Chapter 402
Sweet Subterfuge
Startled, Larissa almost dropped the shopping bag she was holding.
âWhy are you following us?â she demanded, her eyes wide. Larissa raised her voice intentionally to mask the guilt she felt with anger.
âHuh?â In response to her question, Dylan expressed an appropriate amount of astonishment.
Aggrieved, he explained himself, Iâm not following you. I have a friend who lives in this apartment complex, and Iâm going to his place for dinner.â
Larissa exposed his lie with a straight face âArenât you cooking steak for dinner tonight?â
Dylan shrugged and pulled out his hands from his pockets.
Showing her his empty palms, he continued, âCanât you see that I havenât bought anything?
Thereâs nothing to eat at home, so I have to have dinner at my friendâs place.â
Larissa certainly didnât believe him.
Aster in tow a She turned around with Aster in tow and tried to leave. âI just remembered that I forgot to buy something âPerfect timing.â Dylan grinned. âIâll go buy the ingredients I need for dinner.â
Exasperated, Larissa halted in her tracks and stood her ground. âThatâs enough. Iâm not going to buy anything, and I donât live in this apartment complex either.â
Staring into Dylanâs eyes, she demanded, âThereâs no need to continue pretending. Tell me honestly, why are you following us?â
âI have to escort you home safely,â Dylan replied earnestly.
âFine,â Larissa knew she couldnât shake him off, so she decided to let him tag along.
When they arrived at the apartmentâs main entrance, she said to Dylan, âThank you. You can go back now.â
âAlright.â Dylan nodded, but he didnât go home just yet. âYou two should head inside first.â
Waving at Aster, he said, âGoodbye!â
Aster responded innocently, âGoodbye, Uncle Dylan!â
Once Larissa and Aster disappeared behind the door, Dylan took out his phone and made a call.
Larissa is finally back, and she brought a child with her.â
Because of Dylanâs interference, Larissa wasnât able to buy most of the items on her shopping list, except for milk and oatmeal.
Naturally, she couldnât make a lavish meal for Aster as planned. She poured milk into the oatmeal and heated the bowl in a microwave for three minutes.
âThereâs only oatmeal for dinner,â she apologized to Aster, âI will bring you out to eat something delicious tomorrow.â
Aster scooped a spoonful of oatmeal and put it in his mouth, smiling sweetly at Larissa as he did 1. so. âThis is tasty enough!â
Larissaâs heart melted at his adorable response. She leaned forward and planted a kiss on his chubby cheeks âMommy loves you very much,â Larissa said affectionately.
Aster chimed in loudly, âI love you too, Mommy!â
Perhaps Larissa had endured the hardships of carrying Aster for ten months and went through.
the laborious process of birth; she didnât feel any aversion to Aster when he was finally born.
Day by day, as he grew in height and stature, Larissa realized that she couldnât live without him Thanks to Wendy, who had stopped her in time, Larissa was so grateful that she didnât insist on getting her own way. Otherwise, she wouldnât have experienced the happiness she enjoyed right now.
On her first day of work, Larissa was worried about leaving Aster alone at home, so she brought him to the hotel.
It was her first visit to the hotel. Upon arrival, she discovered that the hotel was adjacent to Microworks Corporationâs headquarters in Bartham.
âWhat a coincidence,â she thought to herself.
A group of people was waiting for her at the hotel entrance. As soon as Larissa got out of the car, they quickly flocked around her.
âHello, Ms. Seymour!â
âWelcome, Ms. Seymour!â
