Epilogue
The Bet
Christian
I watch my daughters as we head home, their whispers and smiles filling the air. They look so happy, and seeing their joy warms my heart and fills my soul with happiness.
I've done everything on my power to make my daughters happy and give them the best life. I worked hard, with blood, sweat and tears and ruined myself in the process. I did everything to make my company powerful and reach the tops. I went against the Cullen and proceeded to ruin his company just for my daughters to have the best life and be happy.
But he is strong too. The bastard and his company are strong, and my family will never be safe when he's still powerful.
But there's something that is worrying me more than Adam Cullen himself.
Olivia and her relationship with that bastard's son. Joel. He was a dangerous little shit since he was little and now, he's way more dangerous. He inserted himself on my daughter's head and manipulated her.
I failed to protect my daughter from him.
I saw the signs, but I chose to ignore them. But now they can't be ignored. They have become to close with each other and that is dangerous.
We're enemies with the Cullens for thirteen years since that bastard betrayed me and did that to my family and I chose to take revenge on him. But I haven't taken my revenge the way it needs to be taken and I'm thinking that I need to do it now if I need to protect my daughter.
''Olivia was to close with that bastard's son today.'' I say to my wife as soon as we get out of the limo and our daughters rush to the house.
''With Joel?'' she asks, and I nod.
''It's becoming concerning.'' I say.
''Why do you think so?" she heads inside the mansion.
''They were too close with each other and I'm afraid that the rumors of them dating are true.'' I sigh.
''Stop worrying about our kids, Christian.'' she cups my face between her hands, ''Let them live their life.''
''I will let them live their life but not with the Cullens.'' I say, ''They have become friends with each other.''
''Isn't that amazing?" she says, ''Just like-''
''No, Melinda that is not amazing. That is catastrophic.''I pull away from her. ''Our kids can't be friends with each other. They should hate and destroy each other.''
''They don't need to be that way.'' she frowns. ''Our kids have nothing to do with our past.''
''Melinda.'' I walk to her, ''Do you understand how serious this is?''
I take in a deep breath and look at my wife who still thinks that our enemy will end.
''It's either us or them winning this war.'' I say, ''I'm just trying to protect our family.''
''And we have to stop whatever Joel and Olivia have.'' I say
''No.'' she argues, ''They love each other Christian I see it in their eyes. If you do that it will destroy them.''
''He's a Cullen.'' I swallow.
''He loves her.'' she says.
Not more than I love my daughter.
''I'm sorry love, but I have to do this.'' I say and walk away from her.
I walk to the french door and head out in the garden.
''Christian.'' Melinda calls behind me, but I don't pay her attention.
I get the phone out of my pocket and dial the number of the person I wish I never met before.
He answers at the third ring.
''Admit defeat?" Adam Cullen's voice comes through the phone.
You wish I admit defeat.
''We have to talk.'' I say, ''We have a problem that we're both are interested in.''
Olivia will understand why her dad is doing this. My little girl will forgive me.
