However, just as she suggested, Eugene rejected lazily, âNo need. Iâm just here to watch.â
âMelanie, you said I wasnât a capable secretary this morning. So, Mr. Scott brought me here to learn from you. Donât worry. Mr. Scott wonât blame you for it.â
No one knew if that was a response to the seat arrangements or Melanieâs reprimand from this morning. The meaning of her words was vague.
Melanie pursed her lips without reacting.
Tina was good at mocking. She tugged on Melanieâs shirt and smiled as she said, âThe interview is starting soon. Show them your capability as the head secretary of the company and interview those newbies.â
Since Melanie left the CEOâs office, Eugene had not promoted anyone to that position.
Viola could not help herself from glancing at Melanie upon hearing this.
She had mentioned this to Eugene, but Eugene did not give her an answer.
As a result, everyone in LeapCo still took Melanie as the head secretary.
Viola and Julie had gone to the finance department once and learned by chance that Melanieâs salary was paid according to the head secretaryâs position.
Just as Viola was letting her thoughts run wild, the interview began.
Melanie got into her work mode and read through the internsâ resumes.
However, none of them fit her requirements.
Only when they were interviewing the last two groups did she put down her pen and exhale tiredly.
Viola had left ten minutes ago because she had something to deal with, but Eugene was still here.
Her movement was big when she put down her pen. She accidentally elbowed Eugeneâs elbow. Melanie froze. âIâm sorry. It was an accident.â
The new group of interns had not entered. Tina and the other staff had gone to the restroom. Eugene glanced at her. âYouâre indeed quite picky at times like this.â

Melanie knew he was being sarcastic again and said, after pondering, âIf thereâs any intern youâre satisfied with, we can call them back for a second interview.â
Eugene tapped on the table and asked Melanie, âDo you still remember when you first worked in LeapCo?â
When Melanie started working at LeapCo, she was only a secondâyear university student. Eugene gave her the job and trained her from the basics.
âYou were worse than them back then,â said Eugene with a scoff, snapping her out of her thoughts.

Melanieâs grip on the document tightened. Her voice was calm. âWhat do you mean by this?â
Eugene showed no emotions when he said, âSince you despise Violaâs ability, why donât you teach her so that she can take over your place?â
Melanie took a deep breath. âI canât teach her.â
âThatâs your problem.â
After calming herself down, Melanie said, âI donât want to teach her.â
âWell, then. If you donât want to teach her, find someone to take over your work.â Eugene scoffed as he looked at Melanie and knocked on the table.
Melanie said nothing. She was certain Eugene knew that her relationship with Viola was quite bad.
However, Eugene stood up and looked at her from above oppressively.
His voice was indifferent. âThis is your last assignment in LeapCo. You can get lost after you hand over your job to someone capable.â
He left the conference room after ordering, leaving Melanie troubled.
