Chapter 641
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 641
As soon as Dylan and Kevan took their seals, one of the groomâs relatives approached them. He offered them cigarettes, trying to get on their good side.
âItâs such an honor to meet you, Mr. Rogers. Mr. Shields,â he said in a flattering way.
Kevan remained aloel and motionless, leaving the personâs hand hanging awkwardly.
The atmosphere became somewhat uncomfortable.
Dylan quickly but politely declined the offer.
âSorry, we donât smoke.â
Unlike Kevarâs distant demeanor, Dylan continued to smile. This made him the primary focus of the conversation.
The man was quite chatty and skilled at flattery.
Dylan struggled to hold back his urge to send him away. Finally, he managed to find a tactful excuse to dismiss him.
As he tumed back, he caught Kevanâs smug smle. His anger surged
âItâs all your laut. How can you still laugh about it?â he retorted.
âWhatâs there to feel bad about?â Kevan replied, nonchalantly crossing his arms.
âHe approached us because of you. And what did you do? You left him hanging and put him on me Dylan was fuming.
Despite being one of the co-founders of Microworks Corporation, he wasnât nearly as well-known as Kevan. People would always try to Hatter Kevan, while he was just an afterthought.
âI didnât put him on you, I simply ignored him,â Kevan corrected him.
While others might think highly of Kevan as a gentleman, Dylan knew it was just alacade he put on when dealing with people he found
advantageous.
In recent years. Terqua Corporation had faced bankruptcy rumors due to poor management Consequently, the Hermes family was no longer of any use to Kevan.
Dylan couldnât argue with Kevanâs assessment. He clenched his teeth and shot a frustrated glare al Kevan.
âThereâs one thing that I find puzzling.â Kevar said, âHow can you be so polite to a stranger, yet you canât seem to be nicer to Sharon?â
Kevan had witnessed the tense exchange between Dylan and Sharon in the ballroom earlier. He noticed the sadness in her eyes after Dylanâs hurtful words and his dejected expression after she lett
âWhen you asked her to rest. i wasnât about opposing her, am I right? You just didnât want her to slip again on the wet floor wearing those high heels. So, why not just tell her that honestly?â
Dylan was caught off guard by Kevanâs shrewdness. He fell a moment of panic. âWhat are you talking about?â he instinctively denied, only
to lower his head when he met Keyanâs knowing gare.
After a brief pause, he sarcastically remarked, âAnd what about you? You used in act the same way.
Arenât we both gully of that?â
Both of them hid their true emotions when facing the person they liked, just like hedgehogs protecting themselves with sharp spines to avoid gelling hurt.
Kevan was taken aback and awkwardly tried to defend himself, âWell, itâs because my uncles were still aroundâ¦â
âOh, come on!â Others might not understand Kevan, but Dylan surely did! âYou were just alrad of being relected by Larissa and embarrassing yourself Dylan said. He gave Kevan a piercing look, exposing his true feelings.
However, Kevan suddenly became serious and said, âItâs not that.â He paused for a moment and continued, âIâm not afraid of being
embarrassed.â
He was scared that Il Larissa knew about his feeings, she would be frightened and never give him another chance.
