Chapter 281
Seducing My Ex's Father In Law by Caroline Above Story
My heart dropped into my stomach as I looked at my leg and saw the bulky cast on it. This was not good. I glanced around, frantic for a time. Maybe there was time for this to heal and Iâll be okay before the competition.
âItâs almost morning. Weâve been here for several hours,â he explained, I nearly let out a choked sob from what he had said. It was almost morning, which meant I had no time for this to heal. I was doomed. I was going to get disqualified or male a fool out of myself. This was my one shot at making an impression and I was about to fail it.
Before he could say anything more, the doctor came into the room âMiss Judy, youâll have to stay off it for the next 24 to 48 lurs. Your wolf will start the healing process now that we reset it properly,â the doctor said, giving me a fond smile. âI also gave you some medicine to help heal you faster.â
âThank you,â I said to him, grateful that he was able to help me, but not so grateful that I was not going to be okay by the competition.
He nodded and then bowed at Gavin before, leaving the room âAre you going to actually listen to him and stay off it?â Gayin asked, raising his brows at me.
1 pressed my lips together.
âDoesnât look like I have a choice,â I muttered.
âNo, you donât,â he said, his tone low and hidden with a quiet threat. âI have business I need to get done today. Iâm trusting that youâll stay here.â
He stood and started to walk away.
âDid you stay with me all night?â I asked him, stopping him from getting any further.
âWhat?â
âDid you stay with me all night?â I asked again, more loudly this time.
He was quiet for a moment longer before his eyes found mine from over his shoulder.
âYes,â he replied.
âhe âWhy?â My v My voice came out as a whisper; I hated that tears were burning in my eyes. I didnât want him to see me as weak right now, I didnât need him pitying me.
âI didnât want you to wake up alone.â
With those words in the air between us, he turned and walked out of the room. I kept my eyes glued on the door he just walked through, wondering where he was going and what kind of business he had.
Did it involve the competition?
Should I be involved in this business too?
I groaned knowing that I couldnât do anything about it because I was lying in a hospital bed, helpless... weak.
The door flew open and soon, Nan was rushing into the room.
âWe listed each other as emergency contacts when we checked in, so the doctor called me after you got out of +25 BONUS surgery to update me,â she told me as she threw her arms around me.
âI think I blew the competition,â I said, tears spilling out of my eyes and down my cheeks. I had been holding in these tears for some time now and I was relieved to finally be able to release them.
âNo... no, you still have a chance,â Nan said as she hugged me; I knew she was just trying to make me feel better, but I didnât.
âMy ankle is broken, and it wonât be fixed for another 24 hours,â I cried. âI was supposed to start today.â
âWe will figure it out,â she whispered.
We spent some time talking and eventually, thanks to the pain medication the doctor gave me, I ended up falling asleep. This time when I woke up, it was because of a strange presence wafted into the room as the door opened.
I opened my eyes and looked over at the man walking towards me. It was Beta Ron. A second later, Nan came rushing into the room as well and my eyes dropped at the sight of her smile.
âWhatâs going on?â I asked, staring between the two of them.
She came to us and explained that you were injured and couldnât compete until tomorrow,â Beta Ron said, glancing at his clipboard with a frown. âWe switched you with another person so you can compete tomorrow morning instead.â
âAre you serious??â I asked my hope in my throat, waiting to burst.
Beta Ron nodded.
âYeah, and you have this one to thank for that. She was persistent,â Ron muttered.
He turned and left the room. Nan squealed and hugged me. I couldnât believe this... I was going to compete, and nothing was standing in my way this time.
âThank you, Nan,â I breathed as I hugged her back.
âI told you, we got this,â she replied.
She was right; we got this.
