Chapter 606
Sweet Subterfuge
Dylanâs phone call only came after Kevan had reached the bottom floor of the hotel. âIâm already out.â
Kevan waved off the lobby manager and walked straight out of the hotel before getting into his car.
âSo soon?â Dylan was a little surprised but figured it out after a momentâs thought. Those vampires tried to create trouble for you again?â
Although Kevan did not like those two families, he never started anything on his end. He only ever retaliated because the two Rogers branch families kept provoking him on purpose. Not warting to dwell on this subject further, Kevan asked Dylan, âHowâre things with you?â
Dylan glanced at the ward door that was firmly shul next door before lowering his voice. âSomething did happen.â
Kevanâs nerves were pulled taut at once as he slammed the gas pedal all the way down. The black Maserati shot out like an arrow loose from a bow as it raced away through the night.
It normally took 45 minutes to get to Victory General Hospital from Regal Dynasty by car. Kevan forcibly shortened halved that time. He raced all the way from the parking lot to the surgical building.
When the elevator reached the orthopedic department, he lock wide steps and rushed over to Larissaâs ward in the shortest time possible.
When he opened the door, he could hear laughter from within. Kevan subconsciously paused in his footsteps.
Dylan saw him first. âKevan!
Everyone else turned to the door. Kevan smiled and walked right in.
Larissa was very surprised to see him. âDidnât you go to altend your Uncle Bernardâs birthday?â
âI got into a bit of conflict with them, so I left first. Kevan did not avoid mentioning these things to her.
âHave you eaten, then? Do we need to order takeout for you?â
Larissaâs concern softened the frown on Kevanâs face as well as calming the agitation he felt. However, before he could speak, Gary cul him off. âHeâs an adult, he canât have not eaten when hungry.â
âDad-âLarissa was very resigned. âCanât you just be nicer to him?â
Gary just glared at Kevan before harrumphing coldy and looking away.
âUncle Garyâs right.â Kevan pulled a chair over to sit near the head of the bed, his smile growing. âIâm an adult, and I do indeed know that i should eat when Iâm hungry.â
Larissa saw Dylan opening and closing his mouth, and she was struck with an idea. Rubbing her stomach, she looked at Lewis and said.â Iâm hungry. Lewis. I want some pancakes.â
The Logans had always given Larissa whatever she wanted. The moment Larissa asked, Lewis Immediately picked up his phone. Gary threw out an idea too. âThe butter pancakes we had last time werenât bad.â
âOkay.â Lewâs prepared to order.
Larissa raised two fingers and said with an ingratiating smile, âLewis, I want two portions.â
Lewis was not dumb, and he knew exactly what she was after. He eyed Gary carefully out of the corner of his eye, and only when his uncle did not protest did he agree to Larissaâs request. âQuay.â
Now that the pleasantries had been observed, Kevan gol down to business. âWhat happened?â
Dylan did not give many details on the phone, only saying that he would talk about Il after Kevan got here.
Kevan thought that Larissaâs condition had worsened or something and he was very worried on the way here. But now that he saw her lying just fine on the bed, he was a little confused and curious,
