Wendy fell silent for a moment before asking Larissa, “Do you remember Barbara’s prediction back then?”

Of course, Larissa remembered, even though six years had passed, and they had long moved away from the town without further contact

with Barbara

Her feelings toward Barbara had transformed from initial dislike and rejection to gratitude. If it were not for Barbara, she would have never been convinced to keep the child.

But she didn’t understand the purpose behind Wendy’s question. “Why are you bringing this up now?”

“Well Barbara said that you will reunite with your ex-lover,” Wendy said with a serious tone. She always believed in Barbara’s words. “So.

Kevan had lost his memory and had no connection to Larissa’s past. His words to Aster couldn’t be baseless-either he was interested in Larissa, or he genuinely liked Aster. Regardless, he would make a fitting “father figure” for Aster. More importantly, Aster also liked him lot.

Larissa appreciated Barbara, but it didn’t mean that she believed in all of Barbara’s nonsense.

“Barbara even said I would meet a long-lost relative or friend. What happened to that?”

During her years abroad, Wendy was her only friend, and Aster was her only family.

Wendy was at a loss for words for a moment but quickly found a reason to justify her words. “Maybe the timing wasn’t right. Anyways, it

eventually be proven.”

Larissa snorted. “Let’s wait for it then.”

“Hey!” Wendy grew frustrated. “Why are you so stubborn? I don’t believe Kevan is showing so much affection for Aster for no good reason! Don’t you like him too? He’s single now! How about seizing the opportunity?”

“When did I ever like him? Larissa’s voice grew louder as she became angry and embarrassed that her secret was being revealed. But she couldn’t recall ever admitting to Wendy that she liked Kevan. So, how did Wendy know?

“Well, Barbara said. You still love him,” Weny answered confidently.

Larissa would have smashed her phone if it weren’t for her concern over wasting money. “Can you stop bringing Barbara up every two

seconds?

“Alright, alright. I won’t mention her again. Let’s talk about Aster.” Wendy cleared her throat and looked directly at the camera. “There’s something I’ve been hesitant to tell you.”

Larissa’s eyelid twitched upon hearing that. She instinctively felt that Wendy wasn’t about to share anything good.

“Not long ago, Aster asked me who his biological father is.” Wendy’s expression carried a hint of worry.

“He’s growing up and starting to understand many things. So, naturally, he has a longing for his father.”

Larissa’s heart sank bit by bit. She knew Aster wanted a father, but she thought she could delay telling him the truth and deceive him. She didn’t expect him to secretly ask Wendy about it.

“Instead of having Aster troubled by the identity of his biological father, I think it’s better for you to find him a reliable stepfather. As you said, Kevan cares for Aster, and Aster likes him too. Not to mention you Wendy saw Larissa throw a warning lock at her, so Wendy stuck her tongue out in response. “Well anyway, Kevan is the best candidate.”

Kevan was the best candidate? Larissa couldn’t agree with that.

“The girl who used to bully Aster at school was actually Kevan and his dream girl’s daughter. After the incident where Aster got hurt, Kevan transferred his daughter to another school. His dream girl went crazy alter being unable to see her daughter, and she blamed everything on Aster. She even kidnapped him and hurt him.”

Larissa hadn’t told Wendy about this, fearing she would worry too much.

“So, yeah. No one knows what that woman would do if I ever got together with Kevan. Also, I’m afraid that his daughter would continue

bullying Aster.”

Larissa admitted that she still had some lingering feelings for Kevan just a little bit. But the thought of Ruby and Bethany made her give

up all her unrealistic fantasies.
