Chapter 901
Sweet Subterfuge
As it turned out, âmothers know bestâ was a truth that would never change.
Larissa stared at all the scribbles that were drawn as she asked Gary. âThis is what you call very talentedâ?â
Gary was shockingly still able to praise every little part of Asterâs drawing. âLook at this curve here, how perfect! And this little thin line here, and this oneâ
âSure, then.â Larissa crossed her arms as she asked Gary. âThen can you tell me what the hell he just drew?â
This definitely made Gary feel lost. He tipped his head to the side as he brought the papers closer and further away from him. He was staring holes into the papers, and yet he still could not tell what was drawn on them.
Finally, he tried to guess. âIs that a very tall chicken?â
âNoooo! Thatâs not itâ Aster snatched away his âmasterpieceâ from Gary with annoyance. âThis is Keâ
vanâRoâgers! Itâs my daddy!â
Garyâs expression changed at once, and he did not speak for a long while.
Larissa watched her fatherâs speechless face with amusement, and she added salt to his wounds. âSo?
Is your grandson still talented now? Is he still a master artist?â
Gary tumed to glare at Larissa.
Aster carefully folded the two papers with the drawing of Kevan on it like he was holding some precious treasure. âI want to bring this back. âHe proudly lifted his chin and announced loudly, âI will give it to Daddy as his present!â
Garyâs lace was darker than ever. Although he did not like Kevan, he never dared to say anything bad about Kevan in front of Aster. He was scared that Aster would be unhappy and hate him.
Feeling bad for her lather, Larissa quickly pulled Aster and asked him, âWhat about Grandpaâs present?
Grandpa is so good to you. He bought you so much good lood and taught you how to draw, shouldnât you thank Grandpa?
âGrandpaâs present is right here!â Aster took out a paper from the remaining stack. âHere. A drawing of Grandpa with his name, GaâryâLo-
gan.â
Larissa covered her face. If Aster had not said it, no one would have guessed those words were Garyâs name.
But Gary was suddenly happier than before and all the darkness on his face was gone. He kept holding that paper and looked at it like he was totally happy with this gift.
âIâm going to frame this and hang it up in the living room! I will make sure that all guests who come to our house will see it!â
Larissa advised him. âThat wonât be necessary-
It would only errbarrass Gary.
âGrandpa, Grandpa Aster immediately tugged on Garyâs sleeve and gave him the folded papers with the drawing of Kevan. âCan you frame this too?â
His big eyes sparkled.
Gary gritted his teeth as he said kindly, âOf course! When Iâve framed it, Iâll bring it over to your mommy.â
âYay!â Aster happily hugged Garyâs neck and kissed hirm on the cheek. âGrandpaâs the best! I love Grandpa the most!â
Gary asked him quickly, âDo you love Grandpa or do you love Daddy?â
Aster did not hesitate. âOf course, I love Grandpa!â
This made Gary smile happily. âGood! Good!â He rubbed Asterâs head. âI will give you whatever you want next time!â
