Chapter 748
Sweet Subterfuge
Lewisâ voice was very loud. Even if Larissa did not put her phone on speaker, Kevan could hear every single word Lewis said.
âWhat do you mean? Larissa did not understand. âDidnât you tell him to take me home?â
She looked at Kevan in the driverâs seat in confusion.
Kevanâs face remained unchanged, but he pressed down harder on the gas pedal.
Lewis suddenly was not angry anymore. His voice was much calmer than before. âI did tell him to bring you home.â
Larissa was confused, âWhatâs going on?â
âI did tell Mr. Rogers to bring you home,â Lewis said. âUncle Gary was next to me earlier. I was afraid that he might kill me, so I had to act a bit.â
Larissa did not know why Lewis did not tell her before letting Kevan take her away. Still she was reassured after she got confirmation from Lewis. At least, this was not some kidnappingâ scheme that Kevan planned.

His muted phone indeed had a lot of messages. Some were from Dylan, and there was one from Lewis. Dylan was asking him where he had gone off to, and he was also complaining about the trouble with Cody. As for Lewisâthere was only a smiling emoji from him.
Kevan was aware of what the emoji meant.
Kevan texted back a âthank you.â
Thank you to Lewis for covering for him, thus preventing a huge light between him and Larissa, âexplain to Mr. Logan next time.â
Lewis ignored him.
Kevan drove steadily, so Larissa did not feel any bumps at all while she was sleeping and until she woke up. Kevan still carried her upstairs. Even if she refused him, he refused her too.
Unable to fight him, Larissa could only concede. She did not want to fight with him in public.
Wendy and Aster were not asleep. They were watching a cartoon with the lights of
