Chapter 928
Sweet Subterfuge
Both Anthony and Violet were utterly charmed by Aster.
Anthony couldnât wait to take Aster from Violet.
He bounced Aster around happily, saying, âWhat a good boy!
The scene of the grandparents and grandson enjoying themselves together was heartwarming.
But Dylanâs focus wasnât on that He asked, âViolet, whereâs Kevan?â
She gestured upstairs and replied. âHe said his clothes got dirty, so he went upstairs to take a shower and change. You know his cleanliness habits.â
Kevanâs penchant for cleanliness was no secret in the family.
âOh.â Dylan didnât inquire further.
âAster, would you like some snacks? I made cinnamon rolls and cream puffs. Even your mom says theyâre delicious!â She held Asterâs hands, trying to win him over.
âAlter snacks, how about going for a stroll in the yard with me? IL show you the crickets Iâm raising. Itâs a lot of fun Anthony chimed in, also vying for Asterâs attention Dylan sat on the couch.
He felt somewhat out of place amidst the current atmosphere.
However, he couldnât help but feel moved by the fact that Kevanâs parents treated Aster like a cherished grandson; they still were unaware of Aster being Kevanâs biological son.
Anthony never seemed this welcoming back when facing Bethany.
âDylan, you just sit here for a while, okay? Violet led Aster toward the dining room.
Anthony lallowed.
Dylan wasnât exactly an outsider in the Rogers family. So, he felt more at ease sitting alone than with them.
He browsed his emails on his phone and wailed.
After nearly hall an hour, Kevan finally came downstairs.
As mentioned by Violet, Kevan had taken a shower.
His hair wasnât completely dry, and it clung together in strands.
He had changed out of his crisp shirt and suit into looseâfitting sweatpants and a sweatshirt.
On his feet were plain cotton slippers, giving him a rather relaxed and homey appearance.
With one hand in his pocket, Kevan strolled casualy over to Dylan and asked, âWhere are my parents and Aster?â
âIn the dining room.â Dylan replied, glancing in that direction. âTheyâre enjoying Violetâs cinnamon rolls and cream putts.â
Kevan had come downstairs later and missed the initial meeting between his parents and Aster.
âAre my parents treating Aster well?â Kevan asked, âVery. You missed out on how your dad reacted just now. It was eyeâopening.â Dylan emphasized the word âveryâ.
âMy dad?â
Kevan was quite surprised. He had expected his mom to be kind to Aster.
But he hadnât anticipated the same from his dad; his dad had always been reserved.
âNow, youâre just a step away from marrying Larissa Into the family. Has she sollened up? Dylan leased hallâjokingly.
situation at Soaring Corporation, weâll start planning the wedding.â
âThatâs pretty soon, isnât it? Dylan was well aware of Soaring Corporationâs current predicament.
âI heard they recently laid off a significant number of employees.
âMany major shareholders are looking to sell their shares but canât find buyers.
âHow about seiring the opportunity, buying in at a low price, and eventually booting Cody out of Soaring Corporation once our shareholding surpasses his?
âDo you have that much money to burn? Kevan coolly glanced at him. âIf youâve got that kind of cash, why not invest it elsewhere?â
Dylan frowned. âCome on, you Soaring Corporation is still a part of the Rogers familyâs legacy, isnât it? Donât you care at all? Arenât you afraid that Old Mr. Rogers might be watching from the great beyond?â
Kevan sneered and said, âSoaring Corporationâs current state is precisely the result of him watching from the great beyond.â
So, naturally, he had to add more fuel to the fire and fulfill his grandfatherâs wishes.
âThe prosecutorâs investigation into Soaring Corporationâs internal corporate crimes is nearly complete.
When the time comes, none of those people will escape,â Kevan stated confidently.
âIâve also handed over evidence of Cody hiring someone to kill me and smuggling drugs from Aldovia to the police.
âWhen you add up all these charges, he wonât be seeing the outside of a prison for the rest of his life.â
He had let Cody go on for so long.
Not just to subject him to immense pressure and gradually break him mentally.
But most importantly, to bring final closure.
He wanted to prevent any chance of Cody coming out of prison several years later and affecting their lives.
