Chapter 816
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissaâs unexpected actions caught Kevan off guard, After a pause, he smiled and said. âSure.â
âI want to go too!â Aster exclaimed and jumped off the sola, rushing toward Kevan.
Wendy acted swiftly and caught Aster by the waist. She held him in her arms lightly. âWhy are you going out so late at night? Itâs cold outside. You might catch a cold!â
Aster struggled to escape, but Wendy glared at him and threatened in a low tone. âIf you struggle any longer, I will not take you to McRonaldâs behind your motherâs back again!â
Aster settled down immediately.
Wendy shot a simile at Larissa and Kevan. âI will take care of Aster, Donât worry, Larissa, take your time in sending Mr. Rogers off. If you donât want to come back home, itâs fine too.â
Larissa shot her a glare, signaling for her to shut up. She grabbed Kevanâs hand and said, âLetâs go.â
Larissaâs apartment faced the street, with the main road just outside. Kevanâs car was parked by the roadside, less than six feet from the apartment entrance. It took less than a minute to get to his car.
When Kevan unlocked his car. Larissaâs heart sank, Grabbing his wrist instinctively, she said. âLet me walk you home.â She lowered her head, and her voice was muttled by a thick wool scarf that covered hall of her lace Kevan raised his eyebrows. âOn foot?â Larissa nodded. âYeah!â
âItâs too cold. Iâm not dressed warmly.â Kevan seemed unwilling.
He only wore a thin shirt under his coat. His neck was exposed to the wind. Staring at his Adamâs apple, Larissa had a distressed look on her lace.
Kevan chuckled and rested his hand on Larissaâs. His eyes were tender as he said, âGet in the car. Iâll take you for a ride.â
Westonia was a city that never slept. At 8:00 pm, the city was at its liveliest. The neon lights decorating the streets shone down on the fashionable young people roaming around in groups.
Kevan drove at a slow pace. In less than five minutes, several cars behind them honked impatiently.
However, Kevan ignored them. The heating in the car was working well.
Larissa soon broke into a sweat. Taking off her scarf and down jacket, she held them lightly in her arms.
Kevan took a tissue to wipe the sweat off her forehead. Larissa was deep in thought at that moment.
When his fingers touched her skin.
she jumped in surprise.
Noticing his intention, Larissa took the tissue from him and rubbed it on her face haphazardly.
Kevan chuckled at how fustered she was. âIs there something you want to tell me? Feel free to say â
He had always been patient with her, if she were unwilling to speak, he would drive around all night for her. However, she seemed so anxious that he fell sorry for her, In the end, Kevan decided to make it quick.
âHow did you know? Am I that obvious? Larissa tumed to him in surprise and patted her cheeks in frustration âYes.â Kevan nodded solemnly.
Normally, he couldnât grasp her thoughts. However, Larissa was surprisingly easy to read when she was in a dilemma.
Larissa lowered her head once again.
