Chapter 186
Seducing My Ex's Father In Law by Caroline Above Story
Chapter 0186 Harper rolled her eyes.
âDonât you ladies have anything better to do?â She asked. Folding her arms across her chest and narrowing her eyes.
Chester grinned.
âNow Harper, no need to be jealous,â he said, nudging her shoulder. âYou know you are still my favorite.â
âIâm not jealous,â she retorted in a growl as she turned to face him. âBut flirting while at work has always been frowned upon.â
âThatâs not what you were saying the other night,â he said in a soft and breathy whisper, though the rest of us could hear him clearly.
My eyes grew wide as I watched Harperâs face turn different shades of pink and red. Had they slept together the other night? I wondered what the lure was here... something certainly interesting was happening in front of my eyes and I was way too curious about it.
âWe werenât working,â she said through her teeth. âIneed to run to the store. Iâll be back.â
She turned on her heel and hurried out of the kitchen looking mortified. I turned to Chester who was laughing and shaking his head.
âShe embarrasses so easily. I donât get why. It was only sex,â he said, still shaking his head. âIt wasnât that big of a deal.â
I folded my arms across my chest and watched as he maneuvered his way around the kitchen, cooking in a delicate fashion.
âMaybe to you, it wasnât a big deal,â I told him. âBut did you ever think that maybe it was a big deal to her?â
He paused for a moment to look at me over his shoulders.
âItâs not my fault she went back on her word,â he said, shrugging. âWe said no strings attached. We were only scratching each otherâs itch. Nothing more to it.â
âIs that the kind of guy you are?â I asked him, raising my brows. âThe guy who has mindless sex that doesnât mean anything?
He corked an eyebrow up at me and put his hands on the counter, leaning so close to me that his lips would be on mine if he were to move another inch.
âWant to find out?â He asked, his voice dropping sultry.
Just as I was about to lean back and away from him, the door slammed shut, making Chester step away from me by instinct.
âChester, I didnât hire you to flirt and talk. I hired you to cook,â Gavinâs voice boomed across the kitchen, sending a chill down my spine.
Chester had amusement in his eyes, but he didnât argue with his boss. Heâd be stupid to do so.
âYes, Alpha,â Chester said as he resumed cooking.
I chuckled as Chester quickly started to make our breakfast and Gavin sat beside me.
âHeâs harmless,â I murmured.
Gavin rolled his eyes.
âHeâs a guy and he only has one thing on his mind. Be careful around him,â he murmured in return.
I raised my brows.
âDo you only have one thing on your mind too?â I asked him.
He shot me a look and it made the smile drop from my face. I couldnât really read the expression on his face, and it made my stomach twist. He was contemplating something as he studied my âWhat exactly do you think this is?â He suddenly asked.
âIâm sorry, what?â I asked in return.
face.
âWhat do you think this is?â He repeated, but this time he motioned between the two of us. My cheeks burned at the question, and I had to look away from him; I stared down at the counter. He spoke low enough that others in the kitchen hadnât heard, or if they had, they were pretending they hadnât.
âWe are just having fun,â I told him after a beat of silence. âRight? We are helping each other out and scratching an itch at the same time.â
He nodded thoughtfully.
âRight,â he told me. âSo, I guess that answers your question.â
