Chapter 613
Sweet Subterfuge
The housekeeper, who used to greet Lana with a fake smile and flattery, now had a stern expression.
He coldly informed her. âMr. and Mrs. Seymour Senior are not at home.â
Lana noticed the change in the housekeeperâs attitude, but she didnât think much of it. She merely assumed that he was slacking off because her grandparents were away. So, she treated him just as she always did-by giving him a bad attitude.
She impatiently pushed the housekeeper aside and snapped, âMove out of my way!
The housekeeper could no longer be bothered to hide his disdain for her. He steadied himself against the wall with one hand and sneered. âDo you think youâre still the Ms. Seymour of this house? Let me be frank with you. Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Senior are in the living room right now. When I said theyâre not at home, itâs because they donât want to see you!â
Lana was taken aback, âWhyâs that?â
Before the housekeeper could answer, the loud rewing sound of a sports car approached and eventually stopped in front of the Seymour mansion.
Ho nk! H onk!
The blaring horn made Lanaâs ears ache a bit.
Instantly, the housekeeperâs demeanor changed; he quickly nodded, explaining the situation through the car window to the person inside. âIâm sorry.
Ms. Moella. Iâm afraid I canât open the gate for you right now.â He glanced hesitantly at Lana and continued. âLana is here, and Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Senior donât want her inside. I can open the gate for you, but I bet Lana might try to follow you in.â
The person inside the sports car was Lanaâs aunt and Xavierâs sister, Migella Migella heard what the housekeeper said, and she turned off the engine and stepped out of the car. 1 Migella was approaching her sixties but still dressed as if she were in her thirties or forties. She had red curls, heavy makeup, a small blazer, wide-leg pants, and towering heels measuring over four inches.
Still, she appeared younger than Lana, who was actually in her late twenties.
âWell, well look whoâs here! Itâs our very own Ms. Seymour, who has graced us with her presence!â
Migella swayed her hips and confidently approached Lana. She was wearing heels. Therefore, she stood a few inches taller than Lana and exuded an even stronger presence.
Due to her parentsâ favoritism, Migella had always harbored great resentment toward Xavierâs family.
But because she relied on Xavier for financial support, she had to suppress her feelings and swallow her pride.
Now that Xavier had fallen from grace, she found great satisfaction in seeing Lana in a miserable state.
Lana didnât think highly of Migeila either, so she never bothered to engage with her aunt much whenever they met. But today was different.
âMigela Lana dropped her suitcase and hugged Migellaâs arm as she pleaded tearfully. âI have nowhere else to go. My dad had treated you well in the past, so in return, could you please take me in to see Grandpa and Grandma?â
Migella turrowed her brow in disgust and forcefully pulled Lana away.
âThis is all because of your jinx of a mother! When your grandparents see you, itâs like seeing her all over again. Do you really think they want to deal with that?â
âBut Iâm their granddaughter. I can even cut ties with my mother il they want me to! Lana grew anxious and tried to grab Migellaâs hand.
Miceita quickly evaded, keeping a safe distance between them.
âGive up! No matter what you do, they wonât want to see you.â Her eyes darted around as she noticed Lanaâs desperate and sorrowful expression, âBut if you truly have nowhere else to go, I can take you in.
But you must obey whatever I say.â
âOf course! I do whatever you say? Lana nudded desperately.
