Chapter 733
Sweet Subterfuge
âHasnât he been calling you Daddy all this while?â Larissa pretended to not understand Kevan Still Kevan persisted. âYou know what I mean.â
Larissa bit her lip and fell silent.
Kevan continued stemly, âYou should know how much Aster craves a fatherâs love. Larissa, our issues should not involve Aster. He has the right to have both a father and a mother.â
Larissa understood everything Kevan said, but â
âHow are you going to explain to him your years of absence in his be? How are you going to tell him about our past? Right, and that daughter of yours. Aster doesnât like her, and vice versa. How are you going to handle the relationship between them going forward?â
Larissaâs questions were like landmines that stood between Kevan and Aster.
Kevan paused for a moment and said hesitantly. âI have a perfect solution to all of this Larissaâs curiosity was piqued. âWhat solution?â
âLetâs get married.â
âHey! Hey!â Wendy stretched out her hand and waved it in front of Larissa SL Larissa remained motionless.
âOh my god! Alastair, your mom seems to have stopped working Wendy exclaimed as she hugged Aster tightly.
Aster believed Wendyâs theatrics as he watched Larissa in a daze. Aster shook Larissaâs shoulders. He was close to tears. âMommy!
Mommy!
Larissa regained her senses. Noticing their puzzled expressions, she asked. âWhatâs wrong with you guys?â
âWe should ask you that question!â Wendy peeked at the materials in front of Larissa, hoping to get some clues. âWhat are you reading? You have been staring blankly at it for such a long time! Iâve tried calling you but you didnât respond!â
âOh, itâs nothing.â Larissa closed the file before her and thought of an excuse. âI couldnât understand some parts, so I spent some time mulling over it.â
She held Aster in her arms and stood up. âIm feeling hungry. What should we have for dinner?â
They had takeout for dinner, Larissa seemed preoccupied throughout dinner. While she cleared the table, her hand slipped and the food remnants spilled on her clothes.
Wendy quickly took over the chores and pushed Larissa Into her bedroom. âTake a shower and rest early. You need to have a good nightâs sleep to dazzle everyone at the banquet tomorrow!â
After taking a shower, Larissa lay down on the bed, but she couldnât sleep.
She kept thinking of what Kevan had said, âIâll give you a week to think about it. Regardless of whether you agree to marry me or not, I will bell Aster that I am his father.â
Larissa knew that Kevan was forcing her to make a decision.
It might seem as if he was allowing her to make a choice, but Kevan knew that she would choose the option that he wanted.
Their marriage would legalize Kevanâs and Asterâs relationship. The problems that she mentioned would be solved, at least in the short term Il Kevan were to announce that he was Asterâs biological father, there would be more problems. She didnât want to let Aster know about her past with Kevan Still she also didnât want to spin lies and push all of the blame on Kevan.
After much reflection, she had to come up with an answer that satisfied Aster and herself. It was the hardest thing she had ever done.
âLife is so hard.â Staring Into the darkness. Larissa sighed.
