the police to save her.

Xavier didn’t even let Larissa go back home to pack her luggage. They left straight for the airport.
