Chapter 467
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 467
The words Kevan said did not show much responsibility on his part. This made Larissa want to argue back, but she felt she had no right to do so. After all, Bethany wasnât her own daughter. So, why should she be concerned? She remained silent after thinking about it.
â¦
The car was parked downstairs.
As Aster was sleeping soundly, Larissa couldnât bear to wake him up. Instead, she asked Kevan in a hushed voice. âCan you help me open the door?â She was holding Aster and couldnât move her hands easily.
Without a second thought, Kevan unbuckled his seatbelt and got out of the car. He opened the door, leaned in hallway, and gently took Aster from her arms.
âHeâs quite heavy. Let me carry him,â he said.
She hurriedly got out of the car. âNo, itâs fine. I can handle him. You should go back and rest!â She chased after Kevan, wanting to take Aster back.
However, Kevan wouldnât let her. âItâs nothing.â He calmly stepped into the elevator, pressed the floor number for her apartment, and said.â Youâre Dylanâs friend, which means that youâre my friend too. As friends, you donât need to be so polite to me. Besides, I like Aster. Helping you out with such a small task is no big deal.â
Being called a âIriendâ left Larissa speechless. How could he be so familiar with her? Where did his aloofness go? She lound herself missing the cold and heartless Kevan of the past.
He took Aster to his bedroom and placed him on the bed.
She then asked him courteously, âCan I make you a cup of tea?
He readily agreed. âSure!â
She immediately regretted her question and wanted to kick herself for asking. Nevertheless, she managed to force a smile and said. âOkay, wait for me in the living room,â She then turned and left for the kitchen, with Kevan following her.
She heard his footsteps and was surprised, âWhatâs up?â
âI wanted to see what kind of tea you have,â he replied calmly. Actually, he just wanted to be closer to her.
âOh, alright.â She didnât suspect anything.
She took out all the tea leaves she had and placed them in front of him. âI have Jasmine, Earl Grey, and Silver Needle. These are all new tea leaves, perks of our hotel. So, the quality is definitely good.
You can choose whatever you want.â
Kevan wasnât particularly into tea; he loved coffee better and didnât know much about the different tea leaves. He picked one randomly and said, âThis one.â
She gave a nod. âOkay, wait for me outside. ll be ready soon.â
