Chapter 140
Seducing My Ex's Father In Law by Caroline Above Story
Chapter 0140 Gavinâs POV The rage I felt when I saw Ethanâs family tormenting Judy was beyond what I had ever felt in my life. I was honestly surprised that I was able to control myself. Staying at this barbeque wasnât something I wanted to do, but Judy pleaded with me to let it go for right now and I wasnât going to leave without her. I watched her mingling with a few girls her age, and she looked rather uncomfortable. Her cheeks turned a bright shade of pink, I used my Lycan hearing to listen to their conversation, completely ignoring what Raymond Cash was saying on the other side of me.
âIt must be really embarrassing for you to watch your fated mate with another sheâwolf,â one of the girls said.
âIâm surprised you bothered showing up,â the other said.
I let out a small growl, which seemed to startle the table I was sitting at. It brought me back to the current moment and I saw eyes on me. I cleared my throat and forced a smile.
âI apologize,â I said as I stood to my feet. âIf youâll excuse me for a minute.â
I wasnât sure what I was going to do, but I couldnât sit there, and watch Judy be embarrassed over what these pointless sheâ
wolves were saying to her. I walked towards them as they continued their conversation and without thinking, I draped an arm around Judyâs shoulders.
âLadies,â I said to them, making their jaw drop. âIf you donât mind, Iâm going to steal Miss Montague.â
âA... Alpha Gavin Landry?â One of them stammered, her eyes large as she stared up at me. âI... Itâs an honor...â
I stared at her with indifference, without replying.
The other girl was looking between Judy and me, her eyes quizzical.
âI wasnât aware you and Judy knew one another,â she pointed out, her brows raised.
Judy went to speak, but I cut her off.
âMy relationship with Miss Montague isnât your concern,â I told her. âIf youâll excuse us.â
I didnât wait for Judy to argue, I pulled her along with me and went back towards the table I was seated at. She gawked at me, her cheeks flushed red.
âI could have handled that,â she said, staring at the ground as we walked.
âYou shouldnât have to,â I murmured.
We sat at the table, and I slid a plate of food in her direction. She began to nibble without speaking a word.
âIs everything okay?â Raymond asked, looking at Judy and then back at me.
I nodded.
âAs a Lycan, Iâm required to notice everything that goes on around me,â I explained. âI could hear those girls being disrespectful, so I went over to offer my assistance.â
âI apologize, Alpha. This is not the impression I wanted you to have for your first time in my home. I assure you, itâs not always like this.â
I nodded as I took a sip of my wine.
âIf my daughter is going to be married into this family, Iâll need to establish some trust between us. If I canât trust you with packmates, how can I trust you with my daughter?â I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
âYou can trust us,â he assured me. âI will prove that to you, Alpha.â
âIâd like to see you try,â I murmured.
âWe wonât let you down,â Raymond said confidently.
I nodded.
We continued to talk for the next hour and soon, people started to leave the party.
âIâm going to take off,â Judyâs mother said to her. âAre you coming home with me?â
Judy glanced in my direction briefly before looking at her mother.
âI have to work tonight. Iâll just catch an Uber,â she told her.
Her mother nodded and then hugged her.
âThink about what we talked about earlier,â she whispered to Judy. âWe will talk more about it later.â
I wondered what it was that they spoke about, but I knew it wasnât my business.
Judy looked uneasy though, but she nodded and watched as her mother left. I couldnât help but notice Judy staring after her, seeming a bit lost in thought. I knew this was my queue to get her out of there; sheâd had enough torture for one day.
âI should be going too,â I said, standing to my feet. I glanced at Judy. âLet me give you a ride.â
She looked as if she was about to protest, but then she thought better of it and gave me a short nod.
âThank you,â she said softly.
âYou arenât going home with your mother?â Meredith asked with her brows raised.
Judy shook her head.
âI have to go to work,â she explained.
âOh, I wasnât aware you were working,â Meredith said with a frown. âAnd what is it you do?â
âIâm a tutor,â she blurted. âI tutor a child in Alpha Landryâs pack. Which is why heâs going to give me a ride.â
Meredith looked at me for a moment and then back at Judy before nodding; she didnât look completely convinced, but it wasnât on us to convince her of anything.
