Chapter 451
Sweet Subterfuge
Rubyâs vehement kicks to his body were still fresh in her mind. Larissa kissed Asterâs tears, asking him softly, âDoes it hurt bad?â
Aster shook his head minutely. She was not sure if he really was not in pain, or if he was only doing that to comfort her.
When they got to the first floor, Larissa raced out of the hotel as fast as she could and hailed a cab.
They went to the closest hospital which was the military hospital. Aster was heavily bruised from Rubyâs kicks, but the fortunate thing was that he did not suffer any grievous injuries.
The doctor asked Larissa. âHow did this happen? His stare was filled with condemnation and suspicion.
Larissa did not say much-for the truth was loc complicated to explain in just a couple of sentences.
When they left the doctor said pointedly, âChild abuse even if itâs your own biological child, is illegalâ
Larissa halted for a moment, but she still made no arguments to defend herself.
The image of Larissa rushing out of the hotel with Aster in her arms was instantly sent to Kevan, who immediately called. âWhat happened?
The bodyguards who were in charge of keeping an eye on Larissa could not enter the hotel, so they did not know what happened. They followed Larissaâs cap to the hospital paid a âmendlyâ visit to the doctor, who saw Aster, and received a âmother abusing her childâ
answer as a response.
They relayed this answer to Kevan word for word, but Kevan naturally did not believe that Larissa would abuse Aster. Those bruises on Aster were clearly caused by someone else.
This âsomeone elseâ was finally identified as Ruby alter the other team, who was in charge of keeping an eye on her, sent a message about how she had been taken to the police station.
Kevan lightened his grip on the phone even as his gaze turned icy. He found Dylan and said. âContact the police station and have them keep Ruby locked up for a few more days. No bal allowed.â
Dylan was very surprised, âHow many days has it been? Sheâs already back in there?â
Kevan grunted belore explaining everything brielly.
Dylanâs voice became colder too as he said. âIll have them take GOOD care of Ruby. Donât worry about that. I will be visiting Aster at night.
wanna come?â
The answer was a positive one, of course.
Kevan and Dylan got off work on time. After some discussion. they decided to go straight to Larissaâs place without calling her beforehand. Larissa could not possibly just lock them out when they were already there.
Once they got home, Aster fell asleep after having medication applied to his bruises. Having sullered intense trauma, he had essentially
tired himsel out from crying.
Larissa only contacted the hotelâs security department when she was free to inquire about Rubyâs situation. When she found out that Ruby had beer Laken to the police station, she was not releved at all. She proceeded to find a lawyer Iriend of hers to ask if she could sue Ruby in this situation and made sure she got a few years in jail.
The attemoon passed by quickly.
Larissa had been preparing dinner when the doorbell rang. She pretty much did not need to think to guess that the visitors were Dylan or Kevan, or both-they were the only ones who knew that she lived here.
She did not want to open the door, but the doorbel kept ringing, which gave her a headache. Having no other way to ignore that, Larissa put down the spatula and turned off the slove before slowly making her way over to the door.

The moment the door opened. Kevan apologized first. âIm so sorry! His attitude was sincere, and his voice was filled with pain,
Larissa stood there blankly, stunned.
Kevan licked his lips. âI received a call from the police station in the afternoon, asking me to bail Ruby out.â
