Chapter 953
Sweet Subterfuge
âWhat else can you do other than pour coffee for Mr. Logan Senior? Larissa asked her.
Marilynâs work was related to Gary onlyâshe was in charge of some of his personal matters during working hours and arranging his schedule for the day.
Before Blue Star Shipping had all these issues, Garyâs routine was regular. He would get off work on time every day.
The companyâs partners knew about this, so they would not make any calls after working hours, Therefore, to Larissa, Marilyn had no reason to work overtime.
âHey!â Marilyn glared as she grumbled, âI can do more than that, you know! Donât look down on me! I can totally justâShe grinned styly.â Pour more coffee for Mr. Logan Senior.â
They worked overtime until 9:00 pm. Larissa concentrated on her own work and did not pay attention to what Marilyn was doing. She vaguely remembered Marilyn getting up a few times to bring coffee to Garyâs office.
Finally, Gary was off work. He stopped in front of Marilyn and said to her. âYou donât need to work overtime anymore in the future. I want coffee, I will get it mysel Marilyn looked awkward as she quickly said, âOkay.â
After Gary left Marilyn went over to Larissa again and asked. âMr. Logan Seniorâs already gone. Youâre still not going to get off work?â
Larissa glanced at Lewisâ office, which was still bright âLook, my boss isnât gone yet! I gotta perform well too and make sure he fires me last.
Marilyn went back to her seat again, âIl accompany you then!â
âNo need.â Larissa rejected her good intentions. âItâs late; youâre a girl. Itâs not safe for you to go home.â
âArenât you a girl as well? Marilyn retorted.
âBut Iâve got someone picking me up!â Larissa could not say that Lewis was sending her home.
Thinking that Marilyn had seen Kevan come pick her up a few times, Larissa just randomly made up an excuse like this.
Marilyn thought about it. âAlright then.â She had just stood up when Lewis office lights turned off. Less than two minutes later, Lewis came out âWhy are you both here?â He was surprised.
Tm waiting to leave with Larissa.â Marilyn reached up to throw her hair back. She looked embarrassed.
âYou donât have to wait next time,â Lewis walked past her to stand in front of Larissa âI will send her home.â
Marilyn looked like she had heard some incredibly shocking news. She looked up in shock and looked at Lewis and Larissa who were now together due to Lewisâ position.
Having her lie exposed just like that, Larissa angrily pinched Lewis from behind, which only made him look at her in confusion.
âThank you for your concern and care, Mr. Logan Junior,â Larissa forced out a smile of gratitude. âBut that wonât be necessary. My driver will come pick me up.â
To prevent Lewis from saying anything that would make her look bad, Larissa pinched Lewis harder as she used her eyes to tell Lewis to shut up.
Lewis cooperated with her and nodded. He did his best to maintain a calm expression on his face.
âAlright then.â
Only then did Larissa let go.
âOh, yeah,â Lewis seemed to have just remembered, âThereâs a document that I canât find anymore. Try searching for it on your laptop and send it to me now.â After that, he turned to Marilyn again. âYou can leave first. We might be a little slow.â
âWhat document are you trying to find?â Larissa sat down again as she put her hand on her mouse.
âI lied to her.â Lewis gave her a lock of pure scorn and disdain. It was very obvious that he was sneering at her for not being able to tell that he had just told a shitty lie.
âTurn off your laptop. Iâll send you home.â
