Chapter 971
Sweet Subterfuge
âCh. itâs no hassle at all!â Wendy waved her hands around. âItâs the least I could do.â
Marilyn didnât know that Larissa had moved. Thus, Larissa had to go to her old apartment to wait for her before she came.
So as to not arouse Marilynâs suspicions, Lewis drove Wendyâs car. He waited in a corner.
When Marilyn arrived, she called Larissa.
Larissa waited around on the first floor. She acted as if sheâd just walked out. She ran toward Marilyn hurriedly.
Once Larissa was buckled up, Marilyn handed her a McRonaldâs bag. âItâs still so early. You havenât had breaklast yet, have you? I passed a McRonaldâs and got you something.â
Larissa did not take it.
âThanks, but I ate at home.â
Larissa didnât dare to eat something so random.
âWhat?â Marilyn was stunned. She urged. âWhy donât you eat a little? Itâs still warm. What about some coffee?â
âItâs okay.â Larissa was determined. âI had a big breakfast. Iâm pretty full âFine.â Marilyn put the things into the backseat reluctantly.
She started the car and asked Larissa, âDo you know how to get there?â
Larissa shook her head and took her phone out. âWe could use the GPS.â
âIâm pretty bad with directions.â Marilyn was laying the groundwork âDonât blame me if I go the wrong way.
alright?
Larissaâs heart thumped on her chest. Something wasnât night.
It felt like Marilyn was prepared to go the wrong way.
As expected, Marilyn soon turned in the opposite direction.
âCh! I took the wrong way! Marilyn exclaimed. She began fumbling around.
Larissa knew that Lewis was right behind them. So, she wasnât anxious.
The navigation app quickly showed them a new route.
Larissa pointed out the road for Marilyn. âJust make a Uâturn up front.â
However, Marilyn missed the turn.
Larissa grew solemn. She no longer wanted to play this game.
âWhat are you doing?â
Now, Marilyn panicked for real âNothing!â She forced out a smile. âDidnât I tell you I was bad with directions?â
âThen stop the car. Larissa tumed off the app and prepared to dial a number. âOtherwise Iâm calling the cops.â
The smile on Marilynâs face vanished.
âWhat are you doing, Larissa? An icy light flashed across her eyes.
At once, she dug out a pistol from under her seat and pointed it at Larissa. Coldly, she instructed, âPut the phone away.â
