CHAPTER 12
INKED WITH LOVE
MAANVI'S POV
I'm currently in the airport to go to Paris for the filming of valentine's day special for "travel lovers" on DISCOVER. I'm waiting for Aarav to come. the flight is at 1:05 pm. I take out my camera and start filming my vlog. " Hi guys, welcome back to my channel. this is Maanvi Gupta and today is a very exciting day as I am going to the city of love "Paris" and I'm going to be showing you guys around Paris. so see you in Paris bye !" I wave at the camera and stop filming. I wait for another 15 min and Aarav comes hurriedly " Aarav! " I shout angrily at him. he catches his ears to tell me he is sorry and we sit and discuss what we are going to be filming and the interview with Ishaan Malhotra just came out like 2 hours ago and it's going viral in youtube and it's already trending on youtube. we wait for them to call our flight.
{ A/N: This offer her company gives which is mentioned in the chapter 6.}
currently, we are on the plane and it takes about 9 hours and 25 mins to go to the airport. I read comments under my blog and youtube channel to pass time. I post on my Instagram and other social media platforms. Aarav is sleeping beside me snoring. I talk with the company about what to film and they allowed me to vlog it for my youtube channel also. I watch some movies just to pass the time.
we go to Jardins de mademoiselle hôtel & spa. it is an amazing hotel Surrounded by shops and eateries, this upmarket hotel with a modern exterior is 2 km from Eiffel Tower, a 3-minute walk from the Commerce metro station and 4 km from Arc de Triomphe.
we go to our room and take rest as it is 6:00 in the evening in Paris. I meet up with the film crew as we were going to film the night view of Eiffel tower and also the amazing night shopping. the view from Eiffel tower is so amazing and also the atmosphere, in general, is loving. I record some clips to put in in my vlog.
DAY 1: Today we start the 4 day trip around Paris and the 4th day is valentine's day. today we go to some of the famous places in Paris. first, we go to Musée du louvre. A sumptuous palace that was once the home of France's Kings, the Louvre is the most important of Paris' top museums. The most famous piece is the Mona Lisa painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1503-1505. it is a 3-hour tour with information about the paintings.
The Louvre is surrounded on one side by the Jardin des Tuileries, one of the largest and loveliest parks in Paris. The celebrated landscape architect André Le Nôtre (who designed the gardens of Versailles) created the Tuileries Gardens in the classic French style. The formal gardens feature perfectly manicured trees; two ponds; and statues by Rodin, Giacometti, and Maillol. Park benches offer a place to relax and enjoy the scenery. There are also several café-restaurants with outdoor seating.
Next, we go to Avenue des Champs-Ãlysées. The most monumental boulevard in Paris used to be a desolate field of marshland until the 17th century, when it was landscaped by André Le Nôtre. A century later, the renowned Parisian city planner Baron Haussman designed the boulevard's elegant buildings. The Champs-Elysées is divided into two parts with the Rond-Point des Champs-Elysées as its intersection.
After the visit, we go to have some lunch in the nearby cafe which is so cozy. I take some pics and also records some clips to put it in the vlog. We take rest for an hour or so and go to the last destination of day 1.
The last stop is the Seine River Cruises. To truly soak up the alluring ambiance of Paris, tourists should try taking a boat cruise along the Seine River. Besides being one of the most enjoyable things to do while visiting the city, Seine River cruises allow tourists to see the sights from a different perspective. After sunset, the city's landmarks are illuminated, which creates a special effect, and somehow the city seems more magical. For a cruise that includes dinner, try the Bateaux Parisiens Seine River Cruise. This four-hour sightseeing journey departs near the Eiffel Tour, and guests are treated to a gourmet three-course meal.
We have our dinner and go back to the hotel. I go and freshen up and edit the footage of today... I call my ma and pa and talk to Jaanvi for a while and sleep as I'm very tired.
DAY 2: Today we are going to explore more famous places in Paris. the day starts off with breakfast in the hotel itself. I have some french toast and some fruit and some juice. the stop for today is Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris.A triumph of Gothic architecture, the Notre-Dame stands in the heart of Paris on the Ile de la Cité near the attractions of the Latin Quater. An island in the Seine River, the Ile de la Cité is the historical and geographical center of Paris. Due to recent fires in 2019, the interiors are closed to public and re-construction is going on. the view from outside is so amazing and we interview some people about their experience.
The next stop in the trip is Sacré-Coeur and Quartier Montmartre.Sitting at the highest point in Paris like an ornamental decoration, the Basilique Sacré-Coeur has a special aura. Its alabaster facade blends Romanesque and Byzantine styles, and from far away, it looks like a wedding cake (which is its nickname). Inside the Basilica, the striking mosaic of Christ with a flaming heart gives the sanctuary an emotional and spiritual intensity, fitting for a church that was created as a symbol of hope after the Franco-Prussian War. The sanctuary is illuminated with many candles, which provide a contrast to the dark, somber space.
Visitors can spend time on the terrace admiring the views of Paris or climb the tower for an even higher perspective. While visiting the Sacré-Coeur, it's worth spending time exploring Montmartre. Once a little medieval village in the country, Montmartre blends old-fashioned charm with an avant-garde edge. Winding cobblestone streets and pedestrian staircases lead to quaint boutiques, hidden art galleries, and quiet squares filled with outdoor cafés.
we explore the hidden streets and I interview some people both for the broadcast and also for my vlog. we rest for a while and also eat lunch. I go by myself to explore without any film crew. as I explore someone taps me on my shoulder. I turn around to see a girl not more than 18 years old. " hi are you Maanvi?" she asks. I nod my head in confusion as to how does she know my name. she jumps excitedly " hi I'm Laura and I'm one of your fans. I love your videos and it inspires me a lot." I smile at her " thank you so much, because of you I feel inspired." she asks me for a hug and a pic which I gladly take. I ask her "hi if you don't mind can I include you in my vlog and you can show me around here also. " . as soon as she hears it, she jumps excitedly and shows me around I include her in my clips.
I go back after an hour of roaming and we go to the last stop of day 2. the last stop is very beautiful Arc de Triomphe. The Arc de Triomphe is dedicated to the soldiers who fought in the French armies of the Revolution and the First Empire (Napoleonic Wars). From the top of the monument, a viewing platform affords panoramic views of the 12 avenues that radiate from the Place de l'Etoile, including the route from the Champs-Elysées to Place de la Concorde and the Louvre. It's possible to see all the way to La Défense, Montmartre, and the Eiffel Tower.
After the Arc de Triomphe, we go back to the hotel and we eat dinner and i take lie on my bed editing the footage. I was not allowed to post my vlog till the program airs and it will air on Valentine's day and that is the day we go back. I send all the raw footage to the company so that they can edit and keep the footage ready. i close my laptop and go to sleep as I'm very tired.
