Fix You

William

My blue eyes trained on the warm mug of hot chocolate, watching as Lucille swirled her spoon around in it before lifting it to her lips, the froth from the melted marshmallows touching them.

She sips on the warm beverage before placing it back down on the coffee table ,not paying

any mind to me.

I would love to have some steaming hot cocoa right now, but liquid calories are worse than regular.  Hot chocolate is one of my favorite drinks though...

Maybe I can make just a small amount, like 4 ounces. No, Will. You'll get fatter from all the liquid sugar and chocolate. You might as well eat a million chocolate bars if you're going to drink cocoa.

I sip on my cup of water, imagining if it was a warm, steaming cup of the chocolatey goodness my sister was enjoying on this cold afternoon. Most everyone was huddled in the living room, the fireplace was full of wood, and a warm fire was burning.

My mom was out of town for a few days because one of her friends were having a wedding, and my dad didn't want to go to a strangers wedding. So now he has to watch all 5 of us for the rest of the week.

The girls all insisted we watched a Christmas movie this evening, even though it was less than a month ago. But my dad and I got sucked into watching The Polar Express.

My dad and I glanced uneasily at each other. Why watch a Christmas movie when it's the middle of January?  And why this movie out of all of them? I think I rather watch The Grinch than this.

I dismissed the ridiculousness of the idea, letting the girls find the movie. My dad commented to them now we should just watch a non-holiday related movie since all the major holidays just happen over the last 3ish months.

"But the Polar Express is such a good movie, Dad!" Gabrielle exclaims, holding up the movie case. "You don't have to watch it on just Christmas."

Isn't that the whole point of the movie though? To watch it on or near Christmas...

My dad just sighs and waves my sister off, agreeing to watch it.  Gabby smiles, quickly putting the movie into.

"How much popcorn do you want, Will? A bag to yourself or do you want to share with Rose?"

Is neither an option?

I knew Rose would eat all the popcorn and completely forget we were sharing, so I chose the second option. Saying, "I don't want any popcorn," would just make them think I was acting weird.

As the girls made popcorn, I watched the movie trailers of old movies, wishing we could watch something other than The Polar Express.

It's a good movie, but I've watched it so many times that it's just become dreadful to watch. But my opinion doesn't really matter to them when it comes to these kind of small decisions.

The movie seemed like it last for hours. I wish I could just sit in the bathroom until it was over, but I didn't want to spoil my sisters fun. Like I assumed, Rose ate all the popcorn and apologized for eating it all in the middle of the movie.

I waved it off, more than glad that she did.

"Can we watch a not so Christmassy movie?" I request as the twins and Gabby looked through DVD's while Lucille scrolled through Netflix. My eyes scan the screen. "Ooh, what about The Babysitter?"

Lucille glanced at Gabrielle and the twins with a questioning look.

"Isn't that movie inappropriate?"

Lucille groans at our dad, "okay and? We've seen it before." He just rolls his eyes, but reluctantly agrees to watch it with us.

In a few parts, usually towards the beginning, it was a bit awkward watching the movie with our dad in the room. It also didn't help that I kept laughing and he would give me a disappointed head shake.

But Bella Thorne is hot so, he couldn't really blame me.

The movie was much more enjoyable than the first, especially since it wasn't about Christmas and had kids singing ever 15 minutes in the film.

As the evening went on, we just watched another movie, just enjoying the presence of each other. It was a little different since our mom wasn't there and my dad was a bit more quiet and carefree than my mom, but none of us minded.

As the movie ended, Dad announced that he was going to order food since he wasn't the best cook. Hence why the girls made the popcorn and not us guys.

It was quite late for dinner, we all forgot because we were caught up in the TV.

"Can we get pizza?!"

"No, I want Sushi!"

"Subs!"

"Let's get burgers!"

My head spun at all the food choices the girls yelled out. I think water and maybe a yogurt cup would satisfy me for the night. I knew if my dad ordered something, I would have to eat it.

My dad stared at my siblings, looking bewildered at all the request. He had to feed 4 teenagers and a 21 year old with all different likes. I don't know how my mom does this.

"Uh." He looks at me, as if he was asking for help. I just shrug. "William, what do you want?"

Oh, wow, thanks Dad. Just put the spotlight on the boy who doesn't eat.

I wrack through my brain, thinking of the healthiest thing I could put in my body. All the options the girls suggested had too much carbs or calories and just scared me.

"Tacos?"

The girls shared a look for a few moments before they all agreed. How can they just do that without talking?

My dad nods, looking up any Mexican places nearby that wasn't Taco Bell because apparently it gave Gabrielle heart burn.

I was panicking on the inside. I didn't want to eat. I felt like I already ate way too much today.

I ate an egg and a slice of bacon for breakfast since Gabrielle and Lucille made breakfast for everyone. I knew it would hurt their feelings if I refused to eat. I ate 134 calories for breakfast.

I threw up some of the eggs afterwards, but I didn't throw it all up completely because I didn't want to throw up all the water I had drank that morning.

I read that drinking water when you wake up quicken your metabolism and helps burns any calories.

Also, I ate half a sandwich for lunch, which was ready 110 calories and so many carbs. I felt so guilty afterwards, but it hurts to even attempt to throw up bread without drinking water before or while eating it.

How much was in tacos? I didn't want to imagine how many carbs were in tortillas.

"Soft or crunchy, Will? And how many?"

Crunchy is made from corn tortillas and soft were from flour...

"Crunchy." I reply quickly. "And, uh, 2, I guess."

Lucille widened her eyes, "only 2? Jeez, I'm getting 5..." I nervously laugh, explaining that I wasn't that hungry. "Well, 2 still isn't enough. You-"

My phone's ring tone played, saving me from Lucille's potential lecture.  I sent my sister an apologizing look before I grab my phone from my pocket, looking at the I.D.

I furrow my brows, blinking at the name that popped up.

Why was Anthony calling?

The coffee chop was closed until my mom came back, so it wasn't because of work...

I walk into the now empty living room, answering it. "Hi."

There was silence on the other line for a moment before I heard Anthony clear his throat. "Hey, William, how has your night been?"

I thought of my words before I spoke, "it's been fine. I've just been watching movies with my family."

"Oh, that's cool. I've just been playing video games."

Did I ask what you did? "That's cool... I don't want to be rude, but is there a reason you called?"

Anthony pauses for a moment, the line awkwardly silent. "I just wanted to see how you were doing. And ask if you were able to hang out sometime soon."

I furrow my brows, "like today?"

He laughs, " oh, hell no. I'm busy with school work. Maybe this weekend?"

My mom would be back by this weekend, so it seemed like it was fine. I'd have to ask, of course, but I didn't see any problem in hanging out with someone I've only talked to twice.

"I'll ask later, but sure. I'd like to. Where at?"

"My house good?"

Oh. I don't like going over to others houses. I prefer for them to come over... I don't know if I have separation issues from my family or something, but I just prefer being here with them when I hang out with a friend.

"Uh, sure, that's fine. Just text me your address." I spoke with a smile. Maybe I can make an exception.

"Oh, cool." Anthony beams brightly. I just nod, feeling a bit awkward. Did I just agree to hang out with a random 18 year old I barely knew? He's cool and all, but... Oh well, too late now. "Well, I'll talk to you later. See ya this weekend."

I opened my mouth to speak but all I heard was a beep and the line went dead, an annoying buzzing noise filling my ears.

Shrugging, I just put my phone away, wandering back to the kitchen with the rest of my family.

"Who was it? Was it your girlfriend?" Gabby teased, elbowing me lightly. I roll my eyes, shaking my head. "You need to get a girlfriend."

I scoff, shaking.my head again. "No, I'm good."

"Are you gay!?"

"What, no, I-"

"William's gay!" Gabrielle announced, poking my arm repeatedly. I narrow my eyes at my sister, fighting the urge to smack her. "I'm kidding."

Now I understand why Luke cheated on you, bitch. "You better be."
