Chapter 902
Sweet Subterfuge
Gary kept Larissa for dinner before letting her and Aster go home. Aster was already tired when he got into the car, so he slept for the rest of the journey home.
When Larissa got to their apartment building, she called Kevan and said, âYour sonâs fallen asleep, come get him upstairs.â
Kevan simply picked Aster up without any problems. Although Larissa already knew about the difference in strength between men and women, she was still shocked at Kevanâs display of strength.
âThis brat has gotten lat at my dadâs place. I get super tired after holding him for a while. If you werenât here today, Iâd have no idea how to get him upstairs.â
Kevanâs footsteps were steady and calm. His strong arms did not even tremble. Smiling, Kevan said, âNext time, just let me do this kind of hard work.â
âSure!â Larissa agreed happily. After they entered the elevator, she asked. âHas Wendy gone to sleep?â
âNo idea. She ate dinner and went back to her room. She never came out after that.â
âOh. How is she today? Okay?â
âHer mental state is not bad, and itâs better than yesterday.â
âAnd the hired help? Did she come today? Can she be trusted?â
âShe came. But youâd have to ask Wendy if the help can be trusted. I didnât interact with her.â
âOkay.â Larissa nodded.
Kevan waited for a long while but never got anything else. He raised an eyebrow and said. âThatâs it?â
Larissa was confused. âHuh? What do you mean?â
Kevanâs face went dark at once as he complained. âYou asked about Wendy and the hired help. What about me? You donât want to know what I did at home? Or if Iâm doing okay?â
Larissa truly did not think about him. She never really cared about her loved onesâ days.
It was just that Wendy had gone through a lot recently. But since Kevan already brought it up, she naturally would not disappoint him.
âSo, what did you do at home today?â
âI went to the supermarket to buy groceries and made three meals for Wendy. I also dealt with some of my work, and Kevan purposely paused, his eyes bright like stars. âI missed you.â
Larissaâs heart stuttered, and she blushed heavily.
The elevator arrived at their destination at this moment and the doors opened.
The cool air rushed in and calmed Larissa down. But it also ruined the loveyâdovey atmosphere that was originally there.
âWeâre here.â Larissaâs voice was dry. She coughed twice lightly and then walked out, leaving Kevan with Aster behind her.
Kevan naturally could tell that she was shy. He let out a snort of laughter as he quickly followed after her.
The brightness of the apartment was very eyeâpiercing. Aster fell uncomfortable and opened his eyes unhappily.
His fat face was all crumpled up as he was about to start complaining to Larissa. Then, he saw Kevanâs face.
The moment Aster saw Kevanâs face, he sat up immediately and hugged Kevanâs neck. He happily called, âDaddy! Youâre back!â
