Chapter 21

Jesus was scourged for us

Intimate Jesus

[ Main Scripture: John 19:1-2]

Day 21

So then Pilate took Jesus and scourged Him. And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple robe. - John 19:1‭-‬2 NKJV

The dictionary meaning of Scourge is: A means to inflict such pain or destruction.

Jesus suffered both emotionally and physically for our salvation. The best thing anyone can have in this world is a relationship with Jesus.

Everything Jesus did for us, He did out of love. He didn't feel obligated to love or die for us, He chose to.

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends. - John 15:13 NKJV

There is nothing more fulfilling, more joyful, more exciting  than knowing the love of Jesus. How we love as Humans and the length at which we love is limited.

But Jesus suffered persecution. He suffered shame. He suffered and was beaten for us.

who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. - Philippians 2:6‭-‬8 NKJV

He made himself of no reputation. Jesus is the Son of God and the Bible says, "But made Himself of no Reputation."

He became obedient to the point of death. Jesus submitted Himself to death. Do you know what that means? It simply means He had the power to defeat death, which He did. Death couldn't hold Him. For three days, Our savior was dead. But after the three, He resurrected.

If Jesus can suffer through pain, shame, disgrace and defeat death, the least we could do is to follow Him.

Father we thank you. We bless your name. We glorify you. You are awesome. Help us to see you in the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for being scourged for us. Help us to follow you fully and live our lives as sons and daughters of a King. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ. We pray. Amen.
