Monae's POV

I was pondering deeply on her words, sitting on the island table and didn't realise my hand was still on the cheek that was slapped till Roxie entered the kitchen. "Honey are you having a toothache?" She inquired, her face mirroring concern.

"Uh no." I diverted her attention from my posture, "do you need me for something?" I knew she didn't believe me when I said I ain't having a toothache with the way she was looking at me and it was no use prolonging it or trying to convince.

"Yeah I need you to go to the wine cellar and take two bottles of Screaming Eagle Cabernet for the guests, they're in the parlor." With that she exited the kitchen, smiling happily to herself.

Roxie has been so busy, she's super excited since telling us about the visit. Going about and making sure everything is in place and perfect, it is like she misses them very much.

I also left the kitchen, going to the cellar to do the bidding. After searching more than two racks, I found the said wine, picking them, I forgot I took no tray when coming here so I retraced my steps back to the kitchen.

Then I carefully made my way up the stairs lest I fall down with the bottles and ruin everything, hurting myself in the process.

The door to the parlor opened just when I made an attempt to open it. The person I badly don't want to set my eyes on today, tomorrow and forever came right through the door and stared at me. I  know that isn't going to be possible cause we live under the same room, we're bound to see each other and even now that there are visitors around.

He opened his mouth to speak but I beat him to it. "Excuse me Rex, I don't wanna hear anything you have to say."

I made for the door but he was quick in blocking my way by standing at the door, barring me from going inside there to deliver the wine. "Nae please."

"Move out of my way, move!" He was seriously pissing me off with his stupidity. Can't he see I don't wanna give no audience to what he has to say or is he so blind?

"Nae please." He pleaded and for a sec I thought it was genuine but nah Rex can never be not after what he did to me whatever he wants to say is gonna end up with me hurting and I don't want it. "Just listen to me and I'll allow you go in there."

"And why would I listen listen to you?"

"Because we both know you don't want to get mother angry by keeping her visitors waiting." I was right, he can never be genuine. He knows what's going to happen yet he is delaying me here.

"What's your motive Rex? Do you love it when she scolds and yells at me?"

"No I don't I just want to have a talk with you, a serious talk, tonight in your room or any where you want please Nae. Please say yes."

I weighed the options if saying yes is going to get me outta here fast and into that room then fine even if I have to tolerate Rex tonight.

What I don't need is Mrs Winchester yelling at me again when I haven't even gotten over what happened back there in the kitchen. "Fine, now move." I sneered at him.

"You won't regret is thank you." He then tried to force himself on me by pulling me into a hug but I stopped him, I'm holding a tray with a glass bottles idiot. "Uh I'll see you."

I rolled my eyes and him, "whatever." But what he did next surprised me.

Rex opened the door for me, a smile on his face. "My part of the deal."

"Yeah right." I said boredly and stepped inside but made sure to slam the door in his face, muttering under my breath, "jerk."

I was done dealing with him, not for now though but I wasn't done with his mother. She was the first to notice to me, she probably heard the door slamming though she was engaged in a conversation with the redhead woman beside her.

Mrs Winchester's face was contorted in a scowl as she stared at me in irritation like I was a menace. "Put the wine there and leave." She commanded in a calm tone but she and I know she was anything but calm.

"Who's this beautiful young lady? She isn't a servant given the way she looks." The pretty woman who I assume is Mrs Steele beside her asked.

I stared down at my clothes, it was a simple dress, nothing too special to push me up to the elite class in her eyes.

Her question attracted another pair of eyes, a man I didn't see earlier was beside daddy turned to look at Mrs Winchester in expectation.

Her irritated look didn't surprise me and I knew what her answer was going to be. I can bet my waist beads she's going to reply, 'oh her? She's no body, just someone we adopted and looking after.

I was so glad she couldn't answer the question, it was left hanging by the arrival of Imogen into the room. Mrs Winchester who was ever glad to drop the question about me like a burning coal announced her presence with pride, "look Yves, my baby girl is here!"

"Is that my future daughter in-law?" Mrs Steele exclaimed seeing Imo. "Oh my you've grown into a beautiful lady, I must say you took after your mother's beauty." She gushed over her.

I stole a glance at Imo and I agreed with her. She's looking very pretty even in a yellow floral print dress, her slender legs and semi tanned skin glowing perfectly. Imo has increased in fairness and grace after getting clean.

She shyly giggled, muttering a thank you. Before nervously glancing around to see her ex. I also did same but found no one, he didn't come. OmG wait, that means he hasn't gotten over it and I only gave Imo false hopes but I only said the truth.

"Looking around for him aren't you?" She pinches her cheeks, smiling at her.

"That steals my attention, where's junior?"

"He couldn't come with us today, he got back from a business trip and complained of fatigue so we allowed him stay behind and rest." That was Mr Steele talking since I got in here.

"Oh that's a shame, it would have been more fun if he were around." Mrs Winchester commented with disappointment.

I noticed Imo's shoulders slumped, she was disappointed too. She told me she was happy she was going to see him after all those years. I feel her pain yeah.

I tried to slip away without anyone noticing, I don't know why I was even standing here anyway, so I opened the door but I wasn't fast enough.

"Hey silly where are you going?" Imo smiled at me saying that, little did she know she's done a great wrong. It was useless with me in here with them.

"Nowhere." I gave her a small smile.

"Come here." She beckoned to me, tapping a seat by her side and closer to Mrs Winchester.

"This lady again, she was never introduces to us." Mrs Steele saw me and said.

Mr Winchester gestured me to go to where be sat. "Sorry about that, this is Monae, our daughter." He said announced proudly to them.

"Your daughter?" Mrs Steele asked incredulously.

"You heard him right." Mrs Winchester said boredly.

"How is it possible? You had a tubal ligation after you had Imo, so?"

"Yeah she--"

"Actually she isn't my real daughter. She's someone we found on the streets and are taking care of her after adopting her."

Why I'm I not surprised by her reply? Cause I betted it right and I knew she's never going to waste an opportunity to rub in my face I'm only adopted and make herself feel good whiles doing so because she's taking care of me.

"That's more convincing." Husband and wife nodded their heads, "hi Monae, you're so pretty and I love your beautiful caramel skin--"

"Get a grip on yourself Yves and let's get down to why you're here, I can't wait to talk about it." She rudely cut her friend off, I knew so did daddy and Imo, that was she hated me being the center of attention.

"Jeez easy Morganna," she waved her hand, dismissing her rudeness, "and to why we are here, I think we all know with the exception of Imo and Monae."

They started talking and I tuned out their voices and all what they were saying.

I didn't feel all that great being introduced. It made me the center of attention and I hate being that especially with Mrs Winchester's eagle and blazing eyes staring at me intensly in anger when I unconsciously looked her way.

Her stares were no news but they always made me squirm. I don't know why I was feel uneasy when she looks at me that way and with her words, I don't doubt my days are really numbered here.

"What?!" Imo's loud gasp broke me out of my thoughts, I turned to her only to see her eyes bulging and looking at Mrs Steele in disbelief.

Well I didn't head what they said for her to react like that, it might be something surprising or unbelievable and I'm itching to hear.

"Why uhm like I mean why me? There are tons of girls out there he might be interested in, not me."

"Imo my dear, you're the one we want. If we want then he wants, you know Junior can never refuse us and not when its all in his benefit."

"But why me? Are you really sure? Even after everything that has happened--"

"Imo--"

"No mother, I want to involve my past. Rebuilding my life is all about honesty and good values and I don't want to start a whole new relation based on lies and false identity."

"We're proud of you that you're willing to tell us about your past. Fitz here and I know what has been up in your life back in Vegas and we don't care about that because we know the real Imogen. We know deep down you are sweet, kind, soft and one hell of a wonderful person and we see no one better for you than our son. Right Fitz?"

"Yeah, she's right Imo. You're the only one we want for him, you two had a thing in the past and it lasted more than any relationship he has been in and yours so we know beyond doubt it is you."

Imo wiped tears that were spiling from her cheeks, "uhm speechless, I don't know what to say but I want to say thank you for believing so much in me and choosing me for him even when there are girls out there who are way better than me. Thank you."

"Come here honey." Mrs Krupp opened her arms wide and Imo run into it, engulfing her in a hug. "No need to thank us, we're doing what's best for you both. I love you just like I love my son and I know you both are the ones for each other, now wipe your tears and give me a smile."

She pinched her cheeks and Imo let out a light giggle. I'm glad it turned out great, even if Junior didn't come himself. His parents  gave her the hope and sign for her to totally forget what happened in the past and stop blaming herself.

They've given her a new hope, herself and his love story hasn't ended forever. Imo slipped off her laps, coming towards me with a smile. "OmG Nae did you hear that? You were so right!"

"Of course I did silly, you and him are going to get married. A blessing in disguise, you get him back and that too, forever!"

"We need to celebrate to that! C'mon let's get out of here."

"Not so fast young ladies, lunch is served and you both haven't eaten so down to the  terrace." Roxie who had been so busy in the doing the final touches, stopped us at the door before we could get out. "I'm so happy for you my baby."

She hugged Imo with teary eyes. "You knew about it?"

"Of course."

"And you never told me?"

"I didn't want you hearing about your marriage from someone else, the right people were supposed to tell you and they have."

Lunch was delicious, super delicious yet I couldn't bring myself to eating much as I listened to the conversations being made around me.

I felt like a third wheel just by looking at them. They were chatting among themselves happily and reminiscing old times back in Vegas and I only sat there

I had no idea what they were talking about because I don't belong with them.

Mrs Winchester is always right, I'm never their family because I can never share that bond they have. They have so many good memories together and I don't have that with them.

Even if I am their family, its just on a paper. I sighed sadly, getting under my covers. Imo just left my room, we didn't get to celebrate her marriage so we agreed to do it tomorrow God willing after church.

And now, I'm lying on bed, waiting for Rex to knock on my door. I doubt if he even will.
