Chapter 821
Sweet Subterfuge
Thinking of that Larissa felt a little regretful for what she did. She was impulsive in setting them up. So, she didnât consider whether it was the right time to do it.
âTo express my apology, how about I invite you to my place for dinner tonight? We will be having stew.â
The mark on Marilynâs cheek had faded without a trace because of the ointment she got from the infirmary. It was Larissaâs chance to tum the situation around.
âStew?â Marilyn had not tried Larissaâs cooking before. Recalling her previous experience with Caldorian cuisine, she felt apprehensive. âIs it spicy?
âThere are spicy and nonâspicy options. You can go for the nonâspicy one,â Larissa replied.
Marilyn agreed immediately. âOkay, Iâll be there.â
Since she had a ride, Larissa asked Kevan to not pick her up. She did not mention to Marilyn that Lewis would also be coming. After work, Larissa walked with Marilyn, leaving Lewis behind.
Both cars met up in front of Larissaâs apartment building. As Larissa and Marilyn got off, a white BMW pulled into a parking spot in front of them Marilyn had ridden in Lewisâ car yesterday, so she recognized his license plate immediately.
âIsnât that.â Marilyn widened her eyes in surprise as Lewis got out and closed his car door. âMr. Logan Junior,â she finished her sentence in a whisper.
Seemingly uncomfortable, she hid behind Larissa and lowered her head to avoid eye contact with Lewis.
Lewis locked his car. When he turned around, he noticed the two of them by the roadside. When his gaze fell on Marilyn, he was stunned but soon recovered.
âWhy didnât you go up?â he asked Larissa, who replied. âItâs because we ran into you here!â
Larissa dragged Marilynâs arm and pushed her forward. She put on an embarrassed chuckle and said, âI forgot to mention, I invited Mr. Logan Junior as well. I hope you donât mind?â
Marilyn laughed dryly. âOf course not.â The three of them went upstairs together.
The door was opened by Aster. âMom- He was initially overjoyed when he saw Larissa, but he quickly realized there were two other people behind her. One was his uncle, the other was an Aldovian woman he didnât recognize.
Long ago, Larissa and Wendy had taught him to not reveal his relationship to Larissa in front of strangers.
Asterâs mind raced as he did some quick thinking. Since he shouldnât refer to Larissa as his mommy, then he should not mention that Lewis was his uncle either..
Thus, he greeted Larissa and Lewis formally. âLarissa, Lewis, nice to meet your Both of them were stunned at his words.
Aster grabbed Larissaâs hand and pointed to Marilyn, âLarissa, who is this? Sheâs so pretty!â His sweet words were quite effective with Marilyn.
Blushing, she bent down and introduced herself, âIâm Larissaâs colleague, so you can call me Marilyn as well.â
âMarilyn, welcome to my home.â Aster stretched out his hand and Marilyn shook II, saying. âThank yourâ
Larissa retrieved a pair of home slippers for Lewis and disposable ones for Marilyn.
Lewis and Gary had each bought a pair of home slippers at the department store. Normally, they did not prepare slippers for guests bul made do with disposable ones.
After all, Larissa and Wendy had been working in hotels for many years. No one would say anything if they look one or two disposable products back home.
Besides, disposable slippers were clean and convenient. Guests could just throw them away and there was no need to wash or disinfect â
Also, the next guest wouldnât feel disgusted by wearing slippers wom by other people.
Naturally, Lewis put on his house slippers which were made of cotton. On the other hand, Marilyn stared at the disposable slippers in front of her. Her smile faded slightly.
