Chapter 732
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 732
âI unatic?â Larissa Instinctively leaned towards Aster and shielded him with her arm. She looked around. âWhere?â
Wendy scanned the surroundings. The tables surrounding them were all filled with Aldoylans.
The l unatic she encountered at the restroom was nowhere to be found.
âThatâs strange Frowning. Wendy muttered.
Although their conversation wasnât solt, it wasnât that loud either. The person who overheard them should be seated close by. He should be within their range of sight
âMaybe he hasnât returned yet, Wendy guessed.
Larissa was shaker by Wendyâs words. She was learful of madmen, given the rising rate of shootings.
They had to be cautious everywhere they went.
Worried about any potential mishaps, she told Aster in a low voice, âEat faster, we are heading home soon.â
Wendy was also feeling anxious. She kept a watchful eye on their surroundings. Luckily, the l unatic didnât appear until they paid the bill and lett.
No one knew whether he had left or was still lurking somewhere.
With this incident, Wendy and Larissa lost their desire to stroll outside. Wendy went home to work overtime, while Larissa reviewed her materials on Blue Star Shipping. Aster played on his own. He had only unboxed a few of the toys that Gary bought for him,
The attemoon passed. Belore dinner, Larissa finaly received a WhatsApp message from Kevan.
âI was busy earlier and only saw your message just now I was involved in the Winston incident, but the fire safety wasnât acceptable, to begin with. The decision to close down the hotel was made by the authorities.â
He sent Larissa a Irk to another news report regarding the Winston Hotelâs closure.
It was more detaled than the one she read before.
There was photographic evidence of the hotelâs inadequate fire safety measures.
During her tenure, all those measures were up to par. She finally understood why her assistant sounded so bitter toward Bryan,
Because of his selfishness, he ruined the hotel and caused hundreds of people to lose their jobs.
Larissa felt a heavy sense of guilt for not being more vigilant.
If she had detected Bryanâs ulterior motives, she could have lived him earlier. Things might not have escalated to this point.
âI found some evidence about the connection between Bryan and Cody. Iâm currently investigating, so you donât need to worry.â Kevan reassured Larissa.
Larissa stared at his message for a while. She muled over what to reply, typing and deleting her message several times. Finally, she sent Okay.â
Her phone was silent for ten minutes. Then, Kevanâs message popped up again. âAre you available to take a call?â
A nervous shiver ran down Larissaâs spine.
âYes, Iâm availableâ she said. Kevanâs call came in immediately. Taking a deep breath, Larissa answered the call âHello?â
It was quiet al the other end of the call Kevan was likely in a private space. His deep voice resonated through the phone. âWhen do you plan on teling Aster that Iâm his father?â
Larissa hadnât expected him to bring this up right away. Her hand trembled, and the phone almost dropped to the ground.
