Chapter 371
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 371
The unexpected pairing left Larissa completely bewildered. She couldnât comprehend how these two individuals had ended up together.
âWhatâs this?â She shook the wedding invitation in her hand, waiting for Kevan to provide an explanation.
Kevanâs response was concise but lacked emphasis, as always. âCody and Lana are getting married, as you can see.â
She suppressed the urge to roll her eyes and asked patiently. âHow did they ⦠end up getting married?â
âLana is pregnant.â His answer sent shockwaves through her,
âBut isnât she with Lucas? How did she suddenly become pregnant with Codyâs child?â What else had she missed while she was in
recovery?
âNot sure,â he lied with remarkable composure. âIâm not close with Lana, after allâ
âThatâs true,â she thought. Lowering her head, she stared at Lanaâs embossed name on the invitation, rubbing the paperâs corner with her
thumb, contemplating the intricacies of the situation.
Given Lanaâs behavior, Larissa was confident that her relationship with Cody must have been driven by his wealth. But what did Cody see
in Lana? It couldnât be that simple.
Kevan asked her, âAre you going?â
She looked up, her face filled with confusion. âGo where?â
He gestured toward the invitation she held with his chin. âThe wedding, of course.â The wedding was scheduled to take place in half month, likely hastily arranged to conceal Lanaâs pregnancy.
âIâm not going,â she replied without hesitation.
She was about to divorce Kevan, so there would be no further ties between her and Cody, and she had no intention of involving herself
with Lana any further.
âCoolâ He nodded, indicating his understanding of her decision.
âOh, by the way,â she said. âDonât you have anything to say to me?â
He raised an eyebrow. âAbout what?â
âCody and Ruby are getting divorced.â she reminded him.
Only then did Kevan realize what Larissa meant. âSo?â He feigned ignorance.
âSince theyâre getting divorced, donât you plan to divorce me too?â She didnât beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
âNow is not the time. If I divorce you, my mom will definitely think itâs because of Ruby.â
She wanted to retort that that was precisely the case, but in the end, she held back.
âWait a little longer,â he said. âAt least until Dylan is gone.â
âSuit yourself.â She laughed nonchalantly. âAfter all, time is on my side, not yours.â
He glanced at her, struggling to maintain his expressionless face. âIâm not impatient,â he said. âThe idea of divorce has always been. brought up by you. Iâm simply accommodating your wish.â
Although what he said was true, it infuriated Larissa. It seemed like he was shilling all the blame onto her while absolving himself entirely.
âFine, then,â she said, seething with anger. âLetâs continue like this and not get divorced?â
His hands trembled as he involuntarily clenched his fists. âOkay,â he said.
