Chapter 392
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa was caught off guard by her question and instinctively denied it. âWell I havenât eaten for a day, so itâs not unusual to be starving. right?â
âThat makes sense.â Wendy nodded and accepted her explanation.
However, the situation persisted into the next day. Larissa once again found herself being pulled out of the bed by Wendy. They had to complete the admission procedures at the language academy, so they had to get up early. Larissa had set the alarm but was so deep in her sleep that she didnât hear it.
Wendy couldnât help but complain, âAre you a pig? You were asleep the whole day yesterday. How could you still sleep at night?â
Worried that Larissa might be experiencing jet lag, Wendy had planned to stay up all night chatting with her. To her surprise, when she returned from taking a shower, she found Larissa last asleep in her room.
With a sleepy yawn, Larissa admitted, âI might actually be one.â
Wendy prepared breakfast. There was toast fried eggs, bacon, and a cup of milk. Although it was a normal serving, Larissa wasnât full Ultimately, she finished all the white bread with jam at Wendyâs house.
âThereâs definitely something going on with you. Let me take you to the hospital for a checkup once weâre done with the admission.â Wendy looked worried.
Larissa was not afraid of seeing doctors, and she did, as a matter of fact feel something strange too.
However, she just thought it was simply because she wasnât used to being in a new environment, so she believed going to the hospital was unnecessary.
However, Wendy didnât care and ultimately look her there. Larissa wasnât good with the language here, so she left the talking to Wendy. Larissa sat on the side, listening to Wendy chatting with the doctor, and was in a dane. Though she couldnât grasp the exact details of the conversation, she could sense Wendyâs shock and observed a complex gaze directed toward her.
Larissa panicked and asked, âWhat did the doctor say?â
Wendy ignored her question and asked. âDid you have your period this month?â
Larissa thought about it and answered, âNot yet.â
Larissa had been occupied with work in the past few years, often working late into the night. Her irregular sleep schedule took a toll on her overall heath, occasionally delaying her menstrual cycle for up to two months.
Also, she had no intention of getting pregnant, and there werenât any major issues with her health during her annual medical checkups, so she never took it to heart.
âDonât tell me that the increased eating and sleeping are due to me being pregnant?â Larissa chuckled at her own speculation.
âDonât joke with me. I donât even have a sex ide. Can I get pregnant by myself? Larissa waved her hand dismissively, her tone resolute enough to momentarily cause Wendy to pause in doubt.
âThe doctor said you have a high chance of being pregnant. I still think itâs safer to go for an examination.â
Soon, the ultrasound result came out, and the doctor congratulated Larissa with a smile. âYouâre pregnant.â
Larissa was dumbfounded, as well as Wendy.
âDidnât you say you didnât have a sex life? Wendy asked.
âImpossible. I canât be pregnant.â Larissa denied it agitatedly.
âCould it be a mistake?â she asked the doctor The doctor was stunned and checked the ultrasound again before telling her, âNo. Youâre indeed pregnant.â
Larissa frove, and her mind went blank. She had lost all her ability to think. She couldnât wrap her head around what had gone wrong.
