Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 507
Larissa asked Aster to call Kevan.
After a while, someone answered the phone.
âHello?â It was a little girl who answered the phone.
Who else could it be other than Bethany herself?
Asterheld the phone and stared at Larissa helplessly.
Frowning. Larissa ended the call for him.
âUncle Kevan canât come tonight because he needs to stay with Bethany.â
Aster was undoubtedly disappointed
Pouting, tears welled up in his eyes.
âUncle Kevan is a liar!â he said in an aggrieved tone.
Larissa patted his head and pulled him into her embrace.
*she said.
âUncle Kevanâs not a liar. Itâs just that something important came up at the last minute, he probably forgot to inform you, she defended Kevan.
Although she did not want Aster to have unrealistic fantasies about Kevan, at the same time she did not want to shatter Kevanâs perfect image in his heart.
After all Kevan was genuinely fond of Aster.
âIf you want to play games, Iâll accompany you.â Larissa made a huge compromise. hoping to cheer him up.
However, Aster showed no gratitude at all. âYouâre bad at playing games! Iâd rather play by myself.â he remarked scornfully.
Hearing that, Larissa felt like throwing the infuriating kid out of the house.
In the end. Aster could only play alone.
During the game, he sighed countless times. âIt would be much better if Uncle Kevan was here!â
Larissa was on the sola, working overtime on her laptop.
She did not pay Aster any mind as she was still upset at his words earlier.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang
Glancing at the time, Larissa realized that it was close to 9 pm.
She couldnât imagine who would come at this late hour.
Aster immediately threw his game controller down and scrambled to get up from the floor.
âIt must be Uncle Kevan! Aster shouted as he ran to the entrance as fast as he could,
Pressing up against the door, he asked, âWho is it?â
Kevanâs deep voice was heard on the other side of the door. âItâs me.â
A wide smile spread across Asterâs face and he quickly opened the door.
âUncle Kevan! He gave Kevan a bear hug seemingly forgetting that he had just called Kevan a liar earlier.
Kevan lifted him up and planted a kiss on his cheek.
âIâm sorry for being late. I had something to take care of this afternoon, and it look longer than expected,â Kevan apologized to him sincerely.
Holding on to Kevanâs neck, he gave him a kiss too. âBecause you finally camel
Touched. Kevan stared at Aster, his eyes filled with pride.
Larissa closed her laptop and stood up to welcome Kevan.
âYou could have just let me know if you had something on, you didnât have to come over,â she said.
âI made a promise to Aster, so I should keep it.â Kevan took off his hat and walked in, carrying Aster in his arms.
As he walked past Larissa, he handed her the gift. âMy mom asked me to pass this to you.â
Looking into the bag, Larissa accepted it gracefully. âPlease thank your mom for me.â she replied.
