Chapter 800
Sweet Subterfuge
It was not strange to have a meal with a friend of the opposite gender, but Lewisâ description of Wendyâs reaction made Larissa suspicious.
Panicked, uncomfortable. Wendy even deliberately avoided Larissa.
No matter how it looked. Wendy did not seem to be just friends with that guy she was with.
Larissa quickly texted Wendy via WhatsApp. âYou got a situation going on?â She watched the words âbro name for a few minutes before it disappeared. No new message appeared in the chat.
appear under Wendyâs Well it seemed that Wendy had decided to ignore her.
Larissa calculated the time. Wendy must still be eating now, or she was having fun with her âboyfriend.â
Larissa held back from video-
calling Wendy. She didnât want to disturb them. She closed WhatsApp, Seeing Larissa throw her phone back into her bag as well as hearing the happy snort she let out, Lewis looked at her and asked. âYouâre happy?â
*Not bad. I guess.â Larissa said lightly. There was a hint of a smile on her face.
She never expected that this day would come. When she was pregnant with Aster, Wendy told her that she was the kind of woman who would never marry.
Having been âroommates with Wendy for so long, Larissa had truly not seen any man appear around her friend in a close way before.
But Wendy was definitely a romantic, Larissa could tell from all the romantic teen dramas that Wendy liked to watch during her free time. It was just that Wendyâs love life was rather hard.
She either didnât like the men she managed to connect with, or their perspectives didnât align. As a result, longâterm relationships eluded them. Consequently, Wendy remained single to avoid âjinxingâ
potential partners.
How nice it was for Wendy to have something romantic coming her way now.
Larissa really wanted to see who that man was since he could âdefealâ the âdemonicâ Wendy.
Larissa was still selfâquarantining at home as her cold was not gone.
Kevan and Aster were playing with building blocks in the living room, Larissa returned to her room after she finished showering.
In the middle of everything, Kevan brought her medication with a glass of warm water. He also took her temperature again, âNo matter what time you go out tomorrow, you will wait for me to send you to work,â he ordered her coldly. âIf you donât eat breakfast, i wonât let you go to work. Thereâs no use even if you look for Mr.
Logan.â
Larissa knew he would do as promised, so she quietly said, âOkay.â
Only then did Kevanâs lace soften. He ruffled her hair and said softly, âSleep early. I put Aster to bed.â
Larissa frowned when she heard that. âDonât spoil him.â
As she and Wendy were busy, Aster became independent pretty early on. He did not need people to put him to bed when he started kindergarten, But since Kevan had been here, this brat had become more fragile. He even gained bad habits that Larissa hersell could not stand.
âIâm just doing my best to make up for the years that I wasnât there for him.â Kevan said with some annoyance and sadness. âBesides, I like the way he depends on me. It gives me a sense of being a father.â
Kevan smiled a little before comforting Larissa. âDonât worry. Aster was taught well by you. He wonât become a bad boy just because! spoil him once in a while.â
Larissa was struck speechless by him, âFine.â She decided to let go.
