Jesus is the hope for every person
Intimate Jesus
Day three
[ Main Scriptures : John 2:1-5 ]
On the third day a wedding took place in Cana of Galilee. Jesus' mother was there, and Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding as well. When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother told Him, "They don't have any wine." "What has this concern of yours to do with Me,  woman? " Jesus asked. "My hour has not yet come." "Do whatever He tells you," His mother told the servants.
John 2:1â-â¬5 HCSB
I want us to carefully study the few verses above with a prayerful heart. The first thing we notice about the above Scripture is that Jesus was at a wedding. Why would the bible record this if it wasn't for our very own benefit?
I want us to also take note of the people involved here. We have Jesus. His disciples. His mother and servants.Jesus' mother had a concern that everybody else probably had but she was the only one who was bold enough to tell Jesus about it.
Seeing that Jesus was at the very same wedding, He probably knew the problem that was there. Yet He did nothing about it until His mother mentioned it.
The revelation we get here is one of close relationship. Jesus' mother went to Jesus because :
1. She had a personal relationship with Him.
2. She believed that Jesus could do it.
In verse 3 of John chapter two, Mary tells Jesus that there was no wine. So we see that Mary told Jesus about the problem they had at the wedding. But in Verse 4, Jesus asks, "What has this concern of yours to do with Me, woman? " It doesn't look like a very promising response does it? Let's see what else Jesus says.
He says, "My hour has not yet come."
Again, not so promising or exciting. Jesus simply responds, 'its not my time.' Not now. But let's watch what happens in verse five! I'm so excited!
"Do whatever He tells you," His mother told the servants.
Mary doesn't even regard what Jesus says. She doesn't even care about what Jesus said. Jesus said, "Not yet" and yet Mary says, "Do whatever He tells you." How could Mary have known that Jesus was going to do what she asked of Him? She believed He could do it. And She had a close relationship with Jesus. Not because she was His mother, but because she had a personal relationship with Him.
I don't know what you want from Jesus today. But I want you to believe that Jesus can handle your troubles. There's nothing too big for Him to perform. Jesus is not limited by our circumstances. He is not limited by the economy. Jesus is not limited by what people say. Jesus works miracles!
When the chief servant tasted the water (after it had become wine), he did not know where it came from â though the servants who had drawn the water knew. He called the groom
John 2:9 HCSB
Here's a question: Did Jesus respond to Mary's request? The answer? Of course He did! Jesus is ready to meet your needs as you believe in Him. Let's use the secret that Mary had.
She had:
1. A personal relationship with Jesus.
2. She believed Jesus could do it.
Prayer:Â Father, we thank you today. We bless your name. We magnify you. We acknowledge your Lordship over our lives. Today, we release to you every heartache. Every headache. Our anxiety, we give to you. Our Pain. We submit to you. Come and do what you said would do according to Your Holy Scriptures. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
