Chapter 999
Sweet Subterfuge
Larissa gave him a comforting hug and whispered, âIâll go with you to the cemetery on the day after the big family reunion dinner. Weâll bring some ple and visit Roland.â
Kevan closed his eyes and returned the embrace.
It took him a while, but he finally managed to choke out a heartfell âOkay.â
They spent some time outside the restaurant, wrapped up in their own world.
Meanwhile, Anthony and Violet, who had noticed them earlier, wisely chose not to interrupt.
Instead, they exchanged knowing glances and shared a smile.
Once Kevan had regained his composure, Larissa confidently led him into the restaurant. t âHello, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers,â she greeted them politely.
However, Kevan had already informed Violet about the true nature of their relationship.
So, Violet playfully teased Larissa. âStill calling us âMr. and Mrs. Rogers, huh?â
Larissa blushed and quickly comected herself, saying, âSorry! Hello, Mom and Dad!â
âYeah, sounds about right!â Violet responded cheerfully.
Anthony couldnât help but smile.
âYou two have been cleaning up all morning. You must be tired. How about you both go upstairs for a nap? Iâll wake you up when the pies are ready.â Violet suggested thoughtfully.
âItâs okay. Iâll help you with the pies!â Larissa said as she washed her hands in the kitchen.
The four of them had clearly defined roles.
Anthony and Kevan worked on the dough, while Larissa and Violet handled the filling.
As for Aster. Kevan had prepared a small piece of dough for him to play with. It was almost like playdough.
The atmosphere in the dining room was filled with joy and harmony.
Midway through, Larissaâs phone rang.
She wiped the flour off her apron and pulled her phone out of her pants pocket.
When she saw it was a call from Lewis, she answered it with delight. âHey, Lewis!â
âDo you have a moment? Lewis asked.
âYeah, sure,â she replied.
She thought he was calling about business matters.
She quickly excused herself from the others and rushed upstairs.
âWhatâs up?â she asked.
The background noise on the phone was quite loud, but she could still vaguely hear someone speaking fluently in the Baitham dialect.
Her heart leaped with joy.
She stopped in her tracks, exclaiming in excitement, âYou guys are in Bartham?â
âYeah. Since you have some free time, could you come pick us up at the airport? Lewis replied with a hint of amusement.
âOf course!â Immediately, she turned, look off her apron, and ran downstairs. âWait for me! Iâm leaving now!â
Kevan saw her rushing to the door, +15 BONOS âWhere are you going?â he asked.
âLewis and Dad are here in Bartham! Theyâre already at the airport. So, Iâm going to pick them up.â she replied.
She struggled to put on her down jacket with one hand, then grabbed her snow boots from the shoe cabinet and quickly put them on.
Tll go with you. Just wait for me a second,â he said as he grabbed her.
He quickly freshened up, informed his parents, wrapped himself in a coat, and then left with Larissa.
The Rogersâ villa was far from the city center but convenienty close to the airport.
As Larissa had anticipated, they reached the airport in less than half an hour.
There, they warmly welcomed Lewis and Gary, who were waiting outside.
Kevan was attentive, helping them load their luggage into the car.
Although Gary still didnât offer Kevan a warm reception, he refrained from making hurtful comments like he used to.
Larissa asked Lewis, âHave you booked a hete!?â
He replied with a question, âDonât you want us to stay at your place?â
